View 1 RepliesWhen I buy the Evo at Best Buy (pre-ordered), will they activate it in-store, or must I call Sprint and wait while they do something? I am already a Sprint customer and merely upgrading my line.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was hearing things the first time this happened, but before I answered an incoming call on my Evo I heard a voice on the other end while my phone was ringing. Well today I heard it again so I decided to check it out, so I called myself on my girlfriends phone and lo and behold I could hear myself on my Evo while it was ringing before I even touched the slide to unlock.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to root my Eris before I activate with Verizon again. (I had to go to a back-up phone last month). I can't get the SDK or EMA program to work. following all the directions. It will not "see" my phone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust as the title says, I am wondering if the GPS on the Droid will be able to connect and work without the phone being activated on Verizon. I would have an offline GPS app that has all the maps downloaded so I wouldn't need a 3G connection. Would the phone still be able to pick up the satellites and my position even if m not on Verizon?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I switched to the 2.2 leak and decided to do the .sbf method to get 2.1 back because I thought 2.2 was a bit buggy for my tastes. Unfortunately, when I had gotten 2.1 back on my phone, I could not activate. It simply said it cannot do it. I tried switching back (again) to 2.2, same problem. Tried manual user activation via ##7762726, still nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to work with phones and am aware that most Android phones have two boxes you can check/uncheck the first time you turn them on. One says something about using your location for Google apps. The other says something like "allow Google to collect anonymous location data". When I got a new phone today, the clerk turned it on when I wasn't paying attention as part of the setup process and checked both boxes without checking with me first. Where can I disable these features now that the phone has already gone through its initial setup process?
Edit: Found the answer to one of these shortly after posting due to a better-worded search. Apparently turning off "Use wireless networks" and "Use GPS satellites" under "Location and security" turns off anonymous collection of data. (I had seen these while searching the phone earlier, but the caption does not make it clear that checking them enables Google to collect anonymous location data even when you aren't running any apps. It's only when you uncheck them and try to check them again that it pops up with this information.)
Anyone else having random reboots with the phone? i have had mine for 2 days and has done it twice today, never before though.
View 39 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was using Google GPS navigation for turn-by-turn directions when I needed to place a phone call. I kept the navigation operating when I placed the call. After a couple minutes the phone reboot itself while I was actively in the call.Today I wanted to see if I could duplicate the behavior. I launched navigation, selected a destination, and started to drive. I placed a call while navigation was still running. After a few minutes, the phone reboots in the middle of the call.Anyone else experience this or is willing to try this out and see if you can duplicate it? Software version 2.2 (not rooted), hardware version 0003.I'm near the end of my 30 eval, wanting to know if I should ask for a new EVO if that's the fix.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo it's 2nd time for me that when I use headphones other then original HTC Desire headphones my phone reboots. I just plug headphones in, start to play music and Desire reboots. It has happened for me two times using different headphones. What could course this problem?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use the Inc's camera, my phone reboots. Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know how I can fix it (besides not using the camera)?
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy incredible reboots randomly, first noticed one while on a phone call with my dad. It was over bluetooth in car with navigation & gps on. It rebooted mid conversation. I was on 95 in baltimore with 4 bars and 3g. Everything since has been while listening to slacker. Either while phone is sitting there or while surffing the web. Once was while listening in the car in philadelphia on 95 no navigation (always 2-3 bars and 3g) and it didn't start crashing until about two weeks ago. Every crash has been while plugged into a charger also. I haven't noticed any crashes off charger.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo this just started happening. It has happened a few times now. I go to open Sprint Navigation the phone will reboot itself. Once it is rebooted it will load up fine. Once the phone has been on for a while same thing will happen again. Haven't noticed it in any other programs but very annoying.Anyone else have the same problem and know a way to fix it?
View 43 Replies View RelatedRight in the middle of the call, Thank God I had already given the address or the person could have died. This phone is now starting this same thing like my Evo number 1 was doing and about at the same two weeks in its in service time frame. If this keeps up I'm bailing out as much as I love the phone and all.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI was going to post this in the ApeX ROM thread, but I felt it was way too long and no one would read it. I would just like to add that I don't think this is a problem with the ROM, it's my phone. If you haven't tried ApeX yet, you should because it's awesome.
I'm getting a weird "soft reboot." That's the only way I can explain it. My phone freezes, and then reboots. The weird thing is that in the about phone it will have a continuous up-time. For example it would say up-time: 4h 36m when it froze and rebooted 5 minutes ago.
The other weird thing is that at 1.1Ghz, I can do a 20 minute stress test with zero problems. But a couple minutes later while unlocking my phone or texting it reboots.
It isn't just this ROM or just being overclocked either. I've always had this problem with 2.2. I turned off overclocking, and I've been going strong for about 10 minutes but I doubt it will last.
Did the stock voltages change between 2.1 and 2.2? Is it possible that my phone just sucks and can't handle the new voltages?
