Samsung Captivate :: Way To Change SMS Tone?
Jul 25, 2010Probably an easy question to answer but how in the heck do I change my SMS tones on the Captivate. I have looked in the places I thought it should be but cannot figure it out.

Oct 9, 2010Okay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

Sep 25, 2010I put my phone in my pocket, and forgot to lock it.Something setting wise got changed and now it clicks/beeps every time i type. I went to settings>sound and display>audible selection.its unchecked.ive toggled it, powercycled the phone and even yelled at it.

All I see in settings is the preloaded ring tones. My question is : How do I load my own ring tones and use them? Do i just create a ring tone folder and what should i do from there? Or there are other ways.

Aug 5, 2010I just downloaded on the computer and put it as a notification tone. Problem is that it's not that loud. If anyone out there know a downloadable link for a good one please post it. Moderators I don't know if u want to make a sticky for post about finding wallpapers, ringtones and downloadable stuff but it'll help rather than having a bunch of noob androids like myself posting new topics everyday. Aug 5, 2010I'm on my 2nd captivate and both of these bugs have happened on both phones.
First being the backlight remaining on unless I lock the phone manually. This will happen even with the backlight auto turn off set to 30 seconds. This has happened a handful of times, and I can make the backlight turn off if I want by using the lock key, but it will never auto turn off. This is fixed by power cycling the phone.
Second, my notification volume. I've noticed a few times that I'll have a text or something waiting on my phone for which I didn't hear the notification tone. When I go to the phones settings I find that the notification volume is down around 25% instead of the 75% or so I keep it set at. This seems to happen randomly.
Motorola Droid X :: Audible Selections Not Audible Anymore
Oct 1, 2010Audible selections do not make any sounds anymore. It was working fine today; later on, however, I had suddenly noticed that whenever I touch various buttons, icons, widgets, etc. on the screen, there was no audible sound. I tried rebooting, but that did not help at all. Also tried unchecking & checking the Audible Selection box, problem still remained.

I cannot find where to force the phone to send tones for touch tone systems. The search function gave me everything but touch tone information, and I went through three pages of search results.
Samsung Captivate :: Touch Screen Compared To HTC's Touch Screen?
Jul 17, 2010Just a quick question about the Captivate. I just got myself an HTC Aria and I love how easy it is to use the touch screen on it. Its extremely responsive. Now my sister has the SamSung Instinct on Sprint and the touch screen is horrible compared to HTCs touch on the Aria. Im thinking about taking the HTC back to AT&T and getting the Samsung Captivate. I am just worried about the touch screen on it and if it will be like the Instincts? If the touch is as good as HTCs Ill get it. If its not, then Ill stick with the Aria because despite its size, its an extremely fun and responsive phone. Any thoughts?

Nov 24, 2010I got AT&T Samsung Captivate i897 (2.1 Eclair). I unlocked and rooted my phone. I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

Sep 1, 2010I've done a bunch of searching on google and elsewhere on this in the past but have not seem to have found anything on the topic, but it came back on my mind today after making a call.
Almost [anytime?] I am speaking on the phone [with anyone?] I will intermittently get a "touch tone" sound blasted in my ear randomly. At first I thought it may have been because my ear/face was hitting a button on the screen, but this happens even when the keypad is hidden. The other odd thing is that it only seems to happen on MY end, the caller on the other end will *NEVER* hear it when I have asked.
I *do* use google voice for all my calls. I do not know if this happens outside of GV or if it has anything to do with it. Any ideas why this could be, or has anyone run into this issue?
Today it was in my mind because it was happening a LOT (every minute or so) when I was talking to one of my friends. I never took note about it happening more often with her vs. other people or not [honestly, I don't use TALK so much on my phone] but we had a longer conversation today and it kept happening randomly.
It's definitely coming through the headset and not out of the speaker (ie: it will drown out the voice on the other end), and I did disable all touch-tone sounds on the phone. It is the sound you would receive through a regular phone system through the headset, not a chinsy "beep" or something the phone itself would make, it's coming across the "line" but again only I am hearing it.

May 28, 2010I set a tone when I first got the phone (created the media/notifications folder, put my mp3 in, selected it in the menu.) Well I added some more yesterday, went in a changed it to one of those, but it still played my old tone. I can be sat in a quiet room in the middle of an email or SMS conversation and when I check the display there is visual notification of a new message but the phone hasn't made a sound.Completely maddening. Nov 6, 2009I updated the Rom supplied by HTC for Hero's on the orange network. Since I've done the upgrade I can't change the default notification tone. My custom tones show up in the list, I can check to chose the tone but when I receive a text message I still get the 'Ascend' tone, can't even change it to any of the other standard tones that came already on the phone.

Sep 2, 2010I go to the settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks and didn't find any option to turn this off. Also looked everywhere in the sounds menu and nothing - am I missing something? There is an option in my EVO but I find nothing in the Epic 4G - inside our house we get poor reception (Airave here I come!), so the Epic connects regularly to a Verizon tower and that sound is driving me crazy!
