When I put my self in the shoes of those who are looking to get one of the other ones, I can only imagine how I might feel... (Not sure really how i would feel). Gotta say I am glad that the Epic has it though

Are you able to use the front facing camera to take a pic of yourself? I'm not an ego maniac, lol, just an idiot I guess. One more question, is there any other way using the stock programs to assign a picture to a contact without having to use the phone's own camera? i.e. linking a pic to contact from facebook or from the sd card?

1) I'm not a photographer
2) I used Vignette on the Evo 4G
3) I used both the Stock camera and Vignette for the Epic
4) The Epic pictures were taken while there was more sunlight out, the Evo was more in optimum lighting.
5) Neither has been retouched in any way
I also have 720p video shot with both phones, just don't know where to upload it yet.
what is everyone using for video calling with our front facing cameras? QIK seems to be free now, is everyone using that or Fring?

guy: it was pushed out to the first 1000, but things went wrong so they pulled it back(talking about the update i500.DI01)
us: ok so we shouldn't be worrying?
guy: no. but you'll get it sometime next week. then you'll get one the week after(didn't say what it would include) and then there will be one in november that will activate the front facing camera.
us: wait, what?
He showed us the 3 little dots on the top of the phone(sensors and i guess a camera).
He said that he talked to a samsung rep yesterday in the store and this is what he told him. the guy actually has a samsung fascinate and showed us so i'm going to believe him.
If you look closely at the 3 dots, the one on the left is alone. the one(s) on the right kinda have two different colors(light sensor and proximity sensor) so i still am going to believe him.
My friend has a galaxy S, but he says he does not have any apps taking advantage of the camera. Are there any uses of that front facing camera, or its just there for show or for people to snoop on to you?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the selling points of the Epic 4G is the 5mp Camera it has.. Gizmodo rated better than the iphone's and even though, it doesn't have 8 mp (Evo), its 5 mp picture has a higher quality than Evo's.
Please post your pictures and if you can use some of the photo apps available ( Fxcamera, Retro cam, Camera Illusion, Vignette, Photostitch), it will give us a better idea of how good the camera and apps are.
I'm curious if anyone knows whether the front-facing camera is disabled in hardware or software. There are definitely holes on the front of the case that look like they could be a camera.

After spening some time on the Evo forums, I have a pretty good idea what the camera will do. I know the Epic has fewer megapixels, but that doesn't mean worse pictures. If you want to zoom in and zoom out when in camera mode, just use your volume rocker up/down to zoom in and out.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI kept having problems accidentally backing out of the camera mode when taking pictures, then I discovered that if you hit the power button on the phone it will lock the camera "open" so that you can't accidentally hit another button while holding the phone to take a picture. Just hit the power button again to unlock it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to use this phone as a digital camera replacement. However when I turn on tehcamera, the power button turns into a "lock" button. There's no way to turn off the screen. So first I have to hit the home key. Then it takes about 8 seconds for the camera to disable before it returns to the home screen.Only then can I shut the phone using the power key. Then if I want to use the camera,I have to turn on the screen and relaunch the camera app.This feels completely wrong to me and makes it hard to use as a pure digital camera.

Is there a setting to change for this? Do i need to move my photos to a specific folder to avoid this? Right now i have all my pictures in the "media" folder. The camera pictures are in the DCIM folder. So how can this be changed?

And yes, I've seen the "No lock" thread, but I still want the phone to be somewhat difficult to accidentally unlock. What would be perfect would be a double click of one of the other buttons to waken and unlock the phone. Is this possible? Maybe it's a root thing?
