I am sorry if this has been covered. I am coming from a 3g and can't figure out how to add multiple numbers for each contact. The tech @ the at&t store transfered them from my iphone for me. Only one number per contact transferred. Also is it better to store them on the sim card or phone?

My phone strips the area code from only one of my contacts preventing the text from going through. I have changed the contact name, deleted and readded, but anytime I try to text this particular number from the contact menu, it doesn't work.

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a business user that has been a Blackberry user.Recently moved the to Samsung Fascinate.Love a lot about it but noticed that the contacts that have phone numbers followed by an extension the Fascinate lumps all of these numbers together rather than dialing the 10 digits and asking me if I want to dial the extension. Thus the call does not even go through because the 16 or more digit number now is not recognized as a valid phone number.Does anyone have a work around with an app or a new release?

I'm using Android 2.1 on the Galaxy S.I have multiple numbers defined per contact, e.g. mobile, work, home. Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

I bought it online around July 23 or 24 and I need to return it before my 30 day window is up. Can I bring it back to any AT&T Store or do I have to ship it back?
And if I ship it back today (8/22) and they don't receive it until say the 26th or 27th, can I still argue that I returned it within the return period?
Before I knew better I looked at the default voicemail number and said "well that's not my number." and promptly changed it. Does anyone know what the default number should be? Is it the same for all phones or should I take it to the ATT store and have them fix it? Will a factory reset solve my problems?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can text anyone outside my area code, but when I try it with anyone in my area code I get a message that says to use the proper 10 digit phone number. I understand what that means, and have the 10 digit numbers programed for all my contacts, but when I hit on a contact and hit the text button only the 7 digit number comes up. That works fine with voice calls, but not with texting. I've been through my phone 20 times trying to find a way to make it use a 10 digit number for texting, can't find it.

I am able to send and rec sms through google voice and my new GV # but I can only send sms from my att number. I cannot receive any sms from my att number and people who are sending them do not get any kind of message they just get lost in the network somewhere. People in general and my boss are getting mad because they think I am just ignoring them.

Overall VERY good despite the posts I've read. Very intuitive UI but I could see where some mods would be sweet. EXCELLENT GPS performance; 15-30 sec fixes INDOORS with 5-10m accuracy w/out WiFi. My BJII was never this good. Excellent You Tube performance WITH HQ playback. 8GB SDHC works flawlessly, My only suck is phone contacts transfer from WM6. BTW - bod was 7/22/10. Now on to the Market, sideloading and may be root.

I currently have my display set to time out after one minute. When I'm using the music player is there anyway to prevent the screen from locking. I have having to unlock it to switch tracks.
As a side, is there a way to change the locking system from a sliding pattern to a number code?
I have a captivate. When I compose a text message the persons number initially shows up as the ten digits. Now when I close out of the text message and try to go back and serbs something the persons number shows up as only 7 digits. When I try to send a text with only the 7 numbers I get a return error message saying
8852662 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number.
Two related questions regarding the Captivate's built-in "Contact" app - both dealing with linked contacts from Gmail and Facebook:
1)Has anyone found a way to change which picture is displayed for a linked contact? On the HTC Aria, you could choose whether you wanted the picture from Gmail or the one from Facebook.
2)Has anyone found a way to change the displayed name in Contacts. Again, on the HTC Aria, you could pick whether to display the name from your Gmail contact or the one from the Facebook contact.
Has anyone been able to get their contacts to sync with their facebook profile picture? I finally got the account synced or so it says, and if Im in contacts and click on the far right tab I can see everyone's status but none of the facebook profile pics have been applied.

I have tried to sync my contacts and FB together (not all of my FB contacts as I have 500+) but just the main people I talk to on a regular basis and it has created duplicate entries in my contact list. I know this not an operating hinderance to the phone but it is just annoying.
What is the point of syncing when it just created more entries? It also has duplicates in the drop down to: part when I create a new text message. Should I take all of my contacts off my SIM and copy them to the phone? Is there a way to have one entry for my contacts including the FB pic? I am importing my contacts from hotmail to gmail now and hoping this might help.
I have applied my photos to my contacts. My only issue is the image size. I need a full or half screen image, rather then the thumbnail (1x1). Can this be fixed as is, or do I need an app for that?

But I've been trying to assign an individual ringtone to my wife's number (she doesn't care for "Secret Prayer" by Joe Satriani, suggested something by ABBA, and is lucky she isn't getting "Scolding Wife" by Great Big Sea) but I haven't had any luck. None of these contacts are syncing with Gmail. After some researching it appears as though only contacts of type Google will sync with gmail. So, how do I convert my existing contacts to Google contacts? I can't seem to find anyway to do that.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt might sound lazy, but I am looking for a better/faster way (other than voice, which only works in quiet areas) to dial someone in my contacts. I am coming from BlackBerry, where I used to tap out the first few letters in the first OR last name and it would quickly narrow to the desired contact. Then click 'send.Each of these can take several or many "keystrokes." Also, for some reason if I type several keystrokes of a first or last name, it only recognizes a name if that contact happens to be indexed according to that part of name. For example, if John Doe is indexed as Doe, John, then typing out J-O-H...does not bring up John Doe. But for some crazy reason the indexing for my contacts got screwed up so half of them are sorted by first name and the other half by last name (so changing the Options settings doesn't get them all indexed correctly). Also because there are so many choices (using Contacts, using the dialer, using the search box on the homescreen, etc.) there isn't just one clear best way.
