Samsung Moment :: Help Replacing Digitizer?

My 14yo daughter worked a summer job during the school break and with her hard earned $$ she purchased her "baby"... a Samsung Moment SPH-M900. She is so proud she bought it with her own money & you couldn't pry it from her fingers. Well... to get onto my subject matter; three weeks later (and on her 14th birthday) she accidently dropped it and shattered the glass lens over the lcd touch screen. Imagine her disappointment! Surprisingly, everything on the phone still works. We've obtained a few repair quotes, but $100 to $120 is a bit out-of-budget for her and us (parents) at this time. However, I did order a replacement digitizer I found on line by OEM for $25 that comes with two tools for the job. I am an experienced modeler as well as electronic savy yet my daughter is very reluctant in allowing me to do surgery on her baby. Can anyone instruct me on this proceedure or direct me to a site with schematics and/or details of the repair to help ease her conscience?

I think at this point the cheapest option would be for me to buy a replacement digitizer ($65) and try and do the replacement myself. Does anyone know how to do this? Or know of a youtube link or website that has step by step instructions for replacing the digitizer?

I just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Nexus 4 after i dropped it and the screen cracked. It was still in working condition after the damage, but the touch screen was unresponsive. The installation went pretty smoothly but when I went to boot it up after it gets stuck at the bootup screen with the 4 bubbles. I tried some of the solutions people found for a similar problem a few months back when Google released Kit Kat 4.4 for the Nexus 4 but none of them have worked for me. There doesn't seem to be any hardware functionality issues, just some software glitch that I can't figure out.

Multi-touch issue, was promised late last year then was announced that it wasn't going to happen, can we replace the digitizer so we can get dual/multi-touch? Ninth Issue Now it seems that SE don't want to talk about Multi-touch, I just don't understand how come Xperia X10 has a single touch digitizer but X10mini has a dual touch digitizer but it's disabled so it can only work as a single touch. My question is this: Can we replace the digitizer in the Xperia X10 to a Dual or Multi-touch digitizer? Multi-touch fiasco: SE kept saying that Xperia X10 was Dual/Multiple touch capable, it was confirmed during Mobile World Congress, it was later "corrected", and Sumit Malhotra in the official Sony Ericsson blog said that the Xperia X10 was going to have Multi-touch with an OS update which few months later and after thousands of unanswered post by customers and SE fans we learned the truth that its not software but a hardware issue, in other words, its cheaper for SE to buy single touch digitizer for a 4inch screen than ironically buying a dual touch digitizer for the x10 mini but block it through software, yeah the x10 mini has hardware capable of dual touch but: " I noted some of your comments asking for the multi touch support. Having shared our personal experiences using the new UI within our team, we just love it the way it is and think that multi-touch would actually just destroy the simplicity of using these products. I've rooted my phone and used TitaniumBackup to remove the AT&T bloatware. I've also configured it for sideloading apps so I could load the SiriusXM app from their website. Of course - now I can't get the OTA update. I just get the error where it says it's downloading, restarts the phone, says it's installing then reboots the phone again and says the update failed.
Maybe the OTA update is trying to update one of the bloatware apps and that's why it's failing? Or would removing the Superuser app (unrooting) and Busybox be enough to get the update?
Either way - because I deleted the apps using TitaniumBackup I have no backup (I know, I'm an idiot). I thought I did a TB backup before removing the apps but I have no idea where to look to restore them. They aren't listed in the app list when I click on Backup/Restore.

Suppose I like another email app better than the one that is built in. How can I make it so the email icon on my home screen goes to that app instead of the factory email app? Or maybe there is a way to delete the factory icon and insert a new one in that area?

Just called O2 about my Galaxy, It keeps shutting down and I cannot power up without first removing and replacing the battery, I's just over 1 month old and they deny any knowledge of this happening at all, They want me to send it for repair and have the priviledge of waiting up to 14 days to get it returned whilst I merrily pay a contract fee to them!

Is there any way to change the four main icons (I'm not sure what to call it) that appear at the bottom on every page? I downloaded Handcent to use for my SMS because I like the way it looks better, etc. But I wish I could just remove the "Messaging" and replace it with Handcent so that I have access to it from every page instead of having to click on the Handcent App every time.

On my galaxy S, it comes standard news page on the 2nd home screen, called AP news or something, is there any way of getting this replaced, by bbc news, or UK times? As a UK based person I really don't care about news in USA. If there is no way or doing this, is there any way of adding the news screen BACK to the 2nd home screen.

Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. I have replaced my Evo4g digitizer following a major fall. I had to replace the lcd screen as well. Since then, my Evo has had to have the digitizer replaced twice in the past two weeks due to it cracking. It cracks with very little, if any pressure is put on it, as it is in my pocket when this occurs. Why would my digitizer keep cracking? What could I have possibly done wrong during the replacement process that would cause the digitizer to crack?

Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.

I currently own a Palm Pre and I'm ready to ditch it for an Android device. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

I bought a new screen for my HTC Sensation and now I can't drag. I can still tap stuff, but it's not as responsive. I downloaded several touchscreen testing apps and it seems like when I press the screen for more than 1 second, the digitizer can no longer detect my touch. So if I try to drag something, it works for 1 second, then the screen can't detect my finger anymore.
Is this a problem with the new digitizer or is this a software issue? I'm using ViperS 1.4.1.

May I know how to delete or replace the 4 default icons (Dialer, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications) on the Galaxy S main screen? The reason for me doing this is because I wanted to use the Handcent SMS app instead of the default Android SMS app as I am getting used to the Handcent one.

So I got caught in the rain and the phone died. I tried to turn it on the day after and the touchscreen was completely weird, it acted like I pushed all over the place. I turned it off and put it in rice for 4-5 days. When I turned it on the bottom half of the screen worked for a day, then it stopped working again. I put it in rice for about 10 days, then I used a hairdryer for about 5 hours on low heat.
Now, still only half the touchscreen works. Sometimes it wants to go helicopter view when I'm only using one finger, sometimes the notification bar is activated if I'm playing around in the lower regions and sometimes the screen stops being responsive at all. Thinking I'm the handyman I just ordered a new digitizer, but I have no real idea if that's the problem or not. Can something have corroded inside and caused this, or will a new digitizer most likely fix this?
New digitizer: 40 usd. Insurance: 160 usd. Obviously I want it to be the digitizer

My sitch is this: My HTC Incredible has broken screen and digitizer. Otherwise the phone seems to power up and work. I have all my pictures stored on the internal memory (boo). Is there any way to get to the internal memory given that I can't set the phone to USB Debugging mode? Is there an app that I can install on my pc that will allow me to "press buttons" on the phone? I have installed DroidExplorer and I can see the phone, and the sync works... But thats it.

I purchased a replacement digitizer for my broken Nexus 7 (first generation). Now, the *first* step of the repair process is to power-off the Nexus 7...
BUT It's BROKEN! I cannot press on 'power off' option when holding the power button for 10 seconds - that resets the unit.
How am I supposed to power it down?

I've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?

I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
Does anyone know if there is a way for me to use my upgrade to aquire the Moment without commiting to the data plan?

set up the wifes new moment her gmail still says 109 unread I went intp gmail on the pc and marked all as read then refreshed on the phone, no luck, tried going to manage apps and clearing all gmail and refreshing, still no luck short of one by one deleting all 109 any way to fix the count?
