HTC Desire :: Cannot Change SMS Notification Tone
May 28, 2010I set a tone when I first got the phone (created the media/notifications folder, put my mp3 in, selected it in the menu.) Well I added some more yesterday, went in a changed it to one of those, but it still played my old tone. So I tried deleting the old tone and leaving just the one I wanted in there - now it doesn't play anything!

Nov 6, 2009I updated the Rom supplied by HTC for Hero's on the orange network. Since I've done the upgrade I can't change the default notification tone. My custom tones show up in the list, I can check to chose the tone but when I receive a text message I still get the 'Ascend' tone, can't even change it to any of the other standard tones that came already on the phone.

Jan 3, 2010Whenever I get a text message I always get a subtle little chime on my phone. But it is not the notification tone that I setup under "Settings". In fact, no matter what I select for a notification tone, I always get the same little chime. Isn't this configurable? If so, why will it not use the tone that I have designated for "Notifications"?

I have found that whenever the phone is charging, the phone is completely mute and will not ring. Likewise, any sms's will go unnoticed as no ring tones/ alerts sound. The phone still operates like normal while charging and will retrieve calls, it's just the phone stays completely silent

Oct 9, 2010I have had my Desire for just over a month now and still haven't worked out how to get the text message alert to repeat. I have my phone on silent/vibrate when I'm at work, and I have sometimes found that a text comes in while I'm away from my desk and I don't discover this until later. Or even when I've got the sound switched on I don't always notice it if I'm in a noisy environment, or maybe I don't feel the vibration in my pocket. My previous phones have always produced the alert tone/vibration every few minutes until I read the message. Can this be done with the Desire, and how?

Oct 9, 2010Whenever I receive a text message while on an active call, it plays the message tone at full volume - making it rather hard to hear the other person! Granted, this only happens occasionally ... but when it does it can be quite annoying. I've searched other threads and had a (what I consider to be ) a thorough look through the phones' settings, but I can't seem to find a way to stop it. Oct 15, 2010After i installed 2.2 on my desire sometimes the call beep (the one beeping when you wait for the other dude to answer) keeps on beeping even after the other person answers and even after the call ends and we both hang up. The beep continues till i turn off the phone and restart it again. One of my friends have this problem as well so i assume there are others out there with the same problem.

Oct 4, 2010Has everyone seen that you can change the LCD density on the Desire? (Well, on all Android handsets really). It simulates a higher resolution, fits more text on screen etc. There's an app on the market which does it, although it won't work on the Desire unless you're S-OFF. All you need to do is extract the build.prop file from /system to your PC (in recovery, use ADB PULL), and using a text editor change the value of LCD Density from original 240 to 200, then ADB push it back and reboot. I'm *really* pleased with the result. Combined with Launcher Pro I've a whole new feel to my phone...
