Samsung Galaxy S :: How To Copy Contact From Outlook
Jun 25, 2010I want to copy all my contact from my Outlook express to Samsung Galaxy S.

I want to copy all my contact from my Outlook express to Samsung Galaxy S.
How do I sync my contact in Outlook TOGETHER with their photos? When I sync, the photos in outlook is not transferred together...
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone use Google Apps Sync? What exactly does it sync, how, and is it free? Is it possible to sync Outlook contact and calendar with the Captivate? I know this has been asked several times but one really seems to know a definite answer.
View 13 Replies View RelatedMy goal is to be able to copy everything in contacts (Phone contacts, Google accounts, Yahoo accounts, all contact photos, e-mails, home addresses, notes etc. everything...) to my SD card or SIM card. My first question is why does the SGS have a 'copy contacts to/from SIM' feature? Is this for when you are taking your SIM from the SGS and putting it into another phone (or vice versa)? You lose so much of your info (everything but name/number/e-mail) when you copy your contacts to your SIM. Wouldn't it be better to copy everything to your SD card and put your SD into your other phone, then copy the data to your other phone's contact list?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to decide between the HTC Desire or the Galaxy S and cant work out if you can sync your contacts with the Galaxy?
I dont mean as a one of import, but as in to being able to regularly do a sync between phone and PC so any new entries to are copied from one to the other? Is that possible, easy and robust to do with a Galaxy?
I just synchronized my new phone with my local Outlook-calendar (no Exchange) by using Samsung Kies. My PC OS is Windows 7.
I don't know, if this is a specific problem to Kies or a general Android-issue: All the past calendar entries (for a couple of years) have been synchronized too. I think, this is not really necessary.
And secondly, my mobile-calendar showed an automaticly generated entry every Monday with the information of the week-number until December 2011.
Seems that I have a problem with some meeting reminders. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
I synchronized my Outlook calendars with my Gmail calendar, then I sync my gmail calendar to my Galaxy S. It all worked fine.
My problem is that if I compare my galaxy S to previous phones i owned, there is a difference that bothers me:
On my previous phones, there was a reminder about 15 minutes before the meeting starts (this is defined through Outlook). The reminder used to popup on the screens of my previous phones, with a ringtone that would play for 15 seconds (more or less), then stop, and then replay every 5 minutes (I believe) until I took actions for this reminder.
On my GS, there is a very brief tone 15 minutes before the meeting, and there is no popup reminder on the main screen, only in the notification area. Haven't tried yet the snooze feature on the GS, but the main thing is that I would like to have a longer alert AND a notification on the screen, notification that should be visible until I decide to dismiss it or snooze it.
I upgraded my phone to the Vibrant mainly so that I could have more of a "work" phone and sync my phone with the MS Office suite on my laptop, but I have no clue how to do this effectively! I have downloaded the ThinkFree Mobile app so that I can open Excel and Word files, and have also downloaded the Dropbox app so that I can sync files to my phone from my computer. However, I have a few questions: 1) It doesn't look like my files are syncing to my phone with Dropbox once I make changes on my computer. 2) I am not able to edit files on my phone in either ThinkFree or Dropbox; shouldn't I be able to? and 3) How the heck do I get Outlook on my phone?.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIm on Galaxo 1.6.3.3 and have been facing this strange problem since a couple of days. Whenever I mount my internal 8 GB memory and try to copy files into it, the internal memory card automatically un-mounts by itself after a couple of seconds interrupting the file transfer.
This happens almost all the time.
I don't have any such issues with the external SD card.
Should reformatting the internal memory help?
Also, If I reformat the internal memory...I dont think the OS should be affected. I suppose the internal memory is just like a movable drive...with no OS files on it.
I just downloaded the Kies software and when i go to sync my contacts with outlook i get this error: Execution privileges prevent you from accessing outlook. Please try again with administrator privileges.
I have no contacts on my phone right now. I deleted them all because i had up to 5 of the same contacts due to At&t sync, face book, and gmail all syncing at the same time. The software looks very good very similar to the BB software i'm just not sure if its outlook, my pc privileges, or something else blocking it. I am admin on my laptop.
There is an app called PPDigital, it stores DRM free PDF files in a folder
Android/data/com.lht.privateerpress/files/
On my Asus Transformer TF101
I don't see that folder using "ES File Explorer" or "file manager" or when plugging into my PC via USB. I tried rooting my tablet and still haven't had any luck.
On my Samsung Galaxy S4
I see the folder but only 2 of the dozen PDFs that are in it, sadly they are the 2 I care the least about, both via "my files" and a USB connection to my PC.
