When my data connection (3G) is lost due to lack of signal sometimes it never reconnects again, despite being in an area of high signal strength. I have 'always on' mobile internet toggled. To solve this I have to turn the phone off and on again, which is annoying.

If my screen locks while I have a wifi connection, then the connection is lost when I unlock the phone.First, is this perhaps deliberate, to save power? Also, either way, when I unlock the screen and go into wifi settings, I see that the phone is trying to make a wifi connection, but it never succeeds, even though it's my home network and I'm in the same room as the router. It just states 'Obtaining address.

Sometimes when I'm accessing a news app, an exclamation point appears and I lose all connectivity. I usually have to restart the phone to regain connectivity. Is there any other way to regain web access other than restarting the phone?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAll the sudden today i just lost my 3g data connection. I actually saw the airplane symbol for a min or two as well. I toon it to sprint and they couldnt get the data connection back thy tried some kind of "activation" which didnt work then they wanted to have the phone for a day which j cjldnt do today. Now i disabled the 3g on the phone and turned it back off and on again and it said it was runnjng the activation again but this time t ran through and i turned 3g back on and the arrows show up but they never flash but i am on the pjone now posting this.

Switched on airplane mode for flights, and switched off data roaming to reduce overseas costs. But when switched back on to use internet couldn't get any network connection. Now back in the UK still same issue - no internet, and cannot send MMS picture messages - even when in strong 3G signal Tried all the options I can find but no joy at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I recently rooted my phone and switched to the Kangerade 1.1 rom running a chevy kernel. I pretty much have no issues EXCEPT for the fact that maps wont function unless I am on wifi. Once I am using 3g I just get data connection lost, and then it loops....I am using version 4.3 of maps, my wife's phone is also rooted with kangerade using a p3 kernel but with maps 4.2 and she gets the same results.

The headset is quite new, but has no makers ref on it so can't find out what it's setting are, but when its on and the Tattoo is scanning, it is never found... I have also tried making the Tatto discoverable during this process as assume its a two way process....

We were in the orange shop briefly - so i could sneakily test the water as to which phones she likes - She likes the look of the Tattoo and loves the idea of custom cases (her idea of a good phone is very superficial) but hasn't used a smartphone for any longer than 10 minutes. She doesn't like WinMo because it is very straight-laced and business orientated. I played with a hero in the orange shop and found it a pleasure to use but i have been using smartphones for a few years now. I have a couple of questions :
Will the Tattoo be usable/of any use without a data plan? What will work? what doesn't?
How easy is Android to use for a complete beginner to smartphones? She currently has a Samsung D600 (which she loves). Is she going to struggle to use basic functions?
I have brand new HTC Tatoo and i am trying to connect it to my HP 6830, running Win7 Ultimate. Phone says, that no HTC Sync is found on laptop, but i installed latest version and restarted PC twice.

I want to do none of these things - usually I just want to charge the phone! View 18 Replies View RelatedAfter reading the forums and changing settings and doing a few battery cycles, I had been getting really good battery life of at least two days on medium usage and 3 days on light with my connection not having any real issues. Then, 2 days ago I installed weatherbug and beautiful widgets. While I enjoy both, it seems like my network connection goes down fairly often now and I need to turn on wifi to check email or do anything else web related. Has anyone else lost their network connection and been able to narrow down the cause? I'm hoping it's not one of these two, but I can't imagine what else it would be.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used flash tool to try to install recovery on my Lenovo A750. I used DA_PL.bin instead of MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin as download agent.
Now when the phone is turned off, it is not recognized (no MT65xx), and I cannot use the flash tool again. Beside this the phone works fine including 'regular' USB connection. What is "download agent" and what did I do wrong?
I previously had my gchat setup to be online all the time.. for some reason, I get logged off when my phone sleeps, or within a short preiod of time after my phone sleeps. I also do not get email notifications when the screen is off. I have to unlock the screen to get my updates now. Any idea how to change this back?I was also wondering about how to change the frequency of checking email and other updates, etc. to save some battery life
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question about Google Talk. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting after a while after the screen has been turned off? I have "always-on mobile data" active but after a minute or so after turning the screen of Google Talk disconnects and I don't receive any messages until I manually turn on the screen and wait for it to reconnect and retrieve the new messages.Just to note it doesn't actually show the splash screen saying signing into Google Talk it just says "Lost connection to server. Messages will be sent when online" bellow the most recent message.

