It seems like I'm not the only one having issues with my headset not controlling my music. Even when I'm not on a call, the button seems to only want to control my phone.

Is there a way to change the song/look at whats playing on the lockscreen while you are playing music with the stock player? I always have to unlock, drag down the notifier bar, click on the player. On my hero, there was a music thing on the lockscreen where I could pause, or go to the next/previous song?

Like many, I've had a real problem with a loose headphone jack on my Droid. As the jack gets moved (bumped in my pocket, for example) it causes the music player to turn on/off, which is super annoying. To describe it better, if I were to hold onto the headphone end piece where it connects and move it around, I can trigger the music on and off...it must be moving the connector inside somehow. Had the Droid replaced once. New Droid - same issue. New idea --- Is there any way to entirely disable the headphone's ability to control to Droid? My thought is that if I can turn that off altogether, it will no longer be a concern that it's loose.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMoved from an iPhone 3G. It an do more but it sure take hacking. I have a few problems but I'll start with the main one. I am absolutely annoyed by the (wired) headset button behavior. On the iPhone I used the button for three things. Phone operation (pick up when rings, hang up to end call). Stop and start (and skip to next/previous) for music and for podcasts. I absolutely cannot replicate this functionality on the N1. I tried close to a dozen podcatchers. Most worked just fine but I either had to tell then to take over the button in which case it did not work in the music player or I had to disable it in which case it worked for the music player but not the podcast app. Behavior for incoming phone calls were pretty random depending on which app I used. Some overrode the podcast and rang into the headset and allowed me to pick up with the button, some didn't and I had to scramble to get to the phone. And it is absolutely annoying to press the button expecting to pause whatever I am listening to and to get a second thing playing on top of it. Not cool. I had no intentions of developing a new hobby: unexpectedly listening to music, a podcast while trying to order food at the counter. I am waiting for the moment I'll get to try all these things while trying to pick up the phone. (I think you get the picture).
After doing some reading I am not optimistic that I'll fix this. It sounds like applications have to hijack the headset button from each other. This explains the total randomness of actions. It never is assigned to the last thing I was listening to (with priority to phone controls when needed). That would make sense.
Thinking of possible solutions (short of anything destructive to the phone), I developed a few that theoretically could work.
1, I heard of apps in which I can regain some control over what the button does. Sounds like a pain in the ass especially since I do not want to think about these things but I have not tried these yet.
2, Getting a podcatcher that downloads podcasts in the background and allows the media player to see them. This way I would never have to run the podcatcher and could do everything from the media player. So far I only messed with the defalt audio player app on the N1. When I tell the podcatcher(s) to allow the music player to see the podcasts, it usually shows up as chaos. My music directory is chaotic enough. This just does not sound like a good solution (though I admit I did not explore alternative music players and how much order they can bring to the status quo with some tweaking).
3, Theoretically speaking it sounds like if I could find an awesome integrated music player with a built in podcatcher (an app that could take care of both downloading and playing my podcasts and dealing with my music) that could work great assuming it allows the phone to take over controls inside and during incoming calls. I have not found such an app yet.
4, Anything I missed?
I am pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to this thing. We are talking about the three main functionality of my personal smartphone (closely followed by email, the browser and possibly the map which all work great). I need these things to work seamlessly and flawlessly to be happy as they worked with the iPhone. (Well, the iphone didn't have the automated podcatching capability but I was able to sync whenever I wanted so it was close enough.)
Right now, when I press the button on my headphones, the stock music app plays/pauses. Double-click dials voicemail, rather than skipping to the next song. Is there any way to fix this? I tried TuneWiki, which is nice, but it crashed on me a couple of times. It behaves properly, but I'd obviously like it to keep playing.I realize I might be nit-picking with this one, but I screwed up my shoulder and will be in a sling riding the metro to work tomorrow. I'd like to keep the music playing and be able to change tracks using my one good hand, especially since it's likely that I'll be standing up.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't own an Epic but have thought about jumping from verizon to sprint for their superior 3G coverage in my area. The only phone that interests me is the Epic so I have been reading a lot of forums and reviews. I have heard that the Samsung is supposed to have great quality through the 3.5mm(I think because of some pre-amp or dedicated part of the processor. I'm no expert and cant remember what I read and where).
I haven't really seen to many comments about the audio quality from the 3.5mm headset jack and also the exterior speaker loudness and quality. Coming from the Original Moto Droid it has the best external speaker on any other phone I've owned thus far but sub-par 3.5mm headset jack quality/loudness. Can anybody give me some of their personal opinions on how they think the Epic external speaker matches up to the original Moto Droid and how about the quality/loudness out of the 3.5mm.
I just started Pandora up on my shiny new Epic but the audio does not stream to my BT headset by default apparently and I cannot figure out how to make it so. I have the new Blueant Q2 and have been streaming music on my Palm Pre prior to today.

