Samsung Galaxy S :: App For Resizing Photos To Lower Resolution (640 X 480)?

Oct 21, 2010

I'm using my SGS to take photos at max resolution (5MB), the average file size is 1.5MB. I want an app that will resize the photo to a lower resolution (640 X 480) so that the file size is small enough to send it easily through email (over GPRS conn). Can someone recommend a app that can do this, preferably free? Right now, I transfer the pics to my PC & use Picasa to export the photos with a lower resolution.

Android :: Using TargetSdkVersion? Should Support Full Resolution And Not Emulate A Lower Resolution Screen

Jun 26, 2010

I have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.

I just specify

code:.........

The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?

Samsung : Some Games / Apps Running At Lower Resolution On My Nexus

Jul 22, 2010

Really sorry for all the screenshots. I own a Nexus One and Dell Streak and one thing that I find disappointing is that some apps don't run at the native resolution on the Nexus which makes things look blurry compared to my Streak. Examples: (all screenshots taken with the Android SDK) Now, I understand that the PenTile display will have an effect on image quality Vs my Streak but why does the N1 seem to be rendering things in a lower resolution compared to my Streak?

General :: Run Apps At Lower Resolution?

Jan 28, 2013

In general, can we change some properties to make a given app run on a lower than native resolution?I think it should be totally possible, since phone come in various aspect ratios and resolutions. So the app detects the screen and resolution, and adopts accordingly.Gensoid does that in-app.Double,original size,strech,etc....

For instance,if we have a game on a 1920x1080 screen, but the GPU struggles to keep the framerate,we lower it to 960x540,the game still looks fine, because we get 1:2 resolution, and far fewer pixels to push.I think there should be an app for that.

HTC Tattoo :: Is Lower Resolution / Screen Really Such Pain For Apps In Market

Mar 21, 2010

I'm considering changing my phone (quite old Motorola) with something from the 21 century..While looking for one (HTC), I found, that only Tattoo can fit in my budget. There are, however, couple of question I'd like to ask:

Does Tattoo support offline GPS navigation (and if so - can you, please, suggest a app for this). Most of what google has to say about this is related to Google maps (obviously), but it looks like this can't be done there. And i really don't see the point having a GPS antenna that requires Wi-fi/data connection in additionIs the lower resolution / screen really such a pain for the apps in the market. Are there any problems with the all-day apps, that one needs?I might have a chance to buy a second hand Iphone 3g 16 for 40-50 euro higher price. Can you advise what's the better choice? I'm not sure about the condition of the iphone, but lets say it has only cosmetic problems, which doesn't bother me.

Android :: App For Resizing Photos For Wallpaper?

Jul 28, 2010

I have a Droid X and when I take a photo in portrait mode, it looks nice and sharp on my screen...I can see the entire photo and it is perfect. Then when I try to set it as my wallpaper, it forces me to crop in on the photo which kills the quality. I just want to use the whole photo so it looks JUST like the screen right after I snap the photo. Are there any apps out there that will let me do that? Seems stupid to have to offload the photo onto a PC, resize it to 960x854, and then upload it back to the phone to that it will fit perfectly.

Android :: Free App For Resizing Photos?

Jun 10, 2010

I like the Incredible's 8MP camera, but hate the huge resulting filesize that makes it inconvenient if not impossible to upload the photos anywhere. Is there a free app that allows me to resize photos to resolutions I want? I tried Picsay, but the free version only allows it to be resized to a a tiny resolution, making it useless. I know Photoshop.com, but I've heard that it runs constantly in the background no matter what. I just want a simple app where I can punch in the x and y dimensions (and maybe a checkbox to choose to keep the ratio) and have the image resized.

HTC Droid Eris :: Automatically Resizing Photos For MMS

Nov 10, 2009

First time trying to send a photo via text message (MMS). On any number of my previous phones, the phone would automatically resize the image so that it wasnt too large to send. That does not appear to be happening on the Eris. I sent one photo, and it was nearly 1100kb. Then another photo I attempted to send would not attach, because it said it was too large (it was like 1250kb in size). So, is there a way to have it automatically resize a photo that is being sent via MMS? Or will I need to do that manually beforehand with an app from the Market, like Picasa or something of the sort?

Samsung Galaxy S : Can SGS Have Better Youtube Video Resolution Than EVO

Aug 27, 2010

After using both the EVO and SGS for weeks, I find the SGS inferior to the EVO in very few ways. The most major one that it being a 3G phone, the Internet speed is of course slower than the EVO's (I have 4G in my area, Los Angeles). I enjoy watch Youtube and SprintTV on the EVO as both the resolution and streaming experience very good, however after watch the low res Youtube on the SGS a few times, I can't make myself watch it under 3G anymore (wifi is better but still not as good as EVO on 4G). But since we can consistently get over 1 meg on 3G, why can't the SGS do better in Youtube video playback? Is there any program that can trick the phone in thinking it is on wifi and playback in higher resolution?

HTC EVO 4G :: Possible Fix To Low Resolution Contact Photos

Jun 8, 2010

I believe I have "stumbled" onto a possible solution to compressed/panelized contact images. I have owned the Hero, Droid and now the EVO. I have tried everything imaginable through exchange and gmail accounts by sending, receiving and downloading images to contacts with no luck....until today!!

I first start with an email with a photo attached from a computer and sent to my gmail account on my EVO. I click the download button the image downloads and then the image comes up on the screen after it completes the fetch of the attachment. Now with that image on the screen click the phone's menu button to share this image via text message as a mms to yourself. I use the Handcent app from the Market and when that image is RECEIVED press and hold on the image to copy it to the SD card. Now you should be able to see two thumbnails of this image in the gallery and the RECEIVED mms image that was saved to the SD card will be noticeably sharper. The lower res one is the first one from the first download from the gmail email. Your mms should show two images the one you SENT and the one you RECEIVED. You need to use the RECEIVED image. For some reason this one is not affected and compressed. The SENT image can not be used, I tried that. It is the RECEIVED mms.*

Then in contacts choose the person you want, click the edit button, tap the square where the image shows in contacts, choose gallery and pick the sharper of the two that were saved. It has worked for me on the EVO today and my daughter's Hero. I have not tried this on the Droid yet. Multiple test calls show a nice, sharp contact image!

Samsung Galaxy S :: GPS - Wrong Or No Tags At All For Photos

Oct 11, 2010

So, after having to live with GPS that's at best flaky and at worst non-existent for the last three months I've now found something else related Samsung has managed to screw up. All the photos my phone has taken are geotagged with 0 lat, 0 lon. So, somewhere off the west coast of Africa. Other handsets I've used have tagged with the inexact location (i.e. cell tower fix) when an accurate location isn't available.

I would expect either this or no tag at all. Maybe while I'm stripping off the tags this evening I'll put in an order for a Desire HD. Thanks Samsung, I'm just about annoyed enough now to no longer care what fixes or updates you may choose to grace us with at some unspecified point in the future. Ok, that rant may have been a bit over the top but I do feel a little better now!
