Is it possible to write data directly from my phone to my micro SD card? I got my Captivate a couple days ago, and I've been trying to research as much as I can about it, but I can't find this info. I know I can do it with a computer, but I don't have one. I want to put music and apps I download on the micro SD if possible.

Do you have to put music on the micro SD card or can you put it directly on the phone? Also, if I want to change to a custom ringtone, does that have to be stored on my micro SD card?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I boot up my phone, I'm getting this message: "Damaged Internal SD Card." Not a micro SD card. It's saying my internal SD card is damaged. Am I screwed? Do I need to return this thing? Is there a way to format the internal SD card on this thing? I found the "Format Card" option in settings. It's working fine, although the fact that this came up in the first place is very troublesome. Some further information: I did the GPS thing where you dial *#*# and some number, then rebooted my phone. My internal card was fine until I rebooted. That was the first time I got that message of a damaged internal sd card.

My internal memory has almost been used up though, and I think this has something to do with my text messages. I was wondering if there is a way to directly save them to my micro SD card, instead of the internal memory? One of my friends, who also had a Hero, had too many text messages and her message app wouldn't open and kept crashing. I don't really want this to happen to my phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having this problem since i updated to froyo JP2 package my external micro SD card when mounted to computer and i try to copy over the files it says it is write protected but there is no key to slide, as everybody knows micro sd cards donot have that feature by design. this is the best part when the same card no changes i put in to a cardreader hooked up to my laptop works perfectly fine. it was working fine before i flashed the JP2 firmware. what am i doing wrong i even formated the card in the phone itself but still no luck. My hunch is this when i flashed with new firmware i never took out the sd card and the sim card is that any reason, i know i can just flash it again but i already arranged everything nice on my galaxy so was wondering if it is then i will go ahead.

When I deleted my external SD card partition, it wouldn't let me re-partition it. Now my computer won't even recognize my phone. View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to be able to get Internet in a remote area. I barely get a signal now on the captivate, if I stand on my head and rub my tummy at the same time.
Since I don't think there's a way to add an external higher gain antenna to the Captivate, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck taking the SIM card out of the captivate and using it in a 3G USB device with any sort of an external antenna?
When I look at the settings and "SD card and phone storage" option I see the different types of storage. Based on what I see, please verify the following assumptions are correct. The external SD card is obviously the one I added. I assume it can be used to store media files (via USB, direct write on a PC, etc.). I read until Froyo we won't be able to install apps on this card.
The internal SD card is what is built into the phone for apps and other things those apps write to the phone.
Looks like Google Listen writes to this area (can't make it write to the external SD and not sure why). It appears that the only things writing to there are my camera and of course any music, pics, or videos I load on there directly. Nothing else seems to make use of it. The internal phone storage is for things like the OS and is pretty much off limits. When I go into the "My Files" app on the phone it dumps me into the home directory which happens to be /sdcard. I assume this is the internal SD card? Under that directory it also has "/sd" which appears to be my external SD card. Why would they make it look like "/sd" is a subdirectory of "/sdcard" when it's not?
I have the phone for about 2 weeks now, with 3-4 hours daily use. In the middle of a call this morning, it went silent and when turned on again, it displayed "SIM card removed. Reboot phone". I took the card out and put back in 3 times, but it still happens. Wi-Fi is working, phone is still running apps. I tried to press the SIM card tightly while trying to connect, but it's no good. A quick Google search does not show many people with this problem. Anyone has a quick solution before I call ATT or Samsung?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs I had a Nokia N85 laying around, containing a 8GB micro SDHC class 6 memory card, I was planning on using this on my desire, since that only came with a 4gb card. However, I formatted the 8GB card in windows, (to fat 32). (I've might have formatted the partitions and everything as well). But either the Desire or PC cant find my SD card at this point. When I put the 8gb card into my N85 and then connect the N85 to my PC, the computer finds it. My N85 has no problem locating the SD card either. What to I have to do to the SD card to be able to use it with my Desire?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a M919V Galaxy S4 which is compatible with both the i9505 roms and M919 (TMO) roms. I was on a i9505 TW rom and I decided to download a rom from the TMO section. When moving from a i9505 rom to a M919 rom, I had to flash the recovery corresponding to the model. So I downloaded the T-Mobile version of Philz Recovery, but I got a status 7 error. Then I downloaded the md5 version and flashed it via odin 3.07. It was successful. After flashing the recovery, I flashed Beanstalk rom for the t-mobile variant. Everything went fine until I tried to make a android of my current setup for Beanstalk. I kept getting errors. When I plug my phone in (with my sd card), and try to add or delete something, it say "remove write protection and try again". So I tried connecting my sd card to my sd card adapter. When I delete files from my adapter, the error message doesn't show up. BUT... after disconnecting and reconnecting it again, the files are back where they were. I tried reformatting it but nothing happens. It seems like my sd card is only read as write protected when connected to my phone but it has no idea which state it's in when connected to the sd card adapter.
