Has anyone gotten the free version of where working yet? I have the apk but can't install because it says its already installed. I REFUSE to give ATT three bucks a month for something other carriers allow for free. I have not rooted this one yet because I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to have to exchange it.

Right now I am changing the package name in eclipse and changing the code manually, but this seems really inefficient. Can anybody suggest a good way of having 2 or more projects that share most of the code?

I basically want the Moto Droid lock screen on my EVO for the slide to toggle sound on/off feature due to the lack of an external switch on the EVO. The SYM button and the one to the left of it are blanked out - meaning they are just black boxes and clicking/pressing them does nothing. She has had to switch to the default keyboard and she hates it.Any idea what is going on and how to fix this?

However just using the adobe pdf viewer is kind of a hassle.
Are there any programs that are ebook like that allow me to import my pdf files? I tried Aldiko but it wouldn't allow me to import them. Says no files found.
Any ideas on how to free up space without deleting apps? I really like One Click Lag Fix, I don't wanna get rid of it just for space reasons. I was just looking using Root Explorer and there are some massive files in /data/fota. What are they? I have 3 files, fota.status, (Size 36) and fota_delta_dp1 and fota_delta_dp2 both size 62914560. That seems like a lot, I'm guessing it's measured in bytes so that'd be 60 megabytes or so, so 120 total. Are they safe to remove, seems like the results from the over-the-air update.

When you connect to a Wi-Fi network, it uses the GSM base tower identifier (CellID) to determine the location of the Wi-Fi network and stores it in memory. It does not use the GPS. I saved my home network earlier this afternoon and went out, Wi-Fi was turned off while I was out, then after I came home and started using my phone, I was connected again, so it seems to be working so far.

I've been doing a bit of research, and it seems that Samsung Kies is not meant for (or supported) for North America. Apparently, the older versions of Kies could work on our Captivates and was available to download through Samsung's Europe site. However, the newer versions of Samsung Kies can apparently detect that we've got North American Captivates and will not connect. Anybody have links to the older versions? Doesn't proprietary-ness totally defeat the reason we bought androids in the first place?
View 9 Replies View RelatedPSA: AT&T doesn't charge you for OTA firmware updates -- Engadget Mobile. So it says that they wont charge us for downloading OTA update, but... my log says otherwise. ( the 13k kb ones are the OTA update download btw) How come it ate up my data usage? I previously had approximately 85-89mb of data usage for the month, but after attempting to download the OTA update quite a few times ( I was frustrated since it keeps telling me that update failed ), it showed up on my data usage log. Now AT&T tells me that I've used 159mb/200mb so far, and I even got a text this morning saying I've used 65% of my data usage for the month. ( I'm on the 200mb data plan ) What the heck is going on? what if there's an OTA update in the future that are three digit long. If I go over my limit, I would have to pay extra $15.00 for another 200mb of data.

I want to have a paid version that removes the ads and adds extra features. How can I use the paid app as a "license key" to unlock the features in the free app? So the user would install the free app, then install the paid app to get the extra features, but they would still run the free app (which would now be unlocked). What's the best approach to doing this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf all you're trying to do is transfer files from/to your Captivate, and you're having trouble with the USB drivers, just download an app called SwiFTP. I got it and it took me half a minute to gain access to my files and MP3s on the phone, wirelessly, over WiFi, using Windows file explorer. Then just drag, drop, delete, copy, whatever.
No jailbreaking, rooting, sideloading or hacking required. I think this should be a sticky since so many people are having trouble with USB.
I swear that WiFi seems to quit working half the time. I'll be browsing the web, it will quit working, and I can turn WiFi off and 3G works just fine. When I re enable Wifi, it works for a bit and then does it again. I'm on a 24MB/s Internet connection, and everything else wireless in the home works fine(my iPhone 4 works flawlessly).

When I got the phone I wasn't using a case and the thing locked on to GPS right away. Then I purchased that clear plastic case at&t is selling in their stores. GPS was fine but I hated the case so today I returned it to get the rubber body glove one that was being sold. Tonight I tried using the GPS and suddenly it's not locking on, and when it does lock on it's way off...
Anyone else experiencing this?
