General :: How To Access Hidden Folder On Android (4.3) / Recover Lost Files On Nexus 7

Oct 7, 2013

I have lost a few pdfs which I have been reading for weeks (!) on my Nexus 7 (Android 4.3). Via the reading history of my pdf reader (Moon+ reader) I can see that at least one file is still present in the cache under the following folder address: /data/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/cache/filecache2/c042587322c4a438463efbd2cc533cbf/mypdf1.pdf

How can I access this folder? When accessing the device via the Android File Transfer sofware for Mac, I don't see this folder. I have access to Android/data/com.google.android.apps.docs/files, but this folder contains no files but only another folder (called "pinned_doc_files_not_for_edit") which is also empty.

The lost pdf is still there, I can open it in the reader via the reading history, but I would like to access the folder to see whether other lost files (which are not in the reading history) are also still present. To be clear, the file which I can open is also not detected when searching the device for pdfs.

General :: Recover Lost Files From Internal SDCard Of Android Phones

Mar 12, 2014

Today android phones are coming with an internal storage which is called the internal sdcard. Because of this the need for external sdcards is vanishing day by day. But when your phone is factory reset you lost all the data stored in it while in case of external sdcard you have an option to save your data. If you accidently lost all the data stored in your phone then don't worry I have a solution to get it back. This trick will work on phones having mass storage mode support, if you are running android 4.1 jellybean and above then root your phone to get mass storage( the tutorial is different for different phones),

If you have accidently lost all your files, photos and videos from your phone then after this do not copy new files to the phone. This also include clicking photos and capturing videos. If you copy new files to the phone then you are actually reducing your chances to get back your deleted photos and videos and other files. In short just don't download anything to your phone, do not use the internet on your phone till the time when you get back your lost files back.

This trick will only work on android phones having mass storage mode and MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) options. If your device is rooted then you can enable mass storage mode on your android phone. After enabling mass storage mode you can get back deleted photos, videos and all files from the internal storage of any android phone.

Requirements
1. Recuva for Windows 7, Windows 8
2. A USB data cable.

Now Follow The Steps Below
-Download and install recuva. While installation do not uncheck any option.
-Now connect your android phone in mass storage mode. Connect it to pc a notification will appear in the phone, tap it to enable mass storage.
-Now open My computer and you will see Removable disk.
-Open recuva and click Next, on the next step All Files will auto selected. Again click Next. Then choose In a specified location and click Browse.Choose the removable disk or MTP disk here and click Next.
-In next step put a check mark in Enable Deep Scan and click Start.
-After scan is finished you will see the list of all deleted files. Green circles is means that file can be recovered while red circle means unrecoverable file.
-Now check the box next to Filename to select all files. Click Recover on the bottom right and choose Desktop .Your deleted files will be recovered.

General :: Samsung Galaxy S4 - Copy Files From Hidden Data Folder

Apr 12, 2014

There is an app called PPDigital, it stores DRM free PDF files in a folder
Android/data/com.lht.privateerpress/files/

On my Asus Transformer TF101
I don't see that folder using "ES File Explorer" or "file manager" or when plugging into my PC via USB. I tried rooting my tablet and still haven't had any luck.

On my Samsung Galaxy S4
I see the folder but only 2 of the dozen PDFs that are in it, sadly they are the 2 I care the least about, both via "my files" and a USB connection to my PC.

Motorola Droid X :: Lost All Pictures - SPMO Files Still There / Recover Them?

Sep 1, 2010

I had my Droid X plugged into my computer and the next day when I was using it, noticed that all of my pictures were gone. My DCIM folder is empty, with all 100 pics missing.

I do have a folder in the DCIM folder called SPMO files and it has many .spmo files that are roughly 500k each in size.

Does anyone know what happened to all of my pictures and is there any way to recover them. I've tried a restart and that did not work. Has anyone else had this happen to them.

General :: How To Recover Locked Out Devices With Lost Username And Password

Oct 21, 2012

Recently i received a unbranded 7" tablet with ICS firmware which was locked permanently because of too many wrong attempts to unlock device. I used adb to break the lock and successfully booted it again for regular use.

First you require the following things:
1. usb debugging active on your device(if debugging is not on then you cannot use this method)
2. adb shell on your computer (follow this thread for adb [URL] .....)
3. usb cable to connect your device to your pc or laptop.
4. Usb debugging drivers if not installed from here [URL] .....

How to unlock:
1. connect your device to pc and install drivers.
2. open the folder where you installed the adb for dummies and search for adb.exe
3. right click holding shift on the free space in folder containing adb.exe and select open command window here.
4. typre following commands separately by pressing enter after each line:

adb shell
cd /data
rm -r data
reboot

Your device will reboot and you will not have any password to enter and a free unlocked device again.

NOTE- this will not work on all devices but it will work on unbranded , chinese and local tablets . i confirmed this method on CHAMPION WTAB 7.2 AND KROSS tablet ics. Be careful not to delete the /data folder, you have to delete data folder under data folder(/data/data). so just enter the commands as they appear and it will be fine.

General :: Recover Deleted Files In Android Tablet?

