I bought beautiful widgets yesterday for its hero style clock, but it killed my battery within 6 hours today. I was wondering if anyone had tried weather widget donate version on their moment and if drains the battery like beautiful widgets does? I don't want to pay for another widget if it is gonna kill my battery like this one.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI was comparing the Moment with the Intercept (for my daughter) and wondered whether the Moment had chat style messaging or not. I see the Intercept does, but the Moment seemed like a nicer phone (better screen, more responsive). I know the Moment is EOL, but for my daughter's purposes I'm not worried about this. If it doesn't do chat style texting, is there an app/widget that allows this on the Moment?

View 36 Replies View RelatedI got my moment about one month. I noticed the alarm clock sometime worked, sometime not. Especially set up run time over 5 or 6 hours. If it passed the setup time, the alarm clock didn't run, but the setup time still showed on the locked screen (before you unlock your phone). It should show the next run time, not the last run time. I use advanced task killer to kill everything before I go to bed. Is that related?

View 21 Replies View RelatedI've had my rooted moment (radioactive froyo w launcherpro) for about a week now and I am having serious problems with the alarm. Specifically, the snooze/dismiss box isn't popping up, or perhaps the screen isn't waking up at all. It happens almost every morning. frequently when I am staying at my partners house and waking up in the wee hours the thing will go off, I bolt up and am swiping, pressing side buttons (they were set to dismiss in alarm settings), trying to smother the whole phone with my hands, etc. More than once I've had to do a battery pull in desperation as she yells at me that people are trying to sleep. The alarm pops up as normal if I do a test alarm set a minute in the future. Unfortunately it is a quite difficult to remember what exactly happens to me at any given 6am. Is it possible I'm not having this problem in my tests bc the alarm is still loaded in ram? What's the deal here? I need a working alarm.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've used the default alarm clock that comes stock with the phone. Since I only need the alarm clock for weekday reminders, I'd prefer that the pone just vibrates or allows me to choose a more soothing "alarm" tone.
The only tones available for this alarm clock are extremely annoying and loud "alarms" that are not suitable in the classroom. (No, I am not a college student, but rather a principal at a private school.)
There are many ways to make the stock alarm clock work, but I can't find any of these settings.
I'd like to change the stock alarm clock program to simply vibrate with no alarm noise.
I'd like the choice to add a more quieter alarm sound, or lower the sound of the alarm ringer.
I'd like to change the functions of the buttons on the side of the phone--default settings are to snooze the alarm I guess? By the time I get the phone out of my pocket, one of the side keys are pressed, dooming to another annoying sound in exactly 10 minutes.
I'm diggin the Phone 7 clock. Simple and stylish. Anyone know of an android widget that gives that sort of style to my droid incredible?

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a Sprint customer looking for an Android phone for basic functions. I am trying to choose between the Hero and the Moment. I have 1 of each right now from Sprint, on the 30 day trial. Here are the challenges I find with each. Does anyone know of any fixes for these?
Hero
1) Phone hangs up during calls because of lack of proximity sensor
2) Speaker phone wont turn off once activated, unless I end the call
3) Vibration mode is very weak and basically useless. Cant feel it in my pocket
4) Sprint Navigation does not work
Moment
1) Battery runs out before end of day
2) Bluetooth is spotty and wont always connect
3) Web navigation not as smooth as Hero.

At the bottom it says "ANYONE WANT TO TEST THIS METHOD ON THE DROID ERIS AND THE CLIQ? Don't see why it wouldn't work identically" I decided to give this a shot on the moment to no avail.I get all the way to "/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh"then I receive "[1] Killed /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh" not sure if I should get that or not But I tried to then remount /system as rw (mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system) and got "operation not permitted"Anyone give this a shot and get different results?

I am wondering if you are able to run a APK from a rooted hero on the moment?? I have a hero that is rooted running fresh 2.1.1 The wife has a moment that we are going to root shortly. She likes the yahoo messenger from my phone better then anything from the market and her stock one. So my question would be, since I have access to the apk's is it possible to add it to her phone and have it work?? She would also like me to be able to add the teeter program that only came on the hero. If this is possible please let me know so I can make her happy with her Yahoo again. this is how we chat when she is working so I would really like to be able to do it for her.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter using the Moment for 28 days, I decided to exchange it for the HTC Hero. Generally, I could give or take the Moment. It is my first experience with Android, and though I quickly fell in love with the OS, I don't have anything else to compare it to (Android-based). The keyboard is ok. The camera is not quite comparable to the camera on my BB Tour. The call quality is excellent. The speaker phone quality is terrible. The build quality is decent, but the phone (as many have mentioned) is a brick. The biggest problem I have is that I constantly mute and dial other numbers when on a call (proximity sensor problem). I very randomly decided to exchange my Moment for the Hero. I guess it was because of my indifference towards the Moment. I just wanted to try something else. I have now been using the Hero for 4 days. My thoughts when comparing it to the Moment? ...wow, it blows the Moment clear out of the water. What a difference, especially with the Android experience. The tweaks HTC made to the Android platform with Sense is just beautiful. The overall operation of the phone runs so much more smoothly than the Moment. The difference is night and day. I have heard many complain that the Hero lags. I really have not noticed this. The switch between landscape and portrait is slower than the Moment, but definitely not a deal breaker by any means.

The problem began when I started programming...my spinners are the solid gray rectangular style (unlike the newer style with the triangle in the lower right corner). When I started developing this app several months ago, I couldn't figure out why my spinners were different (after many hours) so I just ignored it. I'm at the point now of polishing my program and want the newer spinner style. So, I'm beating my head against the wall again. I went to my Android SDK Mananger in Eclipse and updated my Android SDK Tools, Platform-tools, and Build-tools. I have the lastest versions of all of these (22.3 and 19.0.1). When I create a new project, the newer spinner style appears. However, none of my older projects changed. They still have the same old gray, rectangular type spinners. I tried using a "android format" line command I found while Googling, but no luck with that either.I'm using ADT Bundle with build v22.2.1-833290 on a Mac OSX Mavericks.

The android:text is properly set in my instance, but the borderDrawable is not. I guess this has something to do with namespaces, because inside the styles.xml, the name="mypack:borderDrawable" is not handled by the XML parser's namespace facility, because its inside an attribute value. So "mypack" is in no way connected to "http://some.weird.url.com/seems/not/to/ matter" and adding it via xmlns:mypack... to the stylefile would not help, I guess. In the same file, "android:text" is somehow recognized, even though "android" is AFAIK only a ns-defintion for [url], which is also not declared in that file.
So what is the proper way to set a custom attribute in a style?
Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.