I've just done a factory reset, and now can't remember how I got my contact photos - something to do with syncing with facebook.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a question that I'm not sure if it's even possible since they are two completely different ROMS. I have been running BH-man's Galaxy 1.6 Rom R8 and have been loving it but the two things that have not been working is starting to become a factor and Im really needing Vibrate and the default BH2 camera features. So with that being said, I went ahead and made the switch to the Behold 2 1.6 with No Twiz, and is very fast and nice, minus a few features from the Galaxy rom. Now, I have been wondering if its even possible to have the Dialer & Contact interface from BH Mans Galaxy 1.6 added to this default ROM without it messing anything up. If that is possible, would a pullpush the two files over to the 1.6 no Twiz Rom work? I know that at one point BH_Man has done this in the past but it was based off 1.5 I believe.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI woke up to find I had received a text message on my Galaxy S. So, I looked in the notification bar and it said the message was from my brother. I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. So, I opened the actual message by selecting it from my message inbox and it showed that it was actually from my mate Charlie
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot the new Galaxy (specifically the vibrant) and I love it. One thing I can't figure out though. How do you set a custom (mp3) ringtone to a specific contact? I've done a good bit of searching on this and it seems to work as long as the contact is stored on the phone however the option is NOT there when it's a contact sync'd from Google.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have had the SGS for a few days.
It must be possible to add more than one number to a contact, but I can't find it.
I thought that Samsung would have a better manual on the net, but I can't find that either.
Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Outlook at home as my resource for Contacts and Calendar. It is not attached to a corporate Exchange server. I was wondering if there is a way for me to Sync my contacts and calendar without having a corporate account. Or is there some sort of App that will allow me to do this?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI'm a developer writing an application to sync Outlook 2007 contacts with GMail. These are regular local-PST contacts, not Exchange, and yes, for now I'm exclusively focused on Outlook 2007 since that's what I have available. I may look at older versions (which I own) if this one works out. Anyway, I've tried most (all?) of the sync apps and didn't enjoy the experience. I've done the export/import thing and consider that a temporary fix. So I decided to do something about it myself.
The application I have today runs in the background and periodically pulls contact data from both systems. It can identify matches using a variety of prioritized criteria, and it has a way to systematically decide what data needs to be updated in each contact list. It can write changes to both sides. So it's largely done -- except for some decisions about that sync methodology.
The tricky thing about sync is that the GMail and Outlook contact data fields are totally different.
For example, GMail allows unlimited e-mail contacts which are tagged as Home, Work, and Other. By contrast, Outlook only supports three e-mail addresses, and they're not tagged at all. What should a sync app do if the GMail account has four addresses, but only three Outlook slots to store them?
A different example: GMail also supports unlimited phone numbers, also tagged with about six categories. On the other hand, Outlook can handle sixteen phone numbers, each with a fixed category. Some are a bit odd, like Radio Telephone. What should the sync app do if the GMail account has three Work numbers? Outlook only has Business 1 and Business 2...
Granted, these are what programmers call "edge cases" -- they won't apply to most users. But I'm hoping to find some people with large, complex Outlook address books who will weigh in with opinions about how they'd like problem cases handled.
Here is a comparison of the contact data in each system (exlcuding largely similar fields, and excluding the vast array of Outlook fields that simply have no GMail equivalent)--
E-mail Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 3, not tagged at all
Phone Numbers:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Mobile, Work Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other
Outlook: 16, one each of Primary, Mobile, Car, Home, Home 2, Business, Business 2, Assistant, Callback, Company, Business Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other, Radio Telephone, TTY/TDD
Postal Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: 4, one each of Home, Mailing, Business, Other
IM Addresses:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as GoogleTalk, AIM, Yahoo, Skype, QQ, MSN, ICQ, Jabber
Outlook: 1, untagged (probably should equate to MSN, but...?)
Generic "Other" Field:
GMail: Unlimited, tagged as Home, Work, Other
Outlook: No direct equivalent
Web Address:
GMail: No direct equivalent
Outlook: 1, not tagged
The contact name is a special case. GMail does a poor job importing Outlook contacts since it leaves the name blank on business-only contacts. I guess Google devs only talk to their friends. The app I've written will fix your imported list in GMail by substituting the company name if the name is missing. Lots of little stuff like that is easy to do. It's the "unlimited" lists in GMail and the many places where there isn't a direct correlation that are creating questions in my mind.
When something doesn't quite match up should the app simply not do anything? Or would you prefer a partially successful sync? What about some sort of manual conflict resolution? What other options would you like to see in a sync app? (Limited to sync activity and contacts -- I don't plan to mess with ToDo lists, calendars or anything outside of contacts.)
I'm using Android 2.1 on the Galaxy S.I have multiple numbers defined per contact, e.g. mobile, work, home. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.
