View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use Wi-Fi Adhoc Mode in my application. But I could not find any API or method to set the same. I read a thread in Android Forum and could not come any concrete solution on how to use enable Adhoc mode in Android.I used to use WPA_Supplicant conf file in Linux to enable Adhoc mode.
I would like know if I can enable Wi-Fi Adhoc mode in Android from my application and how to do the same.
I have code that runs in the background and holds a connected Socket and it's InputStream. It calls read() infinitely until something is received, then continues to parse.Socket timeout is 0 of course.I am interested in what would happen when the device goes to sleep? Is the CPU off? Will this socket be responsive in this case?

I also tried to root my phone and finished all the steps but when it says "UNREVOKED" in the command prompt i dont get the "superuser permission" app in my app tray,
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my Hero got a mind of its own and is now stuck in car mode. Anytime I hit the home key I get the Navigator screen and anytime I answer a call it automatically has the speaker phone on. From my googling I have seen other phones that have had this problem but nothing on the Hero. I called CS and they said they had no idea how to turn it off and to take it into a store to have them look at it. I took it into the store and how did they fix it...they ordered me a new Hero. So apparently they couldn't fix it either. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and were able to fix it so maybe when someone else runs into it they don't have to go through all the fun I have had too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed flashrec-1.1.3 and recovery-RA-heroc-v1.6.2 and it says i flashed it successfully but when i try to go to recovery mode, its stays on the black htc hero screen forever until i remove the batter.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just rooted my phone and whenever I try to go into recovery mode my phone just turns blank and I have to pull my battery out and turn the phone back on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Hero using the manual rooting guide in this forum. everything seemed to go fine. Since then, I have tried ROM Manager, entering recovery mode using adb, holding down the volume button and pressing the end button, and holding down the home button and pressing the end button. They all have the same reaction, the phone will come up with the htc logo and then the screen goes blank and then the only thing I can do after that is remove the battery. Sometimes the only thing that is different is the htc logo will stay on the screen and freeze at that point, once again requiring me to remove the battery to do anything. I have tried this using three different recovery images 1.2.3, 1.5.2, and 1.6.2...all of them have the same outcome when I try to enter recovery.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am stuck at step 8 in the manual rooting steps. When I type in the recovery boot, I don't enter into recovery mode. Instead, all I see is nothing but the white HTC, standing there unless I take the battery out and boot it back to regular OS. Do I have to hold home button and power button, immediately after I enter -recovery boot? and what button is the power button to make sure?
I know I did the first few steps of the inputing codes correctly, but how do I know I flashed my recovery image 1.6.2 correctly? When I typed into cmd: flash_image recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
I immediately got that # sign below it. Do i have to wait for a minute or so before doing recovery boot? I know I pushed my recovery to my SD correctly, it says the kilobytes on the cmd screen and can find it on SD memory.
And one more thing" I typed in both these codes as written: adb push recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img /sdcard and flash_image recovery recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img throughout the rooting process. Does it matter if I put a "c" after "hero" in both of those codes, because when I do, I get no file and directory error. And the reason I took out the "c" was because my file was named, recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2, originally when I downloaded it, so that is probably why I got the error of no file directory when I added a "c" after hero in those coding inputs.
I have never rooted my phone before. I am running 2.27.651.6. I am trying to follow the instructions here to install Fresh Rom 2.1.2.
When I turn my phone off and try to boot into recovery mode by holding down the Home and Power buttons, I get a picture of a phone with a little red exclamation point beside it that will not go away. I eventually had to take the battery out of the back of it to get it to go away. Put the battery back in and it works fine but I would really like to install that Rom.
I have a Sprint Hero that I have rooted and in trying to do a Nandroid backup have found myself unable to get to recovery mode. I hold Home, hit power and the system hangs on the initial HTC screen until I remove the battery. After that the phone will boot into the regular OS just fine.
Now I am kinda stuck here, without recovery mode I can't even restore my phone back to stock can I? It's not urgent since my phone works normally otherwise.
Sometimes when my phone is on silent and I turn it off and reboot it, it plays all the start up sounds as its loading. Sometimes, it does not. I hate this, because at work (in a spa) I keep my purse in my cabinet, and I don't love for it to play a bunch of sounds when it is supposed to be on silent. This is the only thing that makes any noise when the phone is on silent, and its only sometimes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to get into recovery mode and it just locks on the HTC logo. I try and do a hard reset and it again locks on the HTC logo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI searched for this but couldn't find a solution. Is there anyway to get the home screen and subsequent side screens to go into landscape mode? I've seen some other Android Phones/Tablets doing this and would like to be able to do so. Or does anyone know if this will be an option in the 2.1 update? I heard that the Droid used to do this, and then some update messed it up, but then saw it going into landscape mode on the video they posted today of the Droid running 2.1.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm playing with the Hero and under mobile network settings, mode of operation you have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO only and 1X only. Does anyone know what Hybrid is? It's the default selection. Will selecting EVDO only help with battery life?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen im texting someone, it stays in threading mode, which is fine. When i hit home or whatever to get out of messaging, whenever i get another text, lets say its from another person. I can pull down my notification bar, click the new text, and it just opens up the text i was last in. I think its weird how it wont open the next text message, possibly because the app was running in the background the whole time?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn a recent thread, someone suggested to me that using Airplane Mode can chew up battery. Initially, I thought this seemed pretty silly, cause all it's really doing it turning off the wireless connections (how could that use more power?), but I had no reason to doubt this person.
I figured this evening, I would simply turn off my WiFi and Mobile Radio using the toggles. I noticed that your signal bars do not disappear when you turn off the mobile radio via the toggle. In fact, I can even place a phone call!! Not a very effective toggle in my mind.
Can anyone drop a little science on what's going on here? Is the Mobile radio ONLY for data? If so, is there a missing toggle widget in HTC's collection on this device? And ultimately, what is the airplane mode doing (and how could it not conserve battery over a fully "on" state)?
When typing a text message in landscape mode, is there any way to send the text by hitting the enter button? I know on the Moment I was able to hit the enter button and it sent the text. With the Hero I have to hit the actual keyboard button to get back to the thread and hit send...

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am leaving the country and would like to be able to check my email using wifi, but want to prevent getting roaming charges incase the data/phone connection kicks on. I know that if you turn on airplane mode, it will not allow you to turn on wifi. Is there a way, or an app that will allow you to do this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to portrait to landscape it will stay on portrait then after I mean like 20 mins or so when I go to use it, it will go to landscape and portrait. Then after another while it will stay on portrait and not go to landscape. I've tried everything and tried to find a solution for this but don't seem to find one. I just got the phone on saturday and been playing with for awhile to get the feel of it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedafter installing 2.2 on my hero, everything was working fine, until now. im having problems with my text messages, they wont send under sprints network, if i put it in roaming then they send right away, but roaming has awefully slow (1x) network speeds, but if i put it back to the 3g network speeds of sprint then everytime i try to send a text it just swirls in circles (the little thing next to the message) and wont send. is this sprints network being down? or does this have to do with the 2.2 update?i dont think its sprint because my mom and sister arent having any problems with there phones from the same plan. but i tryed restarting many times, taking out and leaving out the battery, putting it in airplane mode and turning that back off to reset connection, iv tryed everything and cant get it to work, so idk what to do, and i dont understand why if it was a software problem with the 2.2 installation, why would they send in roaming but not on sprints network?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings. If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?
