My phone strips the area code from only one of my contacts preventing the text from going through. I have changed the contact name, deleted and readded, but anytime I try to text this particular number from the contact menu, it doesn't work.

I am sorry if this has been covered. I am coming from a 3g and can't figure out how to add multiple numbers for each contact. The tech @ the at&t store transfered them from my iphone for me. Only one number per contact transferred. Also is it better to store them on the sim card or phone?

a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
Never mind. Contact reappeared for some reason, by itself, after about 10 minutes. Sorry. Useless thread.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.

I have a menu item which when selected would call another activity class. I am using switch case to select between menu items. I tried creating an Intent to start activity using the Class name but doesn't work.
I set a specific ringtone for a contact.. when they call it defaults to the main ringtone... i check their contact info, and the specific ringtone is still set...

The only thing showed is the contact name and his phone number.
With all the sms apps I've tried (stock, hangouts, hello sms, 8sms, evolvesms, chomp, handcent), I didn't find a way to display this information. I always have to do an extra action (clik on contact photo, or title bar) to check if the phone number concerned is 'work' or 'mobile'.
Any tip or a new app to show this info ?
I had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid. I built a sample activity/app 'EdCon' to show this:

When I run this on my G1 running 1.6 it works as expected i.e. brings up the Edit Contact screen for the known index and then I can hit BACK to return to "Hello World, EdCon". Code...

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have my Facebook account set to sync with my contact but I use Google voice all the time for text and phone. Is there a way to get the pictures that go with my contact to show up when they text or call my gvoice number?
All my pictures are from Facebook so if everything works right the pictures I see in gvoice should be the same as the profile pix in FB.
So I made a discovery - my dialpad doesn't work during a call. Even if I bring it up via the softkeys, the numbers don't register a tap...anyone. else have this issue or is it just my phone?

For some reason, even when i'm using their solution files, the context menu does not come up with i 'click and hold' on a list entry.
The class extends ListActivity, and calls "registerForContextMenu(getListView());"
but I never see the context menu fire. Any idea what's wrong with it?
In my contacts list when I press the contacts button, I see each contact once. I have it set to only show contacts from my phone. When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking at my upgrade options and total pricing with regard to the Captivate. When I added the phone as an upgrade, not only did it not make me choose a data plan, it didn't even give me a choice to pick a data plan (at the moment I have just minutes and texts). Is this an error on the ATT system or you can get the phone and the data plan is only set up once you use the phone?
Because what I am thinking is upgrading 2 lines on my family plan - my line with an iPhone which requires data when you purchase the phone, and the Samsung on the line that will not get Data. I will only use one phone (the Samsung on my line) and sell the iPhone brand new in box. Will that work or will ATT realize when I only have one phone in use on my plan even though I 'upgraded/renewed' two lines?
I put my phone on vibrate and everything seems to be working fine except for some parts..when i get a text my vibrate doesn't work [i'm using chompsms] but when i'm on the phone and i get a text my phone ivbrates or when i set the keyboard to vibrate it doesn't work or i get mail notifications of mail or from fb it doesn't work but other than that all the vibrates seem to be working fine. can anyone help me? i was wondering if i could just press the factory reset on my phone to see if that would work but i'm rooted.. would that effect anything? like if i were to do that, would it brick my phone since its rooted? i was going to unroot it and bring it in to sprint but i heard that there were some issues when people tried flashing back so i don't know if i want to do that..

On my previous Android phone with verizon it knew my number. The Google voice app doesn't seem to be able to read my number either but the phone itself seems to work fine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm in a group next with numerous people, mainly iPhone users and group text works perfectly fine with them. However, when receiving text from other android users (GS3 & Note 3), I receive their text separately.
I am currently on a GS3 on 4.3 using the stock messaging app.
1. sometimes when you unlock the screen you get this weird static screen for like half a second
2. holding down the menu button still doesnt do anything
3. when you're charging your phone it doesnt show the percentage
4. cant uninstall where's waldo and midnight bowling.
5. sometimes you have to push the actual unlock button for the screen to turn on instead of any of the buttons (i do this to check the time)
never had the SD card or vibrating problems so i dunno if they got completely fixed.
I have an Android ListView, backed by an ArrayAdapter. When the user clicks on an item in the list, that item is removed. This all appears to work fine, you can click on each item until there are no items left.
However, it all goes wrong once text filtering occurs. Once the list has been filtered once, even if that filter is cleared, all subsequent calls to remove(Object) on the adapter fail to remove the item from the visible list. I've tried calling ListView.clearTextFilter() before removing the item, calling it after removing the item, and not calling it all. There's no difference.
I've looked through the source for ArrayAdapter.java and it seems that once filtering is set, the adapter uses one collection to respond to queries but updates a different one. I can see no obvious way to get it to revert its behaviour. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
I am a business user that has been a Blackberry user.Recently moved the to Samsung Fascinate.Love a lot about it but noticed that the contacts that have phone numbers followed by an extension the Fascinate lumps all of these numbers together rather than dialing the 10 digits and asking me if I want to dial the extension. Thus the call does not even go through because the 16 or more digit number now is not recognized as a valid phone number.Does anyone have a work around with an app or a new release?

Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I open contacts app, i see four options at the top : contacts, groups, history and activities. I have successfully linked my facebook contacts and calendar through SNS setting option (automatically syncs every 1 hour). When i click on the activities menu at the top, I could see all facebook updates in there. Works like a charm. Just one question. Select a particular contact (who also has a facebook account) from the contacts list. You will see four options again: Info, History, Acitivities and Media. When i click on Info i see all the contact information like phone number, email address, Linked contacts, and facebook link under web address. When i click on History, I see all the calls made and received to and from this contact. When i click Acitivities, I just see Link Contact Option and don't see anything else eventhough i have linked my facebook through SNS setting. Also, the media is empty and how do i add one?

Does anyone know what the default number should be? Is it the same for all phones or should I take it to the ATT store and have them fix it? Will a factory reset solve my problems?
