View 7 RepliesThere is an app in the market which is written just for the Moment that uses the camera flash as a flashlight -- essentially it turns on the camera flash. The application says not to use the flash "too long" or damage may occur, but the "too long" time period is not defined. First, will having the flash on for an period of time damage it? Second, if so, any idea what maximum period of time would be "safe?"

View 10 Replies View RelatedFirst, is there a good reason the captivate does not have a camera flash (aside from the devs thinking the night mode worked 'well enough')?
If not: I strongly suggest we get a huge number of people to say they would be interested in buying a flashlight/camera flash add-on for the phone were someone to develop one. After we get a big enough number, we'll kindly forward it to several companies. I took my phone out last night for halloween, and was quite disappointed with the night quality. I'm sure something like this would be profitable at ~$6, but I would pay $10-15 to cover research costs/etc.

View 13 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago, my camera flash/flashlight stopped working. I didn't know the cause. Occassionally, I noticed the flash would come on very dull before going out again. Then it stopped working completely. Although I was unable to find a thread suggesting that anyone else was having this problem, I figured that my bulbs must have died. I kept meaning to go get it checked out at a Sprint store, but I just wasn't making time to go. Last week, one of the corners on my PhantomSkinz cover got beat up a little bit. I have another set here ready to go (matte instead of the clear), and I was going to put the new skin on, but I decided I should go to the Sprint store to have my flash looked at first just in case they were going to replace my device. So I went this morning.
I waited for about two hours while a tech worked on my phone. I kept being reassured that it would be done soon, so I kept waiting around. When the CS rep brought me my phone, she said that they had been unable to fix the flash. They had replaced the bulbs without success, so they replaced the entire camera and still had no success. Then they did a wipe of my phone, and still the flash wouldn't work. Replacement device should be here tomorrow..............
I've seen threads about this for the moto droid, but I was wondering if anyone knows of one that supports the incredible?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere are a few shots taken using both my Epic 4G and my Evo 4G.
1) I'm not a photographer
2) I used Vignette on the Evo 4G
3) I used both the Stock camera and Vignette for the Epic
4) The Epic pictures were taken while there was more sunlight out, the Evo was more in optimum lighting.
5) Neither has been retouched in any way
I also have 720p video shot with both phones, just don't know where to upload it yet.
One of the selling points of the Epic 4G is the 5mp Camera it has.. Gizmodo rated better than the iphone's and even though, it doesn't have 8 mp (Evo), its 5 mp picture has a higher quality than Evo's.
Please post your pictures and if you can use some of the photo apps available ( Fxcamera, Retro cam, Camera Illusion, Vignette, Photostitch), it will give us a better idea of how good the camera and apps are.
I am triing something on my EVO to see if the picture and video quality can match the epics. But I need someone who has rooted there epic to send me the epic's orginal camera apk file to see if it works on the EVO.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to decide between an EVO and an Epic, and one of the key features I am concerned about is the camera. After spening some time on the Evo forums, I have a pretty good idea what the camera will do. I know the Epic has fewer megapixels, but that doesn't mean worse pictures. Anyone have any good info on what the Epic's camera will be like? Ideally some sort of comparison of something besides megapixels would be awesome!
View 4 Replies View Relatedi mean the single shot mode takes good pictures. but why do the limit the size when i choose anything esle? i hate that. think they will make a update which will make you able to take pictures in all settings with all 5 mexapixels?
View 33 Replies View RelatedIf you could only choose one of these, which would you have chosen for the Fascinate? (Obviously it would be best to have both).
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy app is using the camera on the phone. For phones w/ 2.0+ I have been able to activate the Flash. When I test on a phone with 1.5 OS on it the app crashes. I get: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException and the Cause is java.lang.VerifyError: fishers.Nav.TakePicture$1
I assume because you have to access the flash differently in apps below 2.0? Can anyone give me some advice or links to examples showing how I could make it work over the whole range of Operating System version or is that just not at all do-able?
Being relatively new to my Droid, I'm still finding fun stuff. Recently, I picked up the shell/holster combo and really like it. However, while I am at work, I have my phone on vibrate (thanks Timeriffic) and can't tell who is texting/emailing me like I used to (different colors for the LED, thanks Handcent). What I was wondering is: is it possible to write an app that uses the camera flash like a vibrate function.
The ability to customize the number of flashes and duration would be cool, as would the ability to have it only flash when the phone is on vibrate or silent. Preferably, without having to root the phone. If its not possible due to hardware or software lockouts oh well.
Can anyone recommend a good flashlight app that uses the camera flash LEDs that works with the Incredible?I miss that functionality. Had it with my Nokia 5800.I've searched here without much success. Most of the apps I've seen discussed are for other Android phone models.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHaving only recently bought a HTC Desire, I am now bugged with a flashlight issue. The led flashlight on my phone does not seem to work at all (neither in camera mode or the new flashlight app in android 2.2). The flash definitely worked when I originally got the phone but now does nothing.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got a rooted Android device (Motorola Photon Q running stock ICS 4.0.4) which happened to have rear camera broken - specifically - the camera connector on motherboard . Before, all the apps I tried were able to switch on the flashlight to use as a torch. Since the camera went broke, none of them work. When opening stock Camera application, it shows front facing camera view. The switch is grayed out. It used to show an error like "failed to initialize" about back camera before showing front camera view, but it does not anymore, after trying to fix the connector I've written my own application to at least debug it and find out where the problem lays, and tried a few ways to light the flash, but no luck.
The question is:
Any way to bypass the checking of back camera (starting it) and going directly to switching on the flashlight? Or is there any general or device-specific way to enable flashlight without camera working (but plugged in, just a few pins of total 32 are lost)? I can provide any specific logs, files or parts of the ROM
I will be getting another motherboard in a few months probably, but before then, I want to challenge this. As of ideas, I was searching and thinking of either creating sth like DroidLED for my device (however I dont know if such approach is still valid under ICS) or somehow switching hardware addresses of back and front camera, so the front one would act like a back one. Both hard or impossible.
I thought the Epic 4G had flash lite or something like that. I cannot get any flash content to load but I do see Flash installed on the phone.
