Samsung Moment :: Does The Moment Have Dedicated 3D Processor Like IPhone?
Nov 19, 2009Just got a Moment on Tuesday, and this forum has been super helpful with getting started on the phone, so thanks to everyone. I'm coming over to Android from the original iPhone, so I thought I would write up some of my experiences so far.Love the phone, love the ability to customize phone functions. Love the notification panel up top. The touch response is not as good as my 2 year old iPhone though, that was a disappointment.
Main gripes - my 2 favorite apps for iPhone are Bejeweled and NY Times crossword. Bejeweled on android is a bad imitation of the iPhone version, and NY Times crosswords is not available.Couple of quick questions too Does the Moment have a dedicated 3D processor like iPhone?I transferred music from iTunes on the mac (latest version) to the SD card on the moment. Only one album seems to show the tagging correctly. Any ideas on that?
Samsung Moment :: Smaller Than IPhone ?
Jan 10, 2010Why do some people say the Moment is a "brick"? I haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but according to specs I found online the Moment is smaller than the iPhone in width and height, and only 1.5mm thicker:
Moment: 113.2 x 56.4 x 13.8 mm
iPhone: 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3 mm

Aug 10, 2010my girlfriend just got the samsung moment and there is no facebook app. there is an icon but that just takes her to the mobile site. when i got to the market the "facebook for android" app if not there. I go to appbrain and there it is but when i try to install from there it says the market path is not there.CAN SOMEONE please tell me how to get the app!!!

May 21, 2010Everyone I see who has the Motorola Droid has there Contacts linked to Facebook by default it seems. On the my Moment it doesn't do this. I figured it was because I was running 1.5 and the droid had 2.0.
I've updated to 2.1 and still Facebook doesn't sync at all for the Moment. Does the Moment not do this for some reason? Only Verizon network? Kinda confusing that the Facebook app doesn't do the same thing. I have tried going to Accounts and Sync and tried adding Facebook as new account but nothing happens. Once you click on Facebook it kicks you back to the previous screen.
I also installed SyncMyPix but not really what I wanted and Synced a lot of them incorrectly.
Anyone know a way to sync this?

May 18, 2010Is anyone else having the same problem as me that when you go to add your Facebook account to your phone so your contacts can sync it takes you right back to the Add Account page? I have the Moment and just installed 2.1.

Aug 25, 2010I have a Samsung Moment & I do have the new upgrade on it. My question is that recently since I have upgraded I've been having issues with loading my pictures to Facebook.It seems it wants to "hang" in loading status at 0% or sometimes will only go to like 18% and stay there.I have to power off & on to stop it and retry.And *if* the picture does load it takes FOREVER to.Before it would just fly right through uploading.Sometimes it literally takes HOURS before it will load.I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the Facebook app too.

May 3, 2010I've found some other threads discussing the fact that the default shortcut for Facebook is actually just a shortcut to a browser bookmark for Facebook. If you delete this shortcut, you can re-create it, but it has a boring red flag icon. With a custom bookmark app, you could restore this original icon... but only if you know where to find it. Where is that icon stored? It has to be somewhere on the root of the phone. Using root explorer, I can't find it. I'm guessing it's stored inside of an archive somewhere. Any ways to search more thoroughly?
Related: can I somehow use my PC (Windows explorer) to browse the root of the phone?
Or, can I find it somewhere in the original .tar file containing the flash update for the phone?
(running rooted 2.1 DD10, FWIW).
Samsung Moment :: Web Broswer Works For Facebook Sites?
Mar 25, 2010Okay for some strange reason the default web browser on my Moment has been doing me wrong. Well not wrong but it's acting up on Facebook. I can't access the full site, like I always get the touchscreen one no matter if I touch [full site] or type in the url. Does anyone know if/what other browsing apps are better or will let me accuuss the facebook sites?

As for facebook? How do I get to alert me in pop-up format when I get a message or replied to in facebook? I tried in settings and can't seem to see anything that I can tab for it to pop-up? The only way is when I recieve an email update, and there it shows someone replied to you in facebook or requested you as a friend? Along with email? I would like to see that pop-up like my email, text, etc. but from facebook alone if possible.

Feb 19, 2010Just bought this sprint samsung moment a few weeks ago, and I was wondering why I can't upload mobile pics from my phone to facebook. I have the facebook app on my phone and it does not seem to let me upload mobile pic's. In order for me to upload pic's I have to go to the mobile version of facebook and upload the pic via some email wich then post the pic for u, but the problem is it seems to post my pic's side ways.
I know lots of folks with other phones some of them crappy that just click on the photo and select upload to facebook....why can't I do that on this phone? Why does this phone not give me the option to upload from the pic? Why does the facebook app FOR android not let me upload photo's?

Nov 16, 2009This was originally going to be a post about missing icons. I'll return to that.
I recently installed a (paid) homescreen app called GDE from a guy at XDA developers. It's wonderful, and gives me a choice of the number of homescreens, transition type, and whether the sequence of screens loops or not (appears endless) It works well and is very smooth. I use the box transitions and it's very impressive.
Back to the icons, which will be of interest to anyone who replaces their homescreen app. When I installed GDE, I was basically given 5 blank homescreens. All my shortcuts were gone and had to be re-installed.
Not so bad, because it gave me a chance to re-organize my device. But, I couldn't find my CNN, ESPN, Facebook icons. That's when I started this post, because I thought they were apps, they are not, they are browser favorite shortcuts on the homescreen.
So, if any of you replace your home app and want to restore these, just open your browser, go to favorites, and long hold on the shortcuts you want to install on home.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. Oct 21, 2009I currently own a Palm Pre and I'm ready to ditch it for an Android device. Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

Jan 26, 2010I've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?

Dec 13, 2009I currently have a voice plan, with sprint, for my dying LG Musik and my father's Palm Centro and am seeking to replace my Musik with a Samsung Moment. I have an upgrade available on my account, however I don't want to get locked into a data plan, since I rarely spend any time away from Wifi.
