Samsung Moment :: How To Make Moment A Wireless Tether For Internee?
Dec 8, 2009So i had a hard decision to make when buying a new phone. It was between the HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment. After about 2 weeks I finally made the jump. A lot of the apps are on the I phone and I touch which is pretty cool. But can anyone tell me if it is possible to maybe change the phone kinda like jail breaking? Is there anyway of making the Moment a wireless tether for internee?

Jul 19, 2010Would this be a ROM issue? Maybe an issue with Launcher Pro Beta? When I hit my home screen button, it takes a few seconds for my shortcuts and widgets to load. I really like LPB but am not liking how long it's taking to load. I set it as my only launcher in my ROM that I made so I can't go into another launcher and see if it's slow, does anyone think that could be the culprit?

Sep 5, 2010Is there anyway to make certain apps private, hidden or locked on the menu screen. I have lil brothers and nephews who I don't mind playing games or watching movies on my phone; but I don't want them getting into certain "adult" apps or my fake call and sms apps. I believe it's possible to do b/c there's an app called Call Log (Secret Monitor) that has in its description "No icon in the list of applications. Completely hidden at you eyes". I downloaded it just to check and it really doesn't appear in the menu. So does anyone know how to do it for any app that we choose?

Jun 11, 2010On my second Moment and this one has been ok(with the exception of airplane mode) until now... I tried to send a text eariler and I got the message not sent error then I tried to make a phone call and it wouldent go through.. the call timer didn't even pop up. The odd thing is my internet works fine... I. Went back to factory settings via menu privacy reset and still no phone.

May 30, 2010OK. I asked this a different way but I'd like to get some more input. The loudness on the phone is definitely lower after the 2.1 update. To the point that the speakerphone can't be used in the car while under 1.5 it could be used (it was very loud). A lot of discussion on this topic and the only fix given is using a leaked program that is copyrighted. Is there a way to change the phone settings for loudness without using this program? It is almost like they applied that EU loudness mandate. Makes the speakerphone useless now for me.

Feb 3, 2010I do have a few questions about the phone. i was wondering if there is a way to make text messages alerts show up on my screen. i have an app that shows if i have one unread but it is pretty small. every other phone i've had had a pretty big notification for texts. also is there a way to have the screen light up when you get a text? there is a sound that plays when i get a text, but the screen does not light up. not sure if im just missing something, but is there a way to set different tones for different notification? right now the same thing plays when i plug my phone in, that plays when i get a text. none of these are huge issues, but i am just curious if there is a way to make some changes on the phone. im sure ill figure it out or just get used to it.

Mar 16, 2010Is there an application (or one in the works) that will allow us to apply a sound effect to the slider opening and closing? Maybe base it off of when the screen rotates + keyboard lights up? I would love to apply 2 seperate notifications. One for open and one for close. Anyone got an application like this in the works or know of one that would work on Samsung Moment? I know there is a notification for when you unplug the power, but I'd love to have 2 seperate from that for JUST the slider. I can't believe we can't modify seperate notification sounds custom without apps.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. Nov 26, 2010Big problem, I was using my phone and it ended up crashing and stalling. Took phone battery out and put back in to restart the unit. Now on startup it shows me the galaxy s gt1m900 scrren, then turns off. If the power is plugged in, it will loop continiously. No clue how to get it back up and running, I did manage to get to the "downloading - do not turn off phone" screen but thats as different of a result i could get..

Jul 21, 2010I know some of you have been wanting to get rid of that annoying startup sound on your phone. Here's what you'll need....(some instructions copied from Maerlim to save time)
You'll need the Android SDK (guide to download and install is here)
You'll need the USB drivers (Stickied post in this forum)
You'll need root access (look for the Captivate Root thread by chaoscentral)
You'll need Busybox (available on the market after you root the phone)
Connect USB to phone with USB Debugging ON
Open a Windows Command prompt in the SDK install directory
cd tools
adb shell
su
cd etc
*******************
I suggest backing up the file before deleting
cp PowerOn.wav /sdcard/
*******************
rm PowerOn.wav
exit
exit
THAT'S IT! I renamed the Windows 7 logon .wav file to PowerOn.wav and copied it to the /etc directory on the phone played it on startup, so you should be able to put whatever you like in there!
If you want to copy a file there.....
Open a Windows Command prompt in the SDK install directory
cd tools
adb push "the location and name of the file on your pc" /sdcard (example adb push %userprofile%DesktopPowerOn.wav /sdcard)
adb shell
su
cp /sdcard/PowerOn.wav /etc
exit
exit