Oct 28, 2011

I need to recover deleted files from my Android Tablet internal storage folder ( /mnt/sdcard ). This is mounted like a fuse filesystem. I've run Hexamob Recovery PRO from Android Market in my smartphone and it recovered very good some deleted files from my vfat storage folders (both internal and external sd card).

But the smartphone version is not running correctly in my Motorola Xoom because it don't detect internal storage (fuse). I asked to developers about a tablet version and they said me they are working in a tablet version but fuse file system is very hard to manage. Any other app to recover my deleted files from a fuse file system?

General :: Internal Memory Consumption - Hidden Files

Feb 21, 2012

I have only 150mb of internal memory on my phone. These are some items that consume critical amounts of internal memory space. When I download an app, it seems I am downloading an install package. The installed app itself takes up additional space. I believe the install package persists on the internal memory, invisible to the average retail user, and takes up internal space even after the app is moved to the card.

Ex: an anonymous app
android market listed size- 3.51mb (this must be the download size of the installer)
download and install on internal memory, size listed- 5.73mb
move to SD card, size listed- 2mb
move back to internal memory, size listed- 5.73mb

Further thoughts:

1. The install package seems to remain on the internal memory even though the app moves to the card.

2. Beyond the above example, I went through each and every item listed in my settings - applications - storage use - All.

I found 105 total items on internal memory and SD card all together. By adding up the listed "Total" size of each (yes, I went through each and every one), I arrived at approximately 109mb. The phone lists internal memory use at 135mb. I would expect the internal memory use to be LESS than 109mb because some of the apps are on the card. My assumption is that much of this extra internal storage is taken up by all of the installers sitting invisible on the internal memory.

3. Based on observing the change in the Internal Memory usage when I delete app "Data", I believe the app data is being written to the internal memory even if the app is on the SD card.

Why isn't the install package deleted after the app is successfully installed? Is there an app for that?If I uninstall the app while it sits on internal memory, does it also delete the install package? If I uninstall the app without first moving it back to the internal memory, does it delete the uninstall package? How can I reclaim this internal memory space for actual use??

General :: Samsung Galaxy S3 - Managing Hidden Files Thumbnails?

Jan 5, 2014

So I know the method of hiding a file or folder by placing a period in the beginning of the title then SETTINGS > *Uncheck* SHOW HIDDEN FILES

Okay, to make everything clear...... from the home page I go to my Apps......click FILES, then there are the following items: ALL FILES, IMAGES, VIDEOS, MUSIC, DOCUMENTS.

When I click IMAGES....I get to my CAMERA, a generic PHOTO album, and some downloads from FACEBOOK. There are also two hidden files called .THUMBNAIL and .THUMBNAILS2 (I may have named one of them I'm not sure).

What are these files for? They contain literally thousands of previous and current pictures I had stored in my phone including deleted pics. They are lower resolution than normal too. I want to delete the ".thumbnail" folders but I don't know what will happen. They're annoying me and include a lot of deleted stuff.

General :: How To Recover Files Off Of Internal Storage

May 13, 2014

HTC One Does not have external sd card, only the "Internal Storage"

I was trying to multitask and ended up wiping Internal Storage through TWRP. Is there any app / process I can use to recover files? Undelete[app] errors out saying it's not a fat filesystem Disk Digger[app] only searches for specific file extensions, which would cover things like my TitaniumBackup & TWRP Backup files

When I plug it into a computer, it shows up as a Portable Device, and no problem that I've downloaded (Recurva / PCI / EUSUA) is able to search on portable devices, only physical/logical drives.

Is there anything I can do to attempt to get data back from the sd card?

LG Eve : Way To Recover Lost SMS / Get Log Of Past Notifications

Oct 29, 2010

I was using some buggy firmware for my android (LG GW620, running OpenEtna 6.1RC1 which is running Android 2.2)

I was running a lot of apps and presumable I was low on memory (not sure if this info was useful) when an SMS came in from an important person.

I saw the sms notification from Handcent SMS in the notification bar but when I clicked on it, Handcent opens to an empty screen with no message but just the number on top. Thinking that I might have clicked wrongly somehow, I pressed back which brought me to the screen with the list of SMSes. However, that latest SMS wasn't there at all! I tried the default Messaging app and it wasn't there too.

And it was then that I realized I should have at least taken down the number it was sent from. Now I have no idea what number it came from or what that message was about other than the first 3 words which appeared in the notifications bar when the message first came.

I've been googling for a solution to see if its possible to recover SMS but there seems to be no solution short of sending it for forensic services. Does anyone know how I can retrieve any info at all?

Alternatively, does Android keep a log file of all notifications that appears on the bar? If so, does anyone know where it is stored and if it can be recovered? I just need the phone number...

I need to copy this folder (including '.nomedia') from the APK's assets to the SD card (so other apps can make use of these media files, etc.). When I package the APK in Eclipse, it doesn't package the '.nomedia' file. Presumably it's detecting it as a hidden file. Any ideas how to fix this? Is there a secret aapt flag I can use? I'd like to avoid copying the folder and then manually creating a '.nomedia' folder, if possible.
