On my bus commute to work, using my 2.1 Samsung Moment, I pass through some areas with less than ideal connectivity. Sometimes when I'm accessing a news app, an exclamation point appears and I lose all connectivity. I usually have to restart the phone to regain connectivity. Is there any other way to regain web access other than restarting the phone?

If my screen locks while I have a wifi connection, then the connection is lost when I unlock the phone.First, is this perhaps deliberate, to save power? Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. It just states 'Obtaining address.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a big fan of just having direct access to my devices (i.e., no sync, no "management" front end). So this isn't about local access from the device (using MyFiles or Astro), but from a PC in the same location (so not like 3G remote). So far I've explored these options: USB Connect phone, mount from notification menu, and there you go. Bluetooth Pair phone, use "send file" from PC BT app (running in system tray).
Files drop into a 'bluetooth' directory, ready to move/use. Android Web OS Very beta-esque right now, but runs as a service on the phone, then you can access the filesystem (and SMS, eventually other functions). You can copy up to the phone or download (basically via a simple web mechanism). Use across Another service on the phone, a basic FTP server accessible across WiFi.
Works pretty good so far, I created a 'network location' in Windows, then a shortcut on my desktop into my MP3 directory on /sd. So I just open that folder, copy over MP3s. Doesn't matter where the phone is currently sitting or connected. For the services type options, I'm going to check out something like Locale or Tasker, when I can trigger the service to fire up based on a rule (a specific WiFi network trigger would be outstanding).
I got a Samsung Moment about 3 weeks ago and I really don't do much to it, but today I wanted to transfer a file via bluetooth to my phone from my computer and it paired with the phone but it won't transfer it. For some reason, my computer was saying that the phone wouldn't accept those kind of files. So, I tried to do it the old fashion way, which is using the USB cable, but when I connect the phone to my computer, the computer won't recognize it. It charges the phone, but won't show the drive. Btw, I use a Mac computer. I wonder if it's a Mac issue or just my phone or every one's Moments in general?

The Nexus used to show a 3G symbol but now all I get is either a G or E.
I am now in the middle of Manchester when I used to pick up a 3G signal and all I can pick up is Edge.

Anyone else lost 3G? My phone is fine cause I haven't flashed a ROM in a few days. But I Rooted a friend of mines yesterday and flashed Suave Smush. Everything was fine until he called me this morning and said he had lost 3G. A little later it would not send or receive a text message. Then it kept saying he was out of his home network. We wipped it clean and did the Nand Restore and its fine now. His phone still has Android 1.5.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the forums and changing settings and doing a few battery cycles, I had been getting really good battery life of at least two days on medium usage and 3 days on light with my connection not having any real issues. Then, 2 days ago I installed weatherbug and beautiful widgets. While I enjoy both, it seems like my network connection goes down fairly often now and I need to turn on wifi to check email or do anything else web related. Has anyone else lost their network connection and been able to narrow down the cause? I'm hoping it's not one of these two, but I can't imagine what else it would be.

I'm not sure what did it but the last message I got was there was too many songs on it and that is not true. It's an 8gb card with 700+ songs 15 pics and 4 ringtones so it being full is bs. I don't know what killed it but I suspect Ringdroid or 91Pandhome both have been acting funny for a couple of days force closing alot. Anyone else have this happen to them and is there a way to recover the data on the card as my laptop just does not see it anymore.

They both have Samsung Moments now and think the phone looks promising, but they've already ran into their first quirk. I searched for a good halfhour to see if I could find an answer to their problem but I couldn't find anything. So without further adieu.their problem. They had older phones that used simcards. The sprint store loaded all of their contacts onto the moment and all was peachy. As soon as they went onto the market they had to establish a GMail account to be able to use the market. Once the GMail account was established all of their contacts were wiped. We can't find them anywhere. If anyone has had this problem or would possibly know how to locate the contacts it would be greatly appreciated if you could post the steps to do such a thing. Also if there is anyway to put a simcard onto a computer and transfer it to a phone they still have their cards and I could try to do that.

Question 1:
I got the Open Home .apk, and while I like most features of Open Home, I don't like the icons it uses. I'd rather use the default Android icons. And I can't figure out how... there are no "default Android icon packs" out there. So I got clever. I opened my .apk with WinRar on a PC, found all the new icons I didn't like, and replaced them with the standard icons (which I cleverly extracted from the Android SDK).
However, I guess I wasn't so clever, because the new modified .apk won't install. I guess the creator of the .apk put in a protection of some sort to not let it install if it's been modified? Way over my head at this point...
Question 2:
If I root my phone, will I be able to access the root structure from PC over USB link? I was thinking, maybe the modified Open Home .apk won't install, but if I were able to get into the already installed default Open Home, and then replace the icons, maybe I'd have more success that way.
I'm having trouble accessing the android market tonight I rebooted my phone and still having trouble I updated Pandora and other 2 apps this afternoon. I was wondering if it's just my phone or sprint or the market. So anyone can verify on their phone?