This happened anytime the phone was idle for more than a couple minutes. I changed the seetings in Talk to automatically sign in, and uncheck the option to set status to away when the sceen is turned off. This did not help, so I made sure my data-always-on setting was on, and it is. Sometimes it would not even tell me it was offline until I tried to send a message, then it would give me that error. Other times, all my friends will be greyed out for a couple seconds until it reconnects to the server.
This is an Evo I got replaced by RadioShack on Friday, 7/16, since I was having sceen issues with my first one. I never had any issues with my orginal phone. Yesterday, I was noticing a lot of my Gmail messages were coming in in groups, and normally when I was using the phone. Today, I sent an email to both my gmail account and myemail@mydomain.net email which is managed by Google, and neither of those emails were recieved until I turned my sceen on and started doing things on it. I have also noticed that if I turn my sceen off, background downloads pretty much come to a halt. Like I said, I have my data to always be on, so this is not the issue. I am using mainly 3G for data. I have done about 5 hard resets, and tried my Talk client before installing any apps or setting up my second Gmail account, and this didnt help the issue either..........
Why is my phone constantly giving this vocal notification out? It is constantly searching for a signal? It happens about once an hour, and I'm guessing it's the source of my battery drain issues the last day or 2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone (htc desire) loses connection with HTC Sync, version: 2.0.33 on my laptop when I start eclipse galileo. I have windows 7 32 bit. The followings are what I have done to solve this problem but with no luck:
- Unplug and replug the USB cable.
- Installed the old version of HTC sync
- Uninstalled the old version and installed the newest version of HTC sync.
I've to log off or restart my laptop to be able to connect the phone with htc sync again but when I start eclipse the connection is lost again.
I've just noticed that I no longer get a notification of "Charge Only" in the top bar when I plug my HTC in to my PC via the USB cable!
I've gone into the settings for "Connect to PC" and it doesn't matter what I select, I still cant connect to use "HTC Sync" or "Disk drive" and yet the orange light comes on and the battery indicator says it IS charging!
I used to have it set to charge only and if I wanted to sync or copy to the SD card, I'd just drag down the top bar that lists widget locker and my mobile internet usage and I could select it and choose what I wanted to do - only now there is nothing there to select!
I've today replaced the trial power widget with the "Widgetsoid switcher" - could that have something to do with it? - I've tried adding USB connection and USB tethering and they dont seem to work either!
my newly bought Tattoo became unbootable a few days ago.It worked perfectly fine two days ago, then it started to randomly reboot itself, but after that, it became completely unbootable, as in, it was stuck at the "TATTOO" screen. The phone internals are completely untouched, no custom images, not rooted, no nothing, it's factory fresh.The battery is full too, and I didn't install anything that could possibly have corrupted the bootloader (or whatever is failing to load).I already tried to wipe the user data _TWICE_ (using HOME + BACK + POWER) with no success. I'm also perfectly able to get into HBOOT (using VOLDOWN + MENU + POWER), and connect via usb (using "FASTBOOT USB" from HBOOT). However, I can't completely wipe the cache with fastboot.exe from the android-sdk, since it doesn't allow it: "erasing 'cache'... FAILED (remote: not allow)".

View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to Eris and have set up Wifi to connect to home router (Verizon FIOS Actiontec). Successfully connected (accepted WEP) but get very weak signal and then lose connection. I've turned off "Mobile Network" but still have this problem. I am one room away from router and receive full signal on iMac and printer but only a dot under the Wifi symbol on the Eris. Exchanged a Motorola Droid (which received and held full signal -- as did my prior iPhone)) for Eris. VZW tech support clueless and immediately sent me to HTC support. While they tried (had some not very good explanations -- battery not pushing enough power) still nothing working. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated -- this is the only downside right now.
View 3 Replies View Relatedfor whatever reason today we lost our internet connection at work. Now I work for an airline doing charters and today we added a second flight to each shift. So I tethered my phone for the 3g and just plugged it in at the end of the day to charge it. Needless to say it handeled 300 passengers/customers easy. Changes, bag fees, checking in and selling for a solid 8hrs today! I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone ever. Maybe a bigger SD, but phone, probably not.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was running the JI6 2.2 with cognition beta5.5 and was attempting to update however I needed to swap kernels since the current kernel didn't verify signatures. I was using vmware on a mac and i started it but then continued to use the mac side however the computer disconnected the phone from the windows side and now it is stuck showing an image of a phone next to a computer with a triangle with a ! in it between the two. Pressing all hardware buttons does nothing but black the screen and go back to the same screen. I've taken out the battery, sim, unplugged the cord, everything. Can't get back into download mode to redo the kernal swap. It's definitely connected to a valid, and working, usb port and i am now on windows itself instead of vmware. What do I do?
