View 3 RepliesNever actually saw this brought up. I keep reading about the stock program that comes with the phone for video calling, but what about Skype?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAre you able to use the front facing camera to take a pic of yourself? I'm not an ego maniac, lol, just an idiot I guess. One more question, is there any other way using the stock programs to assign a picture to a contact without having to use the phone's own camera? i.e. linking a pic to contact from facebook or from the sd card?
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow to switch cameras on the Fring app yet? Some kind of way I used the back cam yesterday then I restarted the phone and it reverted back to the front.
View 10 Replies View Relatedwe got a requirement to record video from front and rear cameras simultaniously.. In the Android 2.1 SDK we only have the MediaRecorder.VideoSource.CAMERA and DEFAULT, but not FRONT_CAMERA and REAR_CAMERA. So, is there any other way to record from Front camera.. like any third party API's.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom all the pre release stuff I saw it looked like the Droid X was going to include a front facing camera. At the announcement today the pictures of the X looked like there was no camera and I haven't seen it mentioned. Is there not going to be a front camera on this phone. Doesn't matter to me, but I'm trying to talk my wife into getting one of these and she really wants a front camera for video calls.
View 6 Replies View RelatedBecause my Motorola Droid X and many other phones lacked a front-facing camera, it was impossible for me to find a good application for Video Calling until recently that I found this AIR application. I am happy to know now that I can at least make clear video calls with my device. Oh and did I also mention it was free?
View 9 Replies View RelatedHas anyone rigged up a device to convert the back camera into a front facing camera? I may experiment with this at some point. In the past I have simply sat in front of a mirror and pointed the camera into the mirror, this way I don't need to flip the phone back and forth to video chat.
However, I am envisioning a device (perhaps made of plastic or cardboard... business cards might even work) with angled mirrors on it, that can sit on top of the phone. One mirror would be facing the camera, the other would be facing you. The second mirror would mirror your image to the mirror facing the camera. Just a thought, I haven't played with this, so the image may be upside down, requiring another mirror. Attached is a paint mock up. I'll post my results when I get around to building one. I encourage others to try and improve upon a design. Could be a cool little project.
Which current of near future handsets have a front camera making video calling possible?
View 9 Replies View Relatedjust went in to the verizon store to see why my girlfriends fascinate(i have an incredible ) wouldn't update. here's the conversation:
guy: it was pushed out to the first 1000, but things went wrong so they pulled it back(talking about the update i500.DI01)
us: ok so we shouldn't be worrying?
guy: no. but you'll get it sometime next week. then you'll get one the week after(didn't say what it would include) and then there will be one in november that will activate the front facing camera.
us: wait, what?
He showed us the 3 little dots on the top of the phone(sensors and i guess a camera).
He said that he talked to a samsung rep yesterday in the store and this is what he told him. the guy actually has a samsung fascinate and showed us so i'm going to believe him.
If you look closely at the 3 dots, the one on the left is alone. the one(s) on the right kinda have two different colors(light sensor and proximity sensor) so i still am going to believe him.
My friend has a galaxy S, but he says he does not have any apps taking advantage of the camera. Are there any uses of that front facing camera, or its just there for show or for people to snoop on to you?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWanted to know if there are any APIs exposed by Samsung to access and use the front facing camera provided in Galaxy S?
View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently i got 2 android phones by samsung. One is Samsung Galaxy i5801 Apolo and the other Samsung i5500(Galaxy 5).
Both these mobiles don't have a front camera in it. Is it possible to make a video call from these devices without a front camera?
Any options through android apps or etc?
I've tried several answer I've found across the web Am i missing out on something? I've searched StackOverflow and I know this has been asked before but there seem to be no confirmed solution on this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm curious if anyone knows whether the front-facing camera is disabled in hardware or software. There are definitely holes on the front of the case that look like they could be a camera.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf you could only choose one of these, which would you have chosen for the Fascinate? (Obviously it would be best to have both).
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there an app or a way that will allow us to use a web cam, as a front facing cam for video calls?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThat really angers me that they would also put a front facing cam, just when we thought we had this to ourselves. I still wouldn't get an iPhool, EVO is still gonna be the best!
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have recently seen quite a few people on here looking for an easy way to access the front camera. Search the market (or Google) for an app called Mirror 4 Evo. periodically do a market search for Evo and you will find some good apps. Some made for the evo and some will tell you if they work on the evo or not.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the Tango app and its great to communicate with iPhone 4 users. When testing it out with a friend being in the same place, I could see him clearly but he couldn't see me. We were standing next to each other in the same kind of light (street light at night). I could see me on his phone but it was very dark and it was more of the background light, i don't get it i thought that the Evo front camera was better than the iphone 4's front cam?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm currently a Desire owner and contemplating pre-ordering the Desire HD. The deciding point for me is if it has a forward facing camera or not...
Nowhere on the internet mentions a forward facing camera. HTC, when I emailed them, stated the phone does not support video calls, however I then sent an email saying it looked like it had a forward facing camera on the earpiece and they replied to confirm that yes, it was a forward facing camera.
Looking at the pictures of the Desire HD, at the top right of the earpiece / speaker you can see a small object that looks like a forward facing camera.
Despite the email from HTC I'm still sceptical because it's not been mentioned anywhere else, including on their own specs on their website.
Quality of their Front Facing Camera? I recently received a refurb from Sprint and noticed that my pics come out like this... The back camera is perfect, just the front looks like this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWill anyone really use this for anything other than taking a pic of yourself? (at least early on) I hope a feature like this with video call capability works with all carriers...especially the new iphone 4g (im an HTC man, but the fact is so many ppl will have the new iphone). i have the feeling we will be the firsts with this technology and never really get to use it on a regular basis with this particular phone.
View 49 Replies View RelatedIs that pinhole lens looking deal above the word Sprint on the phone the front facing camera? How do you activate it? When I go in to the camera and camcorder, it defaults to the lens on the back. I've looked at the settings, and I'm not seeing where to activate it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just been fooling with the front facing camera and I noticed something that maybe some of you can explain more thoroughly. When I have the camera held vertically, the alignment is great, but when I turn the phone horizontally the image has a funny angle. It is almost like the lens is angled to the right, which would mean that it is slightly angled down when held vertically. Am I just getting goofed up by the "mirror image" issue? This isn't a problem, but it does make self portraits while being horizontally held pretty weird.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently using an e71, a phone Nokia released back in 2008. I am looking to upgrade to an Android phone, and here are some of my requirements.I am on AT&T and can not switch. However, all the phones I have used, include my current e71 are unlocked. I can not bear to see my phone locked down by AT&T with all their custom crap. Therefore the phone should work on AT&T 3G bands here in the US and should be available unlocked. It should have a front facing camera. I use Fring on my e71 and video chat with my parents all the time over both 3.5G and wifi, and I LOVE it. This is by the far the only feature holding me back.I would prefer a physical qwerty like the e71 but a virtual one is ok too, but the camera is a must.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes the front facing camera work for qik? and what about the pic quaality does it go all the way to 8mp, i take a lot of pics so is really important tome, any other feature that doesn't work that you guys think is important(4g, radio and hdmi), i would like to used 4g but don't mind too much and i'm running fresh 3.2.0.0 just looking for something fast and new to play, i have launcher pro+ so not problems with widgets, the only thing i might miss will be the dialer because stock android is just ugly and not functionality as HTC(and the keyboard too)
