Sprint HTC Hero :: Rooted Hero Vs Rooted Moment
Jan 15, 2010There's been a lot of comparison between the stock Hero and Moment but I was wondering if anyone has played with both a rooted Hero and Moment. Becoming more and more set on switching over to the Hero.Rooted & got CL14 on my Moment last night thanks to zefie, numus, and the great guys at sdx, but maybe I just had my expectations too high as I didn't see a large improvement over the stock kernel & ROM, esp in speed (did fix the battery meter and improved battery life thank god!).I understand rooting a Hero makes it faster but by how much? How does it compare to a rooted Moment running a home replacement app (like PandaHome)? This way I feel it's comparing apples to apples in terms of experience, as opposed to compared to a rooted Moment running stock home.Ever since I got the Moment, I've been trying to get Sense-like stuff on it (like a lot of ppl haha). Coming from the less-sophisticated BB Curve, I was surprised when stock Android didn't support things like Facebook integration (I know it's coming in 2.1, but HTC has it now).

Nov 6, 2009I know nothing about rooting phones, so i thought Id ask here. Im in the process of choosing between the moment and the hero, and I cant decide. The biggest concern I have is how fast will the Moment be rooted. Its sounding like they are close with the Hero, and once that is done will that make it easier for someone to figure out how to root the moment? Or is it like starting from scratch from phone to phone? Im also a bit concerned that no one at XDA will be helping with the process since the moment is not an HTC phone. I had a Treo800 when it first cameout, and it seemed like it took FOREVER for roms to make it way to that device. Any thoughts?

At the bottom it says "ANYONE WANT TO TEST THIS METHOD ON THE DROID ERIS AND THE CLIQ? Don't see why it wouldn't work identically" I decided to give this a shot on the moment to no avail.I get all the way to "/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh"then I receive "[1] Killed /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh" not sure if I should get that or not But I tried to then remount /system as rw (mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system) and got "operation not permitted"Anyone give this a shot and get different results?
Anyone got ideas to make this work on the moment?
Samsung Moment :: Rooted Moment Adding Hero APK
Jun 4, 2010I am wondering if you are able to run a APK from a rooted hero on the moment?? I have a hero that is rooted running fresh 2.1.1 The wife has a moment that we are going to root shortly. She likes the yahoo messenger from my phone better then anything from the market and her stock one. So my question would be, since I have access to the apk's is it possible to add it to her phone and have it work?? She would also like me to be able to add the teeter program that only came on the hero. If this is possible please let me know so I can make her happy with her Yahoo again. this is how we chat when she is working so I would really like to be able to do it for her.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. The phone currently isn't on a plan so at best I can use WiFi at home (none that I can find at work that aren't secured). Sprint said itself that the Hero/Moment would be getting software updates. They didn't say 2.0, but HTC already said they're skipping 1.6 for 2.0. It would be suicide for Sprint to go to 1.6 when Verizon will have 2.0 in 3 days.

Aug 7, 2010My phone is rooted. I was able to get rid of a few stock apps I did not use. However, now my phone is overheating, battery life is about the same as before, (short) and I cannot tell there are any tangible improvements with the rooting procedure!... Applications take time to load up, and touching screen to open them freezes now and then constantly. Is it the phone or is it the rooting that is causing the problem??

With the Big promotions I tried getting the moment throught best buy 179 deal for existing customers but sprint told best buy that I wasnt at 22 months on my current contract ( which is the 500 sero plan through 8/1/2010 ) so I cant get and upgrade ( except 75 bucks off the msrp through sprint ). I can access it through my PC fine but when I try to access it on my phone it takes me to alternative sprint site either "downloads" section or "sprint web". Mar 30, 2010I successfully rooted my phone with Speedrabbit 1.7 (in like 5 minutes) then I did Recovery (which took hours cause I couldn't get it to load) and now I have removed a few of the unwanted apps Sweet right? Well, not so sweet, everything is moving extremely slow and there is an even bigger lag than before! Now this was happening before I removed apps so I know I didn't mess anything up there.
