Samsung Moment :: Trying To Update To 2.1 Using Sprint Update Tool
Apr 12, 2010I was trying to update to 2.1 using the Sprint update tool and it froze. I tried again and my phone is able to go into download mode, but it isn't recognized by the update tool. I also cannot boot my phone normally.

Feb 14, 2010Today I launched the sprint cup app and it said I needed an update. Then I proceeded to download and install the app. I told the phone to install from unknown sources, so that isn't the issue. Then when it went too install it still told me that this app could not be installed. I'm guessing since the way that sprint treats their apps they aren't able to be upgraded via the file from the memory card or something.

Mar 8, 2010Two days ago (Saturday) I reflashed the CL14 update because my phone was constantly locking up (as in an eternal sleep that cannot be woken up, and the phone cannot be turned on unless the battery had been removed first) or going into the fake airplane mode.So, I installed about 10 different apps to start... the phone continued to work wonderfully all the way until just now.About 1 hour ago I ran the update on Sprint Navigation. An hour later, LOCKUP!I'm going to see if it locks up again. Then I'm going to reflash CL14 AGAIN and not update Sprint Nav.

Jun 4, 2010Ok, my phone worked perfectly before I installed 2.1. I did a hard reset before I installed 2.1. It ran fine for about 20 minutes while I played with all the new features (I really like 2.1 when its working) but literally about every 20 minutes when I check my phone, the damn thing is OFF. Its really pissing me off. So I turn it back on, and within 20 minutes its off again. Im about to smash this damn thing. I've reinstalled 2.1 twice, hard reset, soft reset, and every combination of the 3. WTF is the problem!?

Mar 1, 2010We can now do partial flashes with the CL14 SBL.... If you have not had the CL14 official update yet, you can follow these steps to get it:
Remember... THIS WILL PUT THE CL14 BOOTLOADER ON YOUR PHONE!
What you need:
Sprints Update Utility
1. Create a datatool back-up.
2. Download and install Sprints Update Utility found above.
3. Run the program (now called SWUpdater) and follow all the directions until it says "Flash Downloading Complete".
Once you have the official CL14 update on your phone, or if you already had it, and you would like to flash SDX/Joey's Kernel (and Max's Recovery), follow the steps below.
What you need:
CL14 official update
An SDX/Joey's Kernel
Max's Recovery
1. Create a datatool back-up... (Although you most likely wont need it if you are just flashing a kernel.... But JUST in case, you should create a datatool back-up if you aren't confident that you wont wipe your data!)
2. After downloading and installing Sprints Update Utility, go into the binary folder (C:Program FilesSamsung ElectronicsSWUpgradeModelsBinary) and move the CL14 file to a safe place, MAKE SURE IT IS NO LONGER IN THE BINARY FOLDER.
3. Find the Kernel you want to flash and put it in the binary folder.
Note: Now you should only have one file in the binary folder (the custom kernel). Also make sure that if the file you are putting into the binary folder says 7zip or winrar, extract it!! If you dont you will get the message "Cannot access bin folder!", and you will not be able to start the download.
4. On your desktop there should be a program named SWUpgrade. Run the program and follow all of the steps through the end. After every thing finishes successfully, you will end up with STOCK CL14, this includes the CL14 SBL, along with the custom kernel you put in the binary folder (you are root).
5. Double check that everything worked by going into Settings-About Phone, under BaseBand version you should see S:M900.8.0S.CL14, under Kernel version= 2.6.27 moment(at)momentdev, under Build number= Joey's name (or any other developer who's kernel you put in the binary folder).
6. Repeat steps 1-4, putting Max's recovery in the binary folder instead of the kernel.
7. You're all set.
(If you happen to want to flash one of Zefie's kernels, repeat steps 1-4 also.)
It wasn't a great thing to get the CL14 update before, because it was hard to obtain root. But now with Sprints Update Utility, and all the new kernels, we are able to get root with the CL14 SBL easily.
Samsung Moment :: How To Get Screen To Stay On When Charging?
Mar 28, 2010I am on my second Moment because my first one failed the Sprint signal test But on that phone i had it set up so that when it was plugged in charging, the phones screen always stayed on. But I don't remember how I did that or what setting I went into. I also have Open Home installed and running on the first phone and now my new phone, i've searched through and through all setting for the phone itself and for Open Home and can not find how I changed it.

