View 2 RepliesHere are a few shots taken using both my Epic 4G and my Evo 4G.
1) I'm not a photographer
2) I used Vignette on the Evo 4G
3) I used both the Stock camera and Vignette for the Epic
4) The Epic pictures were taken while there was more sunlight out, the Evo was more in optimum lighting.
5) Neither has been retouched in any way
I also have 720p video shot with both phones, just don't know where to upload it yet.
I have sprint, my phone is an Epic and i love it! however when sending even a simple text i select "new message" the "to" box comes up. i have to start typing in a name to get contacts with similar names to start coming up, which i then select. then i have to repeat for the next contact...i have had cheaper phones that have allowed me to select recipients from my contact list. i have a friend who has Verizon, but has the same andrion platform (i think its a fascinate) and when she clicks on the "to" box, she gets a drop down menu that includes the word "contacts", as well as "recent calls". she clicks on that and goes right down the list selecting recipients...this is standard on her phone, as she did not dwld an app to allow this...MY epic wont do this...can i change a setting or something.

One of the selling points of the Epic 4G is the 5mp Camera it has.. Gizmodo rated better than the iphone's and even though, it doesn't have 8 mp (Evo), its 5 mp picture has a higher quality than Evo's.
Please post your pictures and if you can use some of the photo apps available ( Fxcamera, Retro cam, Camera Illusion, Vignette, Photostitch), it will give us a better idea of how good the camera and apps are.
I am triing something on my EVO to see if the picture and video quality can match the epics. But I need someone who has rooted there epic to send me the epic's orginal camera apk file to see if it works on the EVO.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to decide between an EVO and an Epic, and one of the key features I am concerned about is the camera. After spening some time on the Evo forums, I have a pretty good idea what the camera will do. I know the Epic has fewer megapixels, but that doesn't mean worse pictures. Anyone have any good info on what the Epic's camera will be like? Ideally some sort of comparison of something besides megapixels would be awesome!
View 4 Replies View Relatedi mean the single shot mode takes good pictures. but why do the limit the size when i choose anything esle? i hate that. think they will make a update which will make you able to take pictures in all settings with all 5 mexapixels?
View 33 Replies View RelatedAre you able to use the front facing camera to take a pic of yourself? I'm not an ego maniac, lol, just an idiot I guess. One more question, is there any other way using the stock programs to assign a picture to a contact without having to use the phone's own camera? i.e. linking a pic to contact from facebook or from the sd card?
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf you want to zoom in and zoom out when in camera mode, just use your volume rocker up/down to zoom in and out.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI kept having problems accidentally backing out of the camera mode when taking pictures, then I discovered that if you hit the power button on the phone it will lock the camera "open" so that you can't accidentally hit another button while holding the phone to take a picture. Just hit the power button again to unlock it.

When I put my self in the shoes of those who are looking to get one of the other ones, I can only imagine how I might feel... (Not sure really how i would feel). Gotta say I am glad that the Epic has it though
View 31 Replies View RelatedI want to use this phone as a digital camera replacement. However when I turn on tehcamera, the power button turns into a "lock" button. There's no way to turn off the screen. So first I have to hit the home key. Then it takes about 8 seconds for the camera to disable before it returns to the home screen.Only then can I shut the phone using the power key. Then if I want to use the camera,I have to turn on the screen and relaunch the camera app. This feels completely wrong to me and makes it hard to use as a pure digital camera.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen in the camera and you hit the play button to review pictures, all pictures on the phone come up instead of just the ones i've taken with my camera. Is there a setting to change for this? Do i need to move my photos to a specific folder to avoid this? Right now i have all my pictures in the "media" folder. The camera pictures are in the DCIM folder. So how can this be changed?

View 7 Replies View RelatedNot crazy about the placement of the power button. Is there a way to remap the volume or camera buttons to wake the phone? And yes, I've seen the "No lock" thread, but I still want the phone to be somewhat difficult to accidentally unlock. What would be perfect would be a double click of one of the other buttons to waken and unlock the phone. Is this possible? Maybe it's a root thing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using this phone since June, and the camera quality always is something that I hope can be improved on HTC Desire. Previously, I shared a photo to my friend, and he told me that I use a 4MP camera. I was shocked, because it should be 5MP. He's using a photo viewing software that can display photo details. Anyway, I had a look in the camera's setting, resolution 5MP (2592 X 1552). I curiously multiply two numbers, 2592 X 1552 = 4022784 which is 4MP.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy current mobile phone is an LG/Sprint Optimus S, whose camera has 3.2 mpx resolution. My previous (and first) smart phone was an HTC Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and is perhaps better known as the Topaz, Pure being its AT&T edition. The camera on that phone does 5.0 mpx, so it's obviously much better. Even on just the small device screens, you can see the quality difference at a glance.
For a particular objective, I need to be able to take good pictures on the go, but have the Internet connection provided by my current Android device. In other words, I want to take pictures with the HTC, beam them to my Optimus, and then use that to send out the pictures. I was having a bit of trouble getting the devices to work well together in their native states, so I flashed a version of Froyo onto the old HTC. Having done that, I found that the Bluetooth connection between the devices worked quite well. But when I try to use one of the Android camera apps to take pictures on the HTC, it's not taking full advantage of the lens' capability. The photos show up on the screen about the size of a large postage stamp; in fact not much bigger than a thumbnail picture.
Do Android camera apps not work at any better resolution than 3.2?