since I've installed Listen the play, pause, skip and back buttons only control Listen. Kind of annoying when I'm using the music player. anyone know where in settings I can set it to work with the standard music player?
Unplugged headset bug was pissing me off so much that I decided to work with it.
Galaxo 1.6.3.x is really great and kicks ass.
If music app annoys you after unplugging headset just delete it.
Delete from system/app two files:
Music.apk
Music.odex
No need to restart, unplug your headphones and enjoy quiet.
Instead of crappy music.apk use Meridian from market
I looked at previous threads and could not find an answer for the Capitvate. I would like to listen to music or videos thru my blue tooth headset, It worked on my old samsung eternity, and i am having problems with my cappy.

But the issue starts when I try to listen to music from my samsung. I can't hear any music although the phone and headsety are seeing each other. Can anyone help me on this?
Before I installed a different music player into my vibrant, I could use wired headset to play/pause the default music play, or even pandora. Now the button only works with the music player I recently installed. Does anybody how to set the control back to the default music player?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyways, whenever i'm listening to music, and I press the play/pause button on my headset to control my music tracks, my phone turns on. This get's really annoying because every time my phone turns on, it stays on for a few seconds, and this really kills battery life. I've tried lurking around my phone's settings and even my launcher settings.
My phone is a rooted HTC Wildfire S running AOKP custom rom with Nova Launcher Prime. And if it makes any difference, I'm using the "Start" lock screen from the Play Store.

For some reason the four buttons at the bottom aren't as sensitive as the touch screen. When tapping on icons on the touch screen, i can pretty much just use my finger nail, but to get the button on the bottom to consistently respond, I have to push and hold with my entire thumb. Anyone else have this problem? Is there some way to turn up the sensitivity?

Given that this is the main screen and not one of the capacitive buttons, I find this behavior very strange.
Even though the end call is over 2x the size of my finger, it doesnt seem to work no matter how many time i press it! (most of the time).

I am a newbie and this is my first smart phone.I love the Epic everything works perfectly after I exchanged the first one for the back button issue.My question is I am listening to streaming radio in the car, through a cassette adapter that is plugged into the headphone jack on the epic and everything is cool. when I get a phone call - The radio goes off and I can accept the call, however here is the problem.When I answer the call I can hear the caller through the car speakers (makes sense) but they cannot hear me, I try pressing the speaker button and still they cannot hear me. I think the Samsung programmers have assumed that I have headphones plugged in with an attached mic and not a straight output jack.How do I answer calls in this situation?I am not willing to unplug the cassette adapter when cruising down the interstate at great speed.Is there a setting or a device (bluetooth or other?) that will enable what I need to accomplish.CLOSED - I just bought a $10 cable with a built in mic from Best Buy.

If so, then list your car brand and model. How did you do it? Are the songs all MP3? from Itunes? Are the songs in any particular folder on the microSD card?
Me: 2010 Prius NAVI...the car audio can only read 3 songs out of many (all from Itunes). I do have 2 songs from Amazon MP3, but they are not read either. The same 3 songs over and over again. My phone is in "mass storage" mode.
