Sep 1, 2010Had my phone reboot today at 3:15 pm cst, and it being the first i was hoping that is was a gps update but it does not work any better. anyone else's captivate reboot today?

Sep 23, 2010If your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.

Sep 22, 2010The update did not fix GPS and did not improve Media Scan. It DID remove the PC Internet option. How does a complete newbe undo the update? I read that ODIN3 would restore factory settings; but, several people that used ODIN3 warned against using it unless there was no other option.

Oct 8, 2010I picked up my phone about two weeks ago and there was an update right away. I had no problen downloading it through the phone and it turned out to be 2.1.1. So a week later I wanted to check again, when I do it says connection failed or something similar. Now each time it does this I have to wait 24hrs befor I can retry. Tonight was the 4th try. I've attempted this from different locations both with good 3G signal.

I always have the screen set as low as it can go (I use quick settings) but now it appears darker then before.

Aug 29, 2010Haven't heard much lately regarding this topic, I hope people don't let Samsung off the hook. We need to keep the pressure applied until something is delivered. What bothers me the most is, if the Epic has the GPS fix, why not the rest of us? Goes to prove that the GPS issue might still be being worked on and Samsung/Sprint are just trying to calm fears.

Nov 7, 2010I recently got my Samsung Captivate and it works pretty well (even the GPS) however, when I try to update is (manually) it takes forever trying to connect to the server and in the end it never does (and thus I cannot connect for another twenty-four hours).So I said ok, i'll use Kies to update the phone, so I download Kies and try - however, the when I connect Kies says "The Device is not supported by Kies" and as such I cannot interact with my phone in this manner.

Oct 3, 2010Sorry if this has been answered, but I haven't found any many solutions through Google or this forum. The OTA update for the Samsung Captivate (that was supposed to fix the GPS and a couple other bugs) isn't working on my [rooted] phone. I am able to download it, but it says that the process failed after my phone restarts. Luckily, it doesn't brick my phone like it has done to some other people's phones. From what I can gather, it doesn't fail because the phone is rooted but because some of the stock AT&T apps have been removed. Is this the problem? If so, is there any place I can download those stock apps (AT&T Navigator, Where, Mobile Banking, etc.) and reload them onto my phone?

Currently my icon is an exclamation point and when i clicked on it it said something along the lines of "dm not available check sim card or network". I rebooted now i click on software update and can choose resume update but when i click on that is says no firmware. Does that mean there is not an update currently available for my phone or not? Nov 24, 2010I'm running JH7, and am having some issues. I'm just curious to anyone who has upgraded to leaked Froyo if any of these stupid problems have been fixed. I'm sorry if this is somewhere in a changelog thread, I couldn't find it!
1) Spontaneous shutdowns - Yeah... It's pretty effing annoying to wonder if my phone is gonna wake me up, or if I'll miss an important call because it decided to turn itself off.
2) Randomly changing voicemail/calendar notification tones - Just for fun, my phone decides to change the tone it will use. I'd like to be able to pick my calendar notification noises, too.
3) Emails double sending, and putting the same email address in the "to:" field 4-6 times - This one may need more explaining from me. Let me know if it does.
4) Calendar loses appointments - This one is awesome. I *may* have made the appointment in my phone so I wouldn't have to remember it on my own, but it's cool when meetings disappear. Unless it makes me look bad. And it does.
5) Exchange support sucks - Losing all my emails and the exchange account? Good stuff.
If the leaked version fixes any of these issues, I'm excited. If it fixes all of them, I'm ecstatic.

Nov 28, 2010A month ago I bought 2 Samsung captivates at the same time. Tonight while messing with the one I gave my Fiancee, I notice her Market was different from mine. Hers says it is version 1714, mine says 2002012.I couldn't find any thing on the web other than there are a few android phones, non samsung, that are also stuck at 1714, and that 2012 is the latest version.

Some apps tells you the stuff they are adding or improving but most don't. On some you can click on the developer's page n they will tell you. But there is a lot that you don't know what the updates are.Like the very popular Pandora radio app. I checked today and there was an update to 1.5 but there is nothing that tells me what the update is.I am new to android, maybe I am missing something but is there a way to see what the updates are before you download?
