Nexus :: Keeps Randomly Rebooting
May 14, 2010I just got my Nexus One like an hour ago and it keeps randomly rebooting.
View 11 RepliesI just got my Nexus One like an hour ago and it keeps randomly rebooting.
View 11 RepliesSeems to be getting more frequent. At first it was just freezing and would sometimes return to a usable state while I was listening to music. In the past couple of days it has begun freezing completely when using gtalk or other messaging applications when I would go to enter text. Voice to Text hangs and then force close, but everything else freezes up. I hold down the power button and feel the vibration when the screen to choose what option comes up, but nothing on the screen changes. A minute later, it reboots. I haven't had to do a battery pull yet.
Droid is rooted and I have removed maybe 3 apps... I can't pinpoint an installation of something that maybe caused this to start. Anyone with similar issues? Any fix? Should I just try and swap it out? I have the newest update...
Here is my rebooting information:
Had a droid for 7 months and it was wonderful. Rebooting started one day after a few weeks of things getting slower, particularly messaging.
Rebooting continued randomly and the phone got generally slower, including internet speed.
Verizon sent replacement. Same rebooting.
Did a factory reset and didn't install any apps. Same rebooting.
Verizon sent another replacement. Same.
Removed SD card, same. Got new battery, same.
Verizon sent Eris. Used a different gmail account. Still rebooting.
My guess is that I'm getting refurbished phones with the same hardware issue that eventually developed in my new phone.
Here is the short version of the story:Stock EPE54B N1 -> Unlocked Bootloader -> Root -> Cyanogenmod 5.0.6 -> WTF?! STOP REBOOTING -> Stock EPE54B -> WTF!? STOP REBOOTING -> ?I have reinstalled the stock image, Froyo, Cyanogenmod, I've had to pull the battery numerous times because booting would often freeze at the X.There were points where it would just boot up, get to the lock screen, reboot, do this several times.I'm about ready to go back to the iPhone now. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around long enough in stock before installing Cyanogenmod to see if that is the cause of all my problems.another thing I thought about, is that I've had to pull the battery so many times that maybe I need to something equivalent to "fsck" on my phone.I haven't seen many people have so many issues with reboots as me, so maybe the phone itself is bad, but I have no idea how to check.
View 10 Replies View RelatedFor the past couple of days, my phone has been rebooting on it's own. I'm not so sure as to why.. Both times, it happened when I wasn't using it. I just happened to catch the white Motorola logo appear, and it's in the process of booting up. My droid is overclocked to 900mhz, but only 600 for standby/sleep. It's not overheating or anything.. so I don't know. Running Bugless Beast V1. I wonder if it has anything to do with signal loss? I don't usually have good signal in my apartment.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a very serious problem as I cannot reboot my galaxy nexus as i tried to update my phone to JELLY BEAN. I watched the tutorial video on how to install jelly bean on my phone on youtube. Furthermore, I downloaded this ROM ''CyanogenMod 9.0''
But unfortunately everything messed up and phone is not rebooting now.
P.S: I am noob in these stuffs
All programs on my phone recently seem to want to randomly end from time to time. All apps seem to be experiencing this issue, IE stock apps (SMS, Browser) and a variety of apps from the market. It's happened before and after the 2/2 OTA, and obviously a restart did not fix this issue.
This doesn't seem to discriminate if other apps are running. I've had this happen on the SMS app with the stock KB, shortly after a restart without anything else running.
My Nexus One exhibits a very strange and annoying behavior at home.It will sporadically disconnect from my home Wi-Fi and will not automatically reconnect. However, if I go into the settings and choose to manually reconnect it will do it 100% of the time.I have the settings on the Nexus One set to never put the wi-fi to sleep so there is no reason that it should be disconnecting.Has anyone else had an issue like this? Anyone have any advice on solving this problem?I am using a fairly old linksys router WRT54G but I have never had any problems maintaining connections with any of my other devices including laptops, Wii's and iphones so it seems like it must be an issue with the Nexus One.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Android 2.2 on my Nexus One. Applications like Fring, Qik, Slot Machine, Amazon MP3, Shop Savvy, Battery Time Lite, and Settings Profiles Full are opening at random. I'm use the "kill all" widget from Advanced Task Manager every time I put away my phone, but they randomly open. I don't use my phone too much throughout the day, but my battery is close to 50% by the end of the day. It is not a battery problem, however this is my second battery. (I got my first one replaced) My phone is not rooted.

Today my phone rang and the ring tone was a Bob Segar song. I had not set the song as a ring tone so I was a bit perplexed by it.
Later, my Wife called me and the ring tone was "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen which is also not a song that I had set as a ring tone.
Yesterday I was receiving voice mails despite the phone never ringing.
I was wondering if this is one of the bugs in 2.2.1 or is this just a problem on my phone.
My phone just quit receiving Gmail yesterday. I just thought it was a little quiet, but when I went to my inbox and did a manual refresh, I had 16 messages.
I had been in and out of 3G coverage all day and on Wi-Fi networks 5 times...
I unchecked the "sync" icon on the settings widget, and it seems to be working OK now, but this hasn't ever happened on any of my other Android devices.
A song can be playing then just stop. I have to hit the Play button again. It can continue for quite a while across multiple songs, or just stop again in 15 seconds, or 30 seconds, or 5 minutes, or ... Again and again. Needless to say, I want to throw it across the room when this happens right in the middle of an intense set of reps at the gym.
I'm not streaming, the music is loaded onto my phone. It happens at random points on random songs - the same song can play fine all the way through today, and not tomorrow. I'm using corded earbuds, but I don't think it's hardware as I've been sitting in a single position not moving (mid-strertch) with the phone on a separate, stable platform and it's just ... stopped. I've rebooted. I've removed and reinstalled Play Music.
I'm running a Nexus 4/KitKat on Telus. But from what I've googles, this problem isn't unique to the Nexus - but no one has found a solution.
Had this problem before loading Kit Kat but it seemed to have "mostly" gone away then come back again with KitKat. "Typically", but not always, music plays for a while but then once it stops the first time it just keeps it up.
About a day ago my phone starts rebooting on its own randomly while i am not even using it. Once rebooted 6x in 1 1/2 hrs.

