Samsung Epic 4G :: Mobile Sync Service - Backup Contacts
Sep 4, 2010so I ending up having to do a Factory Reset (after only 3-days), and now I am having to input ALL my contacts again manually - After much searching on Google, I found that Sprint does offer a FREE backup service, however, it's NOT available on the Epic yet - I mean really?!? *rolls eyes* So, are there any other safe + free services out there to backup my contacts? I'd much rather use Sprint's Mobile Sync service, but that may be a ways off yet.

Sep 30, 2010When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

Sep 20, 2010Someone raised the issue to me that Samsung blocks non-market apps. I thought I heard that about at&t or other samsung phones. With all the satisfaction with this phone I couldn't imagine that this would be the case.The Epic 4g can/will run apps just the same as the EVO (no rooting involved), no unexpected restrictions?

Sep 12, 2010Am I the only one having this problem? I purchased my samsung epic a week ago and every since I've been getting the message that my facebook contacts is unable to syn at the moment an error of some sort,and too try later.WTH? My facebook calender syncs but not the contacts.I thought that it was th phone so I took it back to the sprint store they restarted my hard drive but it still didn't work,thy sent me to the repair center at another store and the general manager told me to go back and tell them to replace the phone and that I shouldn't be having issues so soon. Well I did that,they gave me a new phone and guess what.yep u guessed it,still the same issue.I went back to the repair center they played with it for 2 straight hours while I waited impatiently and still I walked away with the same problem. What the heck and I suppose to do now?

Oct 17, 2010I successfully rooted my phone tonight. No problems there.
I successfully installed the Epic Experience v1.1.10 ROM. Everything seems to have installed properly.
All seems to be well, so I went to install Titanium Backup to restore all of my apps from my stock Epic. The installation went fine. I try to run the app for the first time, and I get the following error: "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again".
So I know that my root included BusyBox, because I was able to install and run it on the stock ROM. But just for kicks, I clicked "Problems?" and downloaded the version it says will work. No difference.
I have rebooted the phone several times. Makes no difference.
I have deleted and re-installed Titanium Backup. Makes no difference.

I haven't replaced an HTC phone yet so please forgive my innocence. I'm a converted BB user and now never going back to anything but Droid. Also, will i be receiving LCD screen instead AMOLED screen? Sep 21, 2010Got the Samsung Desk Dock for easy re-charging and using phone on nightstand. If I use the Samsung Desk Home app from the market, that app automatically detects that the phone is in the dock and runs the app. However, no other app is able to detect that the phone is docked, even with the Desk/Home app uninstalled (i.e. not the default). My understanding is that the phone should send a signal to Android if the device is being docked. Then Android sends a broadcast to all apps that the device has been docked. I have tested with two different apps which are designed to run upon the phone being docked and neither detects the phone being docked. Without the Samsung dock app loaded, there is no change when the phone is docked. It seems like only the Samsung app is capable of detecting docking. Am I missing something? How can I get the Epic to send out the "normal" signal to other apps upon being docked?

Oct 27, 2010Uneasily, I allowed the latest Mixzing update to install. I just had a feeling I shouldn't but was responding to a text when I received the prompt. Immediately afterward, I found that sound files (mp3s, etc.) would suddenly quit after playing for thirty or forty seconds. I hastily uninstalled Mixzing, only to find that every music player I try now produces the same result. Has anyone else experienced this? How would you go about troubleshooting without reverting to your last backup, if possible?

When Google sync'd to the phone it created a duplicate of all the contacts. Is there a way to delete all the phone contacts so that all i have is the google contacts, which is what i use as the "master".

Nov 16, 2010My first Android phone, so please forgive my ignorance if any. Rooted Vibrant, flashed from stock ROM to Obsidian V4. I did a "backup current ROM" before "install ROM from SD card" by using Rom Manager. The process went smooth, but after booting into the new ROM, I found that all my contacts were gone. Sync with google account won't help because most of the phone numbers are not tied with my gmail contacts.
Now, I want to know if there is any way to extract/restore my contacts without restoring to the saved backup. Actually, I tried restore but the phone did not boot after restore. Do I have to use Odin to boot my phone to solve this issue? And even if I succeed, will I see all my contacts?
Samsung Epic 4G :: Exporting GMAIL Contacts With Thumbnails
Sep 3, 2010My wife and I both bought new Android phones. I've set each of us up with a gmail account, and I was able to successfully import my contacts from iTunes (I had an iPod Touch). I've spent quite a bit of time in Gmail editing the contacts and adding photos, phone numbers, etc, and would like my wife to share these as well, as a starting point. So what I did was export the contacts to my desktop as a .csv file, then log into *her* account, and import the.csv file. That works great, except I don't have any of the thumbnail photos (which makes sense, 'cause there's nothing in the .csv file about photos). Is there another way to share my contacts with photos, short of going through the whole process of editing each contact from her account and adding a photo?