Dec 9, 2009I've been playing with my camera today, and finally figure out how to take decent pix, but after scrolling through my album, I tried to go to the camera again, but now everytime I try the screen is black. And it stays black even after I remove my battery. A few times, I couldn't even get to home--the screen just stayed black.
Now it's still black when I go to the camera, but at least I can access home without having to remove my battery. I called Bestbuy and they said I can exchange, but I'm afraid I might get one with a messed up GPS. :-( Will Bestbuy fix it or make me exchange? Will Sprint fix it even though I'm still in my 30-day trial?

Feb 9, 2010Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Jan 16, 2010I went in on Friday morning to the Sprint store and got the update for my Moment. I must say it fixed my key complaints. When I got back to my office (where I never got GPS reading before) it showed me on Google maps right where I was -Yeah! The lag in keystroke to letters appearing appears to be almost entirely gone. And Battery Life is really improved - to a crazy point (in a good way). I pulled it off the charger this morning, checked some scores today and then pretty much spent all evening downloading apps / playing games, etc and I was shocked when I got done - Still had about 70% battery life. Good job Sprint. I would have liked to have had this w/o going into the store, but it only took about 15 minutes and I have store close by, so no biggie.

With the Big promotions I tried getting the moment throught best buy 179 deal for existing customers but sprint told best buy that I wasnt at 22 months on my current contract ( which is the 500 sero plan through 8/1/2010 ) so I cant get and upgrade ( except 75 bucks off the msrp through sprint ). Im pretty pissed, what options do I have?

May 15, 2010Why is the 2.1 update for the Moment so complex. I have a droid and convinced my mother to get the moment a few months ago when she was do for an upgrade. She was over last night and I went to update her phone for her. Verizon updates are easy. You put an update.zip file on your sd card, reboot into recover, apply update.zip, reboot and your done. No computer needed since with Astro you can copy paste the update.zip file to the proper location if you download it via your phone. Not so with the moment. You have to download a .exe file and leave the device connected to your computer? there is a multi page guide to read? what? And no over the air update at all? With verizon you only had to do the update manually if you were too impatient to wait for your hand set to get the update OTA. This is another example of why sprint is doing so poorly. This is terrible customer service. My computer has all of its usb ports broken, but i have my phone rooted and flash new roms all the time and the lack of usb ports is no problem but i couldn't even update my mothers phone to a long awaited update because of this.

Apr 30, 2010I am trying to install the new update that a rep at sprint told me to install using the SWupdate tool and I have a problem.
When I connect the phone when its NOT in download mode the USB composite device is detected and works. Everything is okay.
When in download mode, it will NOT work. The device is detected but it gives me the (The device cannot start) Code 10.
I have tried hundreds of things, including formatting and reinstalling a XP version on my comp.

May 10, 2010Just did the software update for my moment and now I can't get on the market or internet.This really sucks.The only reason I did the upgrade was in order to use the bluetooth transfer app, which still doesn't work with Samsung.I'm really fighting not to throw my phone against the wall.Does anyone know how to fix my problems, or is it a way to do a rollback and use the old software.Everytime I go to Market, it says "A network error has occurred.Retry or cancel and return to the previous screen".It's been like a whole day now with the same message.

May 16, 2010After the update was complete, I got a white screen with red letters at the top that says "Cannot find jpg or png!" and now the phone won't work. I cannot redo the update because it loses connection with it after the 2nd powercycle in the update. Is there a way to fix this?