ROM = LFYv1.4
Theme = WatermarkD3.3LFY1.4a
Kernel = ChevyNo1-1.1Ghz-lowV-7slot-update (originally i had it @ ulow. but that kept rebooting more often)
just got off the phone with a senior tech support at Verizon regarding my phone rebooting randomly. He told me that they are aware of this to be happening in certain area and they should have an update to resolve this.
this is a replacement phone cause my first phone did this, and so I called again cause of this problem but this time they instructed me to wait it out until the fix which should be within a week (as he says).....
I don't know if many are having this problem....but I just wanted to let those that are having this problem to wait it out and see.....
I haven't been able to put my screen protector on cause I didn't know if I had to replace the phone or not.....so being extra careful.
phone keeps rebooting, possible fix is disabling Verizon Backup Assistant. if i go into running processes and stop this app it appears the rebooting stops, but if the phone is reset it does not stay disabled i have to go back in and stop it again. can this be done? i dont like to use app killers but will it work?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince we got the phones mine has been fine and my wife has had nothing but trouble. Her phone reboots all the time and freezes. We finally went to the Sprint store Friday and they determined hers was bad and sent her a new(refurb). We received it last night. We activate the new one and this one is worse. She has had it reboot 3 times today alone. It also keeps freezing on her.
Another strange issue the new phone is having is when she clicks on an email in the Gmail app the screen flashes like it is going to open the email and it just goes right back to the inbox.
Did she get 2 bad phones ? Now we have to go back to the Sprint store again. She also only receives one out of every three of my text messages.
my device s Duos 7562, it was working well but now it keep rebooting till samsung logo then restart again...again ..... again.... it keep restarting till removing battery, i know i can make system restore (home+power+volum) but i need to restore my data, no any way to repair it without deleting my data? and be mentioned that my device is unrooted

View 1 Replies View RelatedRight, as of yesterday my rebooting problem seems to have become terminal. It won't boot beyond the red circle, and although it will load into the bootloader it won't go into recovery after that. Now obviously I'll be sending back for repair but what are the chances (given that it won't boot at all now) that they'll know the phone has been rooted and refuse to fix it?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI had another thread, but my Inc has been having the rebooting problem. I have a network extender, but it apparently doesn't help the Inc until you're in a call. Now, my dad has the same phone and his has never rebooted. He went to an area where he knew there was no signal and had no reboots. He's in the 300+ consecutive hours without it rebooting. I went home over the weekend and had no reboots. I took my phone to an area with no signal and had no reboots, even though I was there for a few hours with no signal.
So it can't just be a low signal thing. It has to be a tower thing. Tomorrow I'm going to the verizon store that has a tech to talk to them about it. If they can't help, I'm calling verizon to talk to someone. There is no other answer as to what's causing reboots than a tower problem. So they should be able to look at whatever tower my town is using and see what's not up to date/not like every other tower my phone has used and it should be fixable.
So hopefully tomorrow, I may have an answer as to what my tower's problem is causing the error and maybe Verizon will take that as proof and start doing something about it. Or at the very least, I can give you guys the information and you can make verizon verify if your tower is using that or not. For example, if they tell me my tower is update x, but the towers in neighboring towns are all y, then clearly update x has a problem with the Inc and you guys could get verizon to verify if your towers are x or y. Because I'll gladly put in as much effort as I can seeing as how I have proof, including pictures, that it's a tower problem.
This is my first post but I have been lurking around these forums for some time. Well lately I have been having problem with my Droid. It just keeps shutting itself off. Any ideas ppl?

If I leave it as it is without entering my PIN it popups messages for broken apps that failed to start.I decided to do the wipe user data (panic) from recovery console, but now after reboot I can only see the flashing word ANDROID on a black background.I was using the OTA stock rom but rooted with unrevoked 3.21. I used the framework apk from /system/ at UOT kitchen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI let my battery run down and then while charging I tried to turn the phone back on but it kept going from the white HTC screen to the black VZW screen and back. I tried a battery pull but it continued to do it, even while plugged in. I did another battery pull and now it is charging.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTrying to root my moto droid, following all instructions in the "The All-new Guide to All Things Root-related" thread. However it seems I've found myself a problem that isn't described anywhere i can find. Upon opening RSD and rebooting into the bootloader my computer (Windows XP pro 32 bit) says that its found new hardware: "SE Flash OMAP3430 MI". I've already installed the provided 32 bit drivers for my droid, but it seems the bootloader itself requires its own set of drivers. Tried showing the found new hardware wizard where the droid drivers where located, would not accept them. Also tried the search the internet option, again no luck. Something's clearly amiss...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been getting random reboots ever since I updated to froyo. It's been happening since the first nandroid backup, the nexfro, and Pete's Bugless Beast
The phone works completly fine and fast but it will just reboot out of nowhere.
It doesn't happen on the charger
If I restore to one of my 2.1 roms it doesn't do it
It even happens while i'm on a phone call
It doesn't seem to have a pattern of when it happens it seems really random
