When setting on a repeating event on the phone, is there a way to set an end date. I want to set-up an appointment that occurs daily for the next 5 days. I know I can do it on-line, but I don't see how to set the number of occurences or the "repeat until" date on the phone.

I have referred the article (at http://www.developer.com/article.php/3850276 ) for implementing the native calendar control, but i would like to display calendar also on the screen and also User can able to select date, and after selecting date user can also be able to event on that selected date.
So is there any way to display calendar (month view) in Android ?
I have Google and Facebook events show on my EVO's calendar. Since I keep a tight FB friends list, I don't mind the b-days showing. However, I said I'd be attending an online event from a FB contact that was set up as a daily thing for 7 hours and as a result, I've got it spamming my calendar view with four months worth of meetings. I went to FB and removed the event from my list there and went to the event page and said I wouldn't be attending, but even when I force sync the calendar, it's still showing up. Only turning off FB calendars entirely removes it, but the birthdays go with the bathwater. Is there any way to clear this that I'm overlooking?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThought it would be best to create a single thread that has a list of all the fixes we have got for the moment so people don't continue to say it is "broken" (note all fixes including using zefs 8.3 kernel and modification of the CL14 OS/modem file): 1) Network Location works great now (it might put you a little away from your "actual" location (by a couple hundred feet maybe) but it still puts you almost were you are really located, and since we use this for "general approximation" of location (gps is the only way to get a reliable location fix) i will say it is working 100% (note this is with gps and wifi turned off. so we know it is actually fixed) 2) Optimization of the kernel allows it to actually use the processing power of the S3C6410 Chipset instead of using generic drivers. this means it is actually meant for the phone and works much faster. 3) Battery meter has been optimized to give 5% reporting levels and adjusted to semi-accurately monitor battery against known calibration curve of the battery (based off of Behold II battery code which uses the same battery). No longer drops you to 15% within 2 hours and turns off most functionality. 4) e911 in pattern lock mode now pulls up a dialer that only allows you to call 911 instead of automatically calling the minute you hit the button 5) reports of pandora/slacker/other streaming programs not having the same stutter starts. 6) keyboard lag has gotta incredibly better.

In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.
There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?
If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!
Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.
I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.
The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!
I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!
The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.
Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.
The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?

Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?
set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?

A lot of the apps are on the I phone and I touch which is pretty cool. But can anyone tell me if it is possible to maybe change the phone kinda like jail breaking? The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?
Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work
Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.
I rooted my phone and tried to switch kernels and when i did my phone is just stuck on the samsung screen. I even tried to reflash using the sprint update but nothing is working.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find a review on the Otterbox Commuter case for the Samsung Moment but I couldn't wait so I ordered one from the Otterbox website for $31.45 with free ground shipping using coupon code "techbargains6100p" (expires on the 31st). Delivery was fast, I ordered Tuesday night and got it today. I don't like buying things without reading reviews so I figured I'd post this for other people that feel the same.
Inside the box:
Inside the box is the case (2 pieces), a screen protector and a microfiber cleaning cloth. I can't comment on the quality of the screen protector because I had one of the "invisishield" screen protectors put on the phone the day I bought it.
Materials and quality:
*The case has a silicone layer on the inside that shouldn't scratch the phone, and has a hard plastic shell.
*The case makes the phone feel sturdy and seems like it would do a good job absorbing shock if the phone were to be dropped.
*I like the way the phone feels in my hand with the case on it, I also like that the phone won't get stuck in my pockets.
*The case has a nice look to it. The back is textured (I think brushed aluminum is the texture they wanted to give it, maybe woodgrain or a cross of the two)
Fit:
*The fit is mostly perfect. It has a cutout for the headphone jack, micro-usb port, microphone (on bottom of phone), front speaker, and back speaker. The side buttons are covered in silicone, but have raised portions where the buttons are. The volume rocker has arrows on it, but the buttons on the other side are not labeled (voice recognition, camera, but I know which one is which).
*The part of the case that goes on the screen half of the phone has an indent on the left, to aid sliding the phone open.
*The case snaps on very easily (it has snaps, I don't know if they are the same as the body glove snaps but they work fine) but is much harder to get off (not too hard, just hard enough that it won't accidentally come off).
*The main problem with the fit of this case is that it does interfere with the slider mechanism which makes it a little bit harder to open (just initially until it starts moving) and when you slide it shut you need to press the two halves together to shut it all the way.
*It adds less than 1/4 inch of bulk (possibly closer to 1/8 inch but I am terrible at guessing lengths and don't have a ruler handy).
Competitiveness:
I have seen people ask how it compares to the body glove. I did not buy or own a body glove so I can't really give a fair comparison. The body glove looks thinner and possibly less protective. I don't know what the texture is of the body glove but it seems similar. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of cases made for our phone so I don't know what else to compare it to.
Conclusion:
I wouldn't pay over $30 for this case. It will probably turn up on amazon.com for less than that within a few months. The quality of the case is good, but I think I might have paid a little bit extra to have the brand. If you already have a case you are happy with like the body glove it is probably better keep using that until the price comes down significantly.
