Samsung Moment :: Sprint Cup Mobile Update
Feb 14, 2010
Today I launched the sprint cup app and it said I needed an update. Then I proceeded to download and install the app. I told the phone to install from unknown sources, so that isn't the issue. Then when it went too install it still told me that this app could not be installed. I'm guessing since the way that sprint treats their apps they aren't able to be upgraded via the file from the memory card or something.

Sprint Nextel Corporation - Investor Relations - RSS Content. Kudos to Sprint, this is coming just in time for the March Madness, which is great! I hope this has been tested for enough viewer capacity because it sure will be tested by every Sprint TV customer. I am watching Lafayette v. Lehigh game live. I can definitely wait for Sprint to prepare another app to replace NFL Mobile Live for before the Football games start. Hope this is the beginning for a long season of good news from Sprint, Android 2.1 should be around the corner.

would someone please give me the full URL of the Sprint mobile webpage that usually starts up when you load the stock browser? On the rom on my rooted phone for some reason it is set to go to the us cellular page and I much preferred the sprint one.

I tried to run the Sprint app for NFL mobile, but it says I need an upgrade. It then downloads an application from a site I don't know. When I tried to launch it (I know, don't launch unknown things), it blocks the installation because I'm still set to the Sprint/default setting of only allowing applications from the Android Market.Has anyone else tried this or have any concerns? It seems a little odd to me. On my previous phones, Sprint upgraded their apps and I had to install everything from them. Since this phone uses the Market, it's obviously a change in procedure.
Should I change the setting to do this one install, and then go back? Or should there be some other approved way for Sprint to distribute updates to their own apps?

I was trying to update to 2.1 using the Sprint update tool and it froze. I tried again and my phone is able to go into download mode, but it isn't recognized by the update tool. I also cannot boot my phone normally.

If you read this before the edit ignore. I know better. After a power cycle the app works great. After the update make sure you turn you phone off and back on.

Two days ago (Saturday) I reflashed the CL14 update because my phone was constantly locking up (as in an eternal sleep that cannot be woken up, and the phone cannot be turned on unless the battery had been removed first) or going into the fake airplane mode. So, I installed about 10 different apps to start... the phone continued to work wonderfully all the way until just now.About 1 hour ago I ran the update on Sprint Navigation. An hour later, LOCKUP!I'm going to see if it locks up again. Then I'm going to reflash CL14 AGAIN and not update Sprint Nav.

We can now do partial flashes with the CL14 SBL.... If you have not had the CL14 official update yet, you can follow these steps to get it:
Remember... THIS WILL PUT THE CL14 BOOTLOADER ON YOUR PHONE!
What you need:
Sprints Update Utility
1. Create a datatool back-up.
2. Download and install Sprints Update Utility found above.
3. Run the program (now called SWUpdater) and follow all the directions until it says "Flash Downloading Complete".
Once you have the official CL14 update on your phone, or if you already had it, and you would like to flash SDX/Joey's Kernel (and Max's Recovery), follow the steps below.
What you need:
CL14 official update
An SDX/Joey's Kernel
Max's Recovery
1. Create a datatool back-up... (Although you most likely wont need it if you are just flashing a kernel.... But JUST in case, you should create a datatool back-up if you aren't confident that you wont wipe your data!)
2. After downloading and installing Sprints Update Utility, go into the binary folder (C:Program FilesSamsung ElectronicsSWUpgradeModelsBinary) and move the CL14 file to a safe place, MAKE SURE IT IS NO LONGER IN THE BINARY FOLDER.
3. Find the Kernel you want to flash and put it in the binary folder.
Note: Now you should only have one file in the binary folder (the custom kernel). Also make sure that if the file you are putting into the binary folder says 7zip or winrar, extract it!! If you dont you will get the message "Cannot access bin folder!", and you will not be able to start the download.
4. On your desktop there should be a program named SWUpgrade. Run the program and follow all of the steps through the end. After every thing finishes successfully, you will end up with STOCK CL14, this includes the CL14 SBL, along with the custom kernel you put in the binary folder (you are root).
5. Double check that everything worked by going into Settings-About Phone, under BaseBand version you should see S:M900.8.0S.CL14, under Kernel version= 2.6.27 moment(at)momentdev, under Build number= Joey's name (or any other developer who's kernel you put in the binary folder).
6. Repeat steps 1-4, putting Max's recovery in the binary folder instead of the kernel.
7. You're all set.
(If you happen to want to flash one of Zefie's kernels, repeat steps 1-4 also.)
It wasn't a great thing to get the CL14 update before, because it was hard to obtain root. But now with Sprints Update Utility, and all the new kernels, we are able to get root with the CL14 SBL easily.

Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account. Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Maybe we can work out a swap. Now for the additional 1 to 2 feet of snow that is forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow, on top of the 2.5 feet still on the ground.

I went in on Friday morning to the Sprint store and got the update for my Moment. I must say it fixed my key complaints. When I got back to my office (where I never got GPS reading before) it showed me on Google maps right where I was -Yeah! The lag in keystroke to letters appearing appears to be almost entirely gone. And Battery Life is really improved - to a crazy point (in a good way). I pulled it off the charger this morning, checked some scores today and then pretty much spent all evening downloading apps / playing games, etc and I was shocked when I got done - Still had about 70% battery life. Good job Sprint. I would have liked to have had this w/o going into the store, but it only took about 15 minutes and I have store close by, so no biggie.

Ive been on Sprint for a few years now, currently using the Diamond which is the biggest pile of trash ever pushed on to a mobile phone user. With the Big promotions I tried getting the moment throught best buy 179 deal for existing customers but sprint told best buy that I wasnt at 22 months on my current contract ( which is the 500 sero plan through 8/1/2010 ) so I cant get and upgrade ( except 75 bucks off the msrp through sprint ). Im pretty pissed, what options do I have?

Is there anyway to access my main sprint account on my phone (samsung moment) through the web broswer. I can access it through my PC fine but when I try to access it on my phone it takes me to alternative sprint site either "downloads" section or "sprint web". I turned off gps and location but to no avail.

I switched to a Moment today and while setting things up Ive yet to locate where you disable "mobile versions" of websites. I had a Hero and there was a setting where you could disable the mobile view and see the natural version of a website.

Does anyone know how to completely disable the mobile network on the Moment? I need to so I can use it for my Battle.net mobile authenticator while I am using my fiance's new Samsung Reclaim for a month (to get the upgrade price on it) and she has my Hero. Basically, anytime I need data on it, I want to use WiFi but if I leave it on it can and will probably mess up calls on the Hero. My Hero has a nice little check box to disable the mobile network, but the Moment doesn't.

anyone else having this problem? using 2.1 under caulkin's kernel. it seems like I can kind of overload the phone doing too much and the mobile network connection on my phone will disappear completely. this is while downloading something that may download too fast, sometimes it happens loading .GIF images too. I'll have to restart the phone to get the internet back. this happens no matter if I'm using wireless, USB or bluetooth tethering.

Just bought this sprint samsung moment a few weeks ago, and I was wondering why I can't upload mobile pics from my phone to facebook. I have the facebook app on my phone and it does not seem to let me upload mobile pic's. In order for me to upload pic's I have to go to the mobile version of facebook and upload the pic via some email wich then post the pic for u, but the problem is it seems to post my pic's side ways.
I know lots of folks with other phones some of them crappy that just click on the photo and select upload to facebook....why can't I do that on this phone? Why does this phone not give me the option to upload from the pic? Why does the facebook app FOR android not let me upload photo's?

Is there a program or something that will back up contacts like dashwire does for windows mobile? Basically on dashwire you would install it, it would sync and upload your contacts....then if you ever had to reset the phone, reinstall the program and all your contacts are downloaded to your phone.

Why is the 2.1 update for the Moment so complex. I have a droid and convinced my mother to get the moment a few months ago when she was do for an upgrade. She was over last night and I went to update her phone for her. Verizon updates are easy. You put an update.zip file on your sd card, reboot into recover, apply update.zip, reboot and your done. No computer needed since with Astro you can copy paste the update.zip file to the proper location if you download it via your phone. Not so with the moment. You have to download a .exe file and leave the device connected to your computer? there is a multi page guide to read? what? And no over the air update at all? With verizon you only had to do the update manually if you were too impatient to wait for your hand set to get the update OTA. This is another example of why sprint is doing so poorly. This is terrible customer service. My computer has all of its usb ports broken, but i have my phone rooted and flash new roms all the time and the lack of usb ports is no problem but i couldn't even update my mothers phone to a long awaited update because of this.