I have no problem accessing my work email from any regular computer, but when I try to access it with my phone a message comes back saying the server is not available (ie. it won't let me in from my mobile phone). I don't know if this is a firewall security thing with Lotus Notes/Server administration or if my phone's browser can't handle it. Is there a certain android browser I should be using or is there an app that I can download that will allow me to access my webmail? When a mobile device tries to access a site, does the site know it's a mobile device? Is there any way around this?The way I access work email through the internet is by going to a specific web site and logging into the site. From there I can see my email. Been trying to figure out how to do this all day now and have a headache, so please forgive my aggravation. All I am trying to do is store a picture for each contact on my contact list. I can only find pictures stored taken directly from my phone camera. I cannot find any pictures stored on my SD card. Now, before I am told I need to hook up my Moment to a computer with the USB cable, every time I do that all that happens is the phone charges and neither the computer nor the phone recognize each other. I tried saving pictures and e-mailing them to myself, where I then tried saving them to the phone and the only way I could do that was through the SD card. I do not even know how to physically remove or add the SD card as there does not seem to be any openings on the phone itself for it. My laptop runs Windows XP. My question is: How do I access the saved pictures on my SD card AND how do I get my computer to recognize my phone if I need to use it to do this?

What is the default when an application wants to wirelessly connect? Is it WLan? And if WLan is switched off or there is no access points around is it 3G or GPRS? Is a device always ip connected? Or when its disabled from WLan or 3G does it's lose its IP address?
Is an application, for example the browser only ever connected to one IP address? Or can it be connected to multiple addresses for each radio such as GPRS or WiFi (WLan)? Can an application decide which connection to open a socket to? For example can I create an application and decide whether to connect the socket to the WLan or GPRS? Or does the OS decide? Finally how do native applications handle connectivity? In the same manner?
What is the best way to tell if you lost your root access? I updated my from darch 2.7 to 2.8, and just wanna make sure all is still good. I did it from the Darch updater via my phone. The adjust brightness program that that requires root access works but wireless tether doesn't seem to work. Does my have to be a certain level for the tether to work? It was at 14 percent or some thing like that.

I recieved the newest update tonight and wanted to download it, so i read up on it. I did what i found was the proper procedure (using my windows XP computer). I downloaded pete's software to my computer, un rooted it, planned to re root it and do the forever root on my phone and then update. Problem is after the un root, my phone wont root at all now. I did it via the newest software Pete has out, and then tried his older version. His newer version gives me an error after the third reboot of my phone. the older version says it roots my phone but superuser (and all other apps of course) cant gain root access.

Its an HTC Magic and syncs to my google calendar. I've reset my messenger password so im guessing altho they get into my ebuddy app automatically, the messenger password on the phone will be out of sync and wrong? I've chosen "log out of everywhere" from Windows Live. I've rest my Evernote password. I dont have any apps that can help me find phone or send an erase message to the phone.
So all thats left I guess is my Google calendar. I suppose its not a train smash having my Calendar data on the phone, but I'd like to erase it. If I go to Google Calendar and delete all the appointments will that delete the appointments if my lost phone syncs, and i think ive set it to sync every time the calendar app is run? Also, with contacts, i seem to remember those not syncing very often, only when i went into settings and contacts on the htc, so im not sure of how to get rid of all the contacts on my phone even if I delete them all from my Google Account.
I have lost a few pdfs which I have been reading for weeks (!) on my Nexus 7 (Android 4.3). Via the reading history of my pdf reader (Moon+ reader) I can see that at least one file is still present in the cache under the following folder address: /data/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/cache/filecache2/c042587322c4a438463efbd2cc533cbf/mypdf1.pdf
How can I access this folder? When accessing the device via the Android File Transfer sofware for Mac, I don't see this folder. I have access to Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files, but this folder contains no files but only another folder (called "pinned_doc_files_not_for_edit") which is also empty.
The lost pdf is still there, I can open it in the reader via the reading history, but I would like to access the folder to see whether other lost files (which are not in the reading history) are also still present. To be clear, the file which I can open is also not detected when searching the device for pdfs.
Anyone have GPS problems when using the new BH_man behold II 1.6 Rom? Its almost impossible to get a connection with Google navigation.
