Samsung Behold 2 :: Lost All My Apps On SD

Nov 26, 2010

I'm running warheads from bh_man first off. I just got apps2sd working tonight, but shortly afterward every app I tried to install would fail install with "installation unsuccessful". After an hour of searching, I decided to clear out the dalvik-cache. Well, I did this and I was able to install apps again. I installed two apps, and I kept getting a force-close on Titanium Backup -root version. I rebooted the phone (Behold 2), and now all of my apps are gone. I've got a bunch of default android boxes, and no working apps. I checked my sd card, and all of the .apk's are still there, but they aren't in the dalvik-cache folder anymore. What's strange is that some of the apps are there, like gstrings and quick system info, but the vast majority aren't, like handcent and beautiful widgets. I don't know what I did, but I'd really like to know how to get them all back. I tried installing handcent from the market, and it says that it can't install it on my phone, so I really need to get this fixed because I really don't want to start all over again.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Partial Contacts Available To Apps?

Mar 22, 2010

When I go to the default contacts from the home screen I can see all of my contacts, including a lot of duplicate entries where one person will have 2 contact cards, 1 with a plain phone number, and 1 with their number labeled "mobile" (... through research found that the plain-numbered versions are probably simcard saved contacts, which can only contain 1 number per contact)all the apps that use the contacts (ie. hancent) refuse to recognize contacts saved in the sim format, so when i get a text from these people it just comes up with their number. All my contacts look fine in Gmail on the web and I even did a "merge contacts" command on duplicates to try and solve the issue. Looks fine on the web but my phone still has all these dupes, any ideas?

Samsung Behold 2 :: Cant Use Stock Apps With Custom ROM ADB

Sep 9, 2010

I'm using Bearsfan85's custom ROM, but have lost the voice dialer app that was in the Samsung's touch wiz ROM. As this is helpful to avoid car accidents while on the road, I was hoping to get it back. I have the .apk file but ASTRO file manager won't let me install it. I've tried to adb push it but I get a "read-only file error". For whatever reason, the commands "adb remount" or "adb shell sysrw" aren't being recognized, which I think is what I need to do to adb push the voice dialer back onto my phone.Unless of course, the Samsung apps just aren't compatible anymore.

Samsung Behold 2 : Never Gotten An Apps Update Notice In The Notification Bar

Mar 2, 2010

You know what's odd. I've never gotten an apps update notice in the notification bar. When I'm using the MyTouch I get them all the time but never have I seen it with the Behold II.

I just assumed that it wasn't a feature with 1.5

Usually I just go to market and check my downloads to see what updates have come in. I wonder if this could be a reason why I haven't received the bug fix.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Cannot Load Any Apps Onto Phone / Not Enough Memory

Recently talked Tmobile into sending me a Slide, and letting me keep the BHII. Used one of BH Man's roms to take the BHII back to stock to get it ready for resale. Now, i cannot load any apps onto the phone because it says "not enough memory". Checking the memory settings shows 0 Maximum, 0 available. I've done a factory reset, i've reflashed the rom twice, still no memory.

Samsung Behold 2 :: Safe To Remove Stock Apps / Services For Speed Up

Apr 17, 2010

This thread is for speeding up android and improving battery life for Behold 2.I learned back in my days of ignorance(iphone days, lol) that by removing certain startup apps, services, and languages you can make the phone faster, and have better battery life, you can do same thing on android.Less services=more RAM,more CPU power, faster os,better battery. Updated Things you will need: Root and Root Explorer app or ADB,there is probably other apps you can use also.

With your Root Explorer or Astro navigate to /system/app folder, cut and paste any service or app that you don't need to a backup folder on sdcard. That way if you removed something that you might need later you can always put it back (NOTE:when you put back apps that you removed don't forget to set permissions, that's the reason i recommend using Root Explorer because other file managers to my knowledge wont let you set permissions on files)..................

Samsung Vibrant :: What If I Have More Than 2gb Of Apps And Games To Install?

Sep 1, 2010

The vibrant is advertised as 16gb internal memory, however after all of whatever is on the 16gb we're left with about 12.75 give or take of room left. Now i see that 2gb is apparently reserved for apps and the like, while the other is for music, movies, and so on. here is where my questions begin...

What if I have more than 2gb of apps and games to install? Will it not let me or will it partition more room? I think its kind of stupid to have a phone with this much internal memory and only let 2gb of it be for apps and games, that is absolutely stupid. I may consider activating my 14 day buyers remouse should this be the case. (and its not really 2gb, its 1.58gb)

I do plan on getting an 8gb+ class 4 or above microsd card, can i install apps to this WITHOUT rooting? or is rooting needed?I really, REALLY, hope im not screwed over with only 2gb of wiggle room for apps and games. that will definately put a halt on things.

I've just read this on android community.com.."When you say "only 2GB", this is plenty. Most apps are well under 5MB, so you can easily install 500 to 1000 apps on your phone.Android 2.2 is due out for these phones in September, which allows you to move apps onto the 14GB partition if you need/want to."Any truth to being able to move apps to the bigger partition? Becuase this would definately put my mind at ease.I also read that its not your choice if you can, the developer has to enable it in said application. so that it gives you a choice of where to save it, or you can move it at a later date.

I did notice, however, that Asphalt 5 was 8mb but required 103mb of additional data to be downloaded. i was worried it would save it to the whimpy 1.58gb of space but alas, it was smarter than that, and saved it on to the 12gb part. But if the option in all/certain apps is to save it to sd (or in the vibrants case, the 12gb partition sd space, or an external SD card) that would be HUGE.
