Sideloading from mac without rooting?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my captivate, but have been lurking these forums for a while. After going through the screenshots thread I really like the HTC like clock widgets, but most of the ones posted I cannot find, or my captivate wont let me install them since they are not from the market. Are there any good ones in the market? and if not, what's an easy way to sideload? (I'm currently using retro clock in the meantime)
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhat's the quickest way to enable sideloading within the phone? (the proper way without using the Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine 1.0). Certain apps seem to want the actual phone to be sideloading-enabled like titanium backup and juicedefender.
I already rooted my machine using one lag fix which worked great. The simplest way to enable sideloading seems to be with "root explorer".
How To Enable Non-Market apps on Captivate (consolidated) - xda-developers
Has anyone tried that? I would try unleashthebeast but I'm scared to lose my at&t bloatware in case I need to go back to square one.
List of what they think are the best non market apps that are worth installing now that ive gone through the process of rooting and enabling side loading.
View 1 Replies View RelatedCan someone help me figure out why the apps from the market are not downloading? usually when I dl apps, it shows the status in the notification bar...now all of a sudden it doesn't.
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan anyone please give the list of good/popular apps that are not on regular android market for samsung captivate? I have installed angry birds and fennec alpha using side load wondermachine and app brain fast web installer. I would like to install some good apps that are not found in the market place.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen i d/l an app from AppPlanet it won't let me install the app because i don't have Non-Market enabled. I searched around and found there is an option in the Applications settings but i don't see that option on my rooted phone
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a theme from a website, and my phone said is was set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market. Can you only get apps from Android Market? Seems ridiculous.I've heard the term 'side loading'. Does that have to do with loading apps outside of Android Market?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a Captivate and upgraded to the leaked 2.2 update.Since I updated, gameloft apps(specifically Asphalt 5 HD) will no longer show up in the market.I have tried going to gameloft directly and even directly to the download page but it states that there is no such app.Again, I could find all gameloft apps before my update.I've also had other apps show up and when I click, the download page can't be found.is this because the apps are not compatible with 2.2?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm still learning a ton about the android OS and I have a dumb question. Are there apps the Android market that is made for a rooted phone only. Reason im asking is because I saw something on there but it looks like its made for a rooted phone only and I dont wanna risk screwing up my phone over it.

View 2 Replies View Relatedso on top of getting a free version of Quickoffice, we also now have Desk Home and Car Home for the captivate. The Desk home is much like the screen you see when the original Galaxy S was put in the Home station and car home looks very handy to see and works, of course, in both landscape and portrait mode.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn 3g the market dowloads for apps has been very slow, i recently reflashed back to stock, old stock. i dont know if it was like this before the flash or not. on wifi the downloads are normall.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there an app either pre-loaded on the Captivate, or one I can get from the Market, that will just show you where you are right away, without you having to enter a destination, and as you move around it will update your location, maybe with Street view or 3D or something? Maybe Navigation does this and I don't know how, but when I start Navigation it wants me to enter a destination.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently Upgraded my captivate to 2.2. all paid apps seemed to work and download just fine, And all the free apps i had i re downloaded without any problems. but when i went to download Reckless Racing again it will not let me install it.It downloads fine, And when it tries to download it. it gives me an error saying installation unsuccessful.I tried all the fixes relating to that problem like clearing cache on the market app via. settings > applications >
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was installing some apps from the market last night and all was going well until one application got stuck. The Market shows it as installing but nothing is happening. The Market still seems to function to load other apps but I have tried pulling the battery, cleaning the cache etc and no matter what I do when I go back to the downloads page the install on this app is still in progress. The Captivate is not rooted and I am not really keen on a hard reset as I have lots of apps and data. Any ideas from you pros out there?
View 1 Replies View RelatedA month ago I bought 2 Samsung captivates at the same time. Tonight while messing with the one I gave my Fiancee, I notice her Market was different from mine. Hers says it is version 1714, mine says 2002012.I couldn't find any thing on the web other than there are a few android phones, non samsung, that are also stuck at 1714, and that 2012 is the latest version.
View 21 Replies View RelatedOne thing that annoys me is when there is an update for an app in the market and I don't know what they are updating. Some apps tells you the stuff they are adding or improving but most don't. On some you can click on the developer's page n they will tell you. But there is a lot that you don't know what the updates are.Like the very popular Pandora radio app. I checked today and there was an update to 1.5 but there is nothing that tells me what the update is.I am new to android, maybe I am missing something but is there a way to see what the updates are before you download?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLately when I have been trying to download applications from the Market; I keep getting "download unsuccessful." I have not been able to make it work no matter what I do.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI get this when I try to load from Apk manager. I'm rooted and I have an older version of Market Access installed. I have Busy Box and SU installed. I'm not sure what the issue is.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong story short, I ended up removing all user data (including apps) from my phone. I went to the "Downloaded" category in my Market account, and downloaded some of them, but the rest I don't want. How do I get rid of those (all labeled "installed") without having to download and uninstall them manually?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I understand there are known issues with the Market getting stuck at "Starting Download" but here's my problem. I removed GoogleTalk which seems to be the route of the issue and now I can't seem to get it back. Also, ever since then I get the following error message upon booting: "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201008021101_com_google_process_gapp s.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log." I'd rather not have to factory reset since I'm already rooted and was just getting things the way I liked them.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy gmail app suddenly stopped working. i have background and auto sync on. contacts and calendar syncing without any issue. mail is the only problem. i uninstalled ADW launcher which i updated right before this problem and all related apps for that launcher from the phone. i rebooted the phone (several methods including holding down power and volume buttons down, power off and battery out) but the problem still persists. I am unable to see the gmail app in the android marketplace from my phone. Otherwise, i will uninstall the one in my phone and reinstall the same. Another crazy thing is..when i open manage applications under settings, i dont see gmail app there. i have to app on my tray but not found in the applications list.what is going on?