I installed the vibrant4 ROM, and everything ran great.
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769&page=1
I decided to upgrade to the vibrant 9 rom... the phone works except if i plug in the USB... it reboots and the battery charger attempts to charge then 1sec later it reboots again, and again and again.
I want to connect this to USB so I can use Odin and restore the original ROM. Has anyone experienced this? Any advice?
I am on call this weekend - was talking to a patient when all of a sudden the call cuts off. (no land line, so i have to use my eris on call) -- I push the trackball to light up the screen and nothing happens. Then a few seconds later the bootup screen starts (where it says 'HTC - quietly brilliant). The phone was fully charged...anybody ever have this happen to them? I rely on this phone to reach patients and other doctors...am not happy about this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since the Droid Eris 2.1 OTA update 7/18/10, my phone reboots unexpectedly once or twice per day.
I had no problems like this with 1.5, the update to 2.1, it started after the latest OTA update. The OTA installed without any problems.
Anybody with a similar problem or a solution?
So I have a Sprint HTC HERO. Everytime my gps starts my phone reboots. I have tried everything to fix except complete re-install of OS (android 2.1).
Any Ideas before I spike this thing like an aborted fetus and paint the wall with my brain matter? Goodbye cruel world...
I'm testing an android application with a long running service. I'm using Eclipse and have the usb cord hooked up with the phone sitting next to me. Since it's a long ongoing service, I do some other work while it runs and check the logcat logs every once in a while to make sure everything is going as expected.
A few minutes ago I noticed the phone rebooting. I think it's done this before as it would explain some weird application behavior. I quickly switched over to Eclipse to see what happened and found that the logcat log was (it seems) cleared during the reboot. So there's no log of whether my app crashed (and took down the phone?!) or if there was some other problem that took down the phone and my app.
Is there anyway I can find out what happened? This is a development phone, so I don't know if it reboots/crashes often on its own, or only while my app is running. It's a Motorola Droid running Firmware version 2.1-update1.
I would love to see what is causing my very occasional reboots..
When my pc crashes it gives a report of what caused the errors, id love to see that same thing with my DI..
It would be cool to see that its a downloaded app causing the problem and i would just get rid of the offender
I have a customers LG eve here, and I really, really don't want to wipe it or send it for repair, but the basic problem is that it turns on, you keep getting the error "The application LG IME (process com.android.inputmethod.xim) has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again. " This repeats a couple times then the phone freezes and reboots.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI flashed Paranoid ROM on my HTC One V and now the phone reboots after the HTC logo screen,it can't move past it.
I have tried flashing boot.img, formatting my phone, deleting cache partition, doing factory reset,re-flashing the ROM but nothing seems to work.
This is weird and took me a while to pinpoint exactly when this happens. When I am done using my phone I usually hit the home button to get to my home screen, regardless of what app or what screen I'm on. Then I press the power button at the top top turn off the screen. Almost everyday with what I thought was no clear pattern, my phone would reboot just after setting it down when I was done using it. I found that when pressing power too quickly after pressing home when the app hasn't fully gone away yet causes the phone to reboot. I have been able to consistently do this today from the gallery, not just at a specific picture but when viewing the list of my phone pictures. Over half a dozen times just now, every time, home then power and it reboots. I uninstalled OpenHome thinking it was related to the custom home app, but even with the default home it is still happening.Gallery is not the main problem, it has happened from other apps, but that one I have been able to most consistenly reproduce it because it takes longer for that to close before getting to the home screen (I only have 52 pictures, so I can't imagine that is the reason). I am about to go to a verizon store and see if I can reproduce it on the phones on display.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect the USB lead to my PC, all is fine with the world, the "three pronged" USB symbol appears in the top left of the screen and I can "mount" it. Now, if I have just turned the phone on, I can mount/unmount with no problems, as I did last night, couldn't recreate the "fault" I am about to describe. Went to bed, got up, plugged in to laptop, three pronged fork appears in the top left, select mount, SE logo fills screen, phone has a soft reboot and asks for the PIN for the SIM card.
Now, rather than the three pronged fork, I get an ! in a triangle icon, but can still mount/unmount. So the question is, why does the phone sometimes reboot when I mount the USB and then why does it appear as an ! after this. It never appears to reboot when it is an !, only a three pronged fork., and to restore the USB fork icon, I have to switch off and on again.
So just starting like about a week ago, my phone will reboot if i go into google maps.I press google maps, press menu, then the screen goes to the white background with green htc, and reboots. This happens all the time without fail. This sucks cuz I use the google maps a lot as a traffic report and gps. This is not good. The hero has too many problems.I feel like nothing works properly on this phone.. anyone else have this problem? fix?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI love the features of 2.1, but loads of times when I press the Home Key and select one of the running apps, my phone goes to the white HTC screen and reboots.
