Does anyone have an idea of the max temp the galaxy s will operate effectively at? Mines hitting 87 whilst tethered & charging, the top of the screen becomes sluggish and unresponsive at this stage.

I was looking at increasing the photo quality but I only have 3 options: 640x480(0.3M), 1440x1080(1.6M) and 1920x1080(2.0M). I thought the phone was able to be set to 4128x3096(13M)?
Is there an option I need to turn on to display all the available qualities?
So I'm on my #3 Captivate now.. and I need to get some other people's experience on these items. First off, my #1 Captivate would get hot while on voice call (lets say 15min), the #2 phone would NOT get hot even after a 30min call. The #2 phone also had the longest lasting battery of the 3 as well. But the phone could not see ANY satellites so back it went. #3 phone - I'm not having the best experience with - I downloaded the BatStat widget to monitor temp and battery percentage.. So I dialed my wife's phone with the battery at 35%, and temp at 36 degrees Am I in the same boat as others with these two issues combined? I will most likely return the phone again tomorrow.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have numerous activites in my Android app., and most should contain the same, relatively complex set of UI widgets on the screen's top area (lets say that its a kind of toolbar that you can find on most screens).
Right now, every screen's layout contains the markup for this toolbar, along with its logic inside every Activity's source, so it's damn redundant. Could you recommend a more efficient / less redunant way to do this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been given the tasks of speccing a mobile application, which will need to run on approx. 1000 devices. These devices already exist, and consist of iPhones, BlackBerrys, Androids, Windows Mobile and Netbooks. The application will have simple reporting capability, and a collection of forms. Anyway, the obvious solution would be to develop some browser based solution, although given the occasionally connected nature of the devices, there's a potential for data to get lost / not saved.
So instead of creating a complex application for each platform, I was thinking we could build what is effectively a form generator, with basic offline storage capability (text files), designed to run on each device, and have the device generate a form, based on for example an XML file that it could request from a server somewhere, resulting in minimal specialist development costs, and the ability to run most of the logic from the server end, with the devices being dumb clients that render forms and upload the data when there is an available connection. Anyway, my question summarised is, how have you made the decision on supporting multiple devices for your application. Is this always an unavoidable problem, and you just have to make the call to support 1 or 2, or pay for developers to write code for each platform, or alternatively supply pre-installed devices to the company?
On iPhones the notification is center of the screen in a big graphic. On my LG2 all I get is some tiny icon in the notification bar. Also on teh iPhone the lock screen wakes up to show the voicemail prompt/graphic. On the LG2 teh screen is still dark. So unless I turn on my lock screen, I never know I have a v-mail.

I have a rooted samsung captivate with sideloading enabled. After experimenting with different wifi tethering apps from the unofficial market, I began experiencing difficulties with my wifi connection. Even after uninstalling every app that I thought was changing the wifi state, the problem still persists. I can turn on the wifi and it will act normally for about 30 seconds before turning off without user intervention. In dmesg, the error is as follows: 'mmc1: Got command interrupt 0x00060001 even though no command operation was in progress.' Is this caused by an app or is this a more complicated problem?

I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted.How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number?In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown.When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. It seemed like the first few days my unit stayed pretty cool but now it is getting a little warm after only a few minutes use. It can get as cool as 28C when not in use, but has gotten over 40C with lite surfing/use. Normal?
I have looked at all my apps and nothing seems to be running out of the ordinary. The only thing I am not sure of is in the app "spare parts" under network usage I have a top bar that says "0" and it is full. When I try to click on it for more info it force closes. Does everyone have this (is it normal) or is it something I need to check into further? Anyone know?
I have a fully stock, most recent OTA updated EVO. Lately I can't tell what the temperature is because my weather widget has become bogged down with clouds or sunshine, rain, thunder, etc. icons over the temperature. I can't take a snapshot to post.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't appear to have call waiting in operation. But, more than that - I seem to have an issue where, if I'm doing something on the internet (e.g. checking email), the call doesn't come through. Take, for example, a mild incident today:
Meeting my beloved mother, for once in her life she's remembered not only to have her phone, but to have it on (will miracles never cease!). I call to find out where she is. She's 5 mins away.
So - while waiting for her, I go into my gmail to respond to a mail. Mother arrives - 'I tried calling to say go queue for a coffee, so we didn't have to wait, but it went straight to voicemail'. I hadn't moved, reception was still good.
I just got a new incredible (upgrade from eris) and I just rooted it using unrevoked. I tried to use adb like I am used to doing with my eris but it seems I do not have root permission (although I do have super user app and its working from what I can tell).?

By mistake i unfreezed some of my apps, and i cant find what those apps are, so i wana check the Titanium log, but it seems there is not, Strange for an application that has 100 options settings we dont care but not a simple option for logging?

Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

After playing some music via wifi using Radio Time for an hour, the temperature was 109 degrees Fahrenheit and the phone was warm. Now I know the temp would go up, but is is this abnormally high? Is this normal? Do I have anything to be worried about cause I love this app and don't want to stop using it.

Ok, so i got sick of using beautiful widgets weather home widget, but i didn't find another weather widget i liked. So i was playing around with the setting and clicked the show temperature in notification bar. I figured it would go away once i deleted the widget off of the home screen, but nope it stayed, now i've got the temperature over in the left hand corner. Now sure if anyone else has done this but i thought it was pretty cool. Here's a pic so you can see it, it has been updating throughout the day.
