HTC Desire :: Keep Rebooting After Installing UOT Kitchen
Nov 14, 2010
I installed the zip that created by UOT kitchen, using recovery. Now After entering PIN it reboots. If I leave it as it is without entering my PIN it popups messages for broken apps that failed to start.I decided to do the wipe user data (panic) from recovery console, but now after reboot I can only see the flashing word ANDROID on a black background.I was using the OTA stock rom but rooted with unrevoked 3.21. I used the framework apk from /system/ at UOT kitchen.

I followed the guide on this website to update my HTC One V to Android 4.2.1: URL.....
I did everything exactly as the website said but now my phone keeps rebooting!.If it is connected to the PC it keeps rebboting after the HTC logo and if it is not connected to PC it is simply stuck at the HTC logo screen -s13(dot)postimage(dot)org/6hy5sfs2f/IMG_20120530_193934_1(dot)jpg
I am so paranoid, this is the first time i've tried rooting or flashing a ROM,is there any way to stop this?

As titled, I installed the leaked OTA tonight for the 720p recorder, boot animation, etc.It did reboot 3 times initially right after the update but I was expecting that.I waited about 30 minutes for good measure and then restored all of my apps and data with Titanium. Ever since then my phone has been rebooting itself for no reason. I have noticed that it does it more when I am launching certain programs. For a while it was just rebooting one right after the other and the home screen never came available, it just had a Loading... notification. Once it finally did load the home screen it looked like the Weatherbug was struggling to load and as soon as I click on it, the phone shuts off.I uninstalled the app and it hasn't been rebooting as much but for a phone that has never ever had one problem I'm kind of inconvenienced by this.

Right, as of yesterday my rebooting problem seems to have become terminal. It won't boot beyond the red circle, and although it will load into the bootloader it won't go into recovery after that. Now obviously I'll be sending back for repair but what are the chances (given that it won't boot at all now) that they'll know the phone has been rooted and refuse to fix it?

I have an unbranded unaltered HTC Desire Android Version 2.2 baseband Version 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20 Kernel Version 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1 Build number 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys Software number 2.09.405.8 Where do I start, bought it from CPW in May, no issues, no problems no reboots. Upgraded to Froyo last week and its doing my head in. I use the Google Navigation a lot, problem is now it keeps rebooting. Today I entered an address and it gained then lost GPS reception, took ages to get it back, then when it did it only lasted a few minutes then rebooted the Desire. I restarted navigation and it may pick up GPS then few seconds later reboot itself again, drove me nuts, to the point where I gave up and used OVI maps on my Nokia. On the way home 120 mile journey, entered the address and navigation was ok for about 20 minutes then it kept rebooting. Occasionally it would navigate for a couple of minutes then reboot itself, this again drove me nuts.
I then tried to eliminate possibilities and drove 1 hour with the Desire and Google maps on, but not navigating i.e just showing my movement on the road, I kept scrolling the screen to make sure the arrow was always shown, it worked faultless, no reboots data was downloading ok to form the route maps. I then put the navigation back on, and low and behold started rebooting and loosing GPS reception. This is driving me mad, as I need the navigation, everything else works ok with no issues. Is anyone else having any problems? HTC deny there is any known faults on the Desire, I am not going to put up with this, it is not fit for purpose. I think it must be software not hardware, but I am not sure, any help advice gratefully received.

I took my phone out of sleep mode to respond to a text message, only to find I couldn't get the keyboard into landscape mode. I then found that the trackball wasn't working, and the phone seemed as if it was moving through puddy. When I tried putting it to sleep, the screen would dim but not go black. I eventually had to remove the battery to resolve the issue. The next day, the same thing happened.
Both times, the issue happened at around 8 o'clock. I thought thru what apps I had downloaded recently, and looked through Astrid To-Do. I found it had scheduled back-ups at 8 o'clock. I turned that off, hoping that it would fix my problems. The next day, at 8 o'clock, my phone randomly restarted. That was all. No overheating, no hanging, and it booted up just fine. The next day, it rebooted again, but I don't know if it was around 8 o'clock. Today, just about an hour ago at 2:30, it rebooted again, with no overheating or any other problems.
I'm at a loss about what could be causing this. I uninstalled Astrid To-Do app completely now, but I'll have to wait to make sure that fixed anything. I have about 7 days left before my 30 day return policy kicks in, but I moved to Boston from Iowa to go to college, and I would have to mail it back, which I would prefer not to do (cost and time without a phone being the major issues).
I'm running:
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband version 2.05.10.06.29
Kernel version 2.6.29-e9066436

Anyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts. So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing. However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself. Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

If it is possible to have root on my current Desire ROM (T-Mobile branded 2.1 update1, Build 1.21.110.4 CL175581 release keys, bootloader 0.80) without having to wipe the phone and install another ROM?
The reason that I ask is that I have read a few reviews about Titanium Backup as that would back up all apps and settings and make my life a lot easier if I decide to debrand and install the stock 2.2 ROM as everything can be reinstalled in a 1 click process. Its the data (email accounts in k9 mail etc) that I am ideally needing saved as those are a pain in the arse to setup again. If root on the current rom cannot be done is there any other app that would save my data as I can save the apks using Astro.

I am having trouble installing a CA certificate on my Desire which I need to get access to my company's IPSec VPN.I understand the proper way to do this is to pack user certificate, user key and CA certificate into a single PKCS12 file, put it on the SD card and use the built-in certificate installation tool to unpack and install the certificates.I have my user cert and key packed into a single PEM file and the CA in a separate CRT file. However, when installing the p12 file on the Desire from the SD card, it only installs the user cert and key, ignoring the CA certificate. Thus, I can't set up an IPSec VPN.I also tried putting the CA crt file on a web site and installing it using the browser, but the browser thinks is is a user certificate rather than a CA cert and installs it as such. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Did anyone even manage to get this to work? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I already mailed HTC support a few days ago, but didn't get an answer do far.

I have a 16GB card I want to use to replace the included card, and am curious to know if any fancy preparation is needed. Can I just copy over the original's folder structure and contents and start using the extra space, or is something else necessary to avoid having strange things happening with my installed apps?

How to Install/Upgrade Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC Desire | Pathik Shah
Specifically:
How to Install Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC Desire
How to Upgrade HTC Desire to Android 2.2 Froyo
To install Android 2.2 Froyo on your HTC Desire, you can either use the official OTA update or a custom Froyo ROM.
Official Android 2.2 Froyo ROM Install (Recommended)
Download the official Android 2.2 Froyo HTC Desire ROM from HTC
Rename it to update.zip and copy it to your SD card via USB.
Switch off your phone and while holding the Volume Down button, power it back on.
Enter the recovery mode and press the Power button and the Volume Up button.
Select Apply sdcard:update.zip
Your Android 2.2 install should soon be complete and you can reboot your HTC Desire.
My question is...has anyone tried this? If so, has it worked? Do the gurus think this can work? PLEASE let me know...as I'd like to upgrade my phone using this if its safe!

I've one doubt in uot, If I'm applying a mod like status bar mod, do I need to configure every thing or only what I want to change?
For example I just want to make my status bar transparent, so do I need to configure other things like notifications, topbar etc. too along with status bar?
"What I want to know is if uot creates a new mod and replaces it in the uploaded files or does it changes specific things in the files I provided?"

I finally got my 32gb from play.com through the post. Now after reading again froyo saves the app on the sd card but saves the extra user data etc I think on internal memory so what's the point in that? Now I'm just thinking of going all the way once and for all. At the moment I am running the standard 4gb card on my unbranded o2 with the devillian rom, but I found this rom freezes sometimes abit, like windows, you click on something it freezes then a couple seconds later comes back to life plus the flash player and browser seems to be worse than stock. So I'm moving away from this one. Open for recommendations, but I'm leaning towards the one lekky is using (defrost?) as I think that is known to be well.Instead of doing it myself and going awol searching on the interwebs, jumping on the ever stressful rooting/rom merry go round and crawling into a fetal position rocking back and forth when things don't go to plan I thought I should post on here first and listen to your recommendations.

The site says to use HTC Sync which sounds easy on the HTC website but then says it's only available for Wildfire, not my Desire. Is there any easy way to get these apps that are apk files onto my phone?Sorry if this is a dumb question, but am only really now getting to grips with what this little thing can do and boy am I impressed! Actually jumped for joy when my google calender and phone synched together without me doing ANYTHING!

yesterday i rooted my desire but i have no interest in installing a custom rom. all i want to install is apps2sd or apps2sd +i have read many guides but most of them conflict each other.if i was to follow these steps what would be wiped from the phone.
Using the optical trackpad select Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset
After this has completed do Wipe > Wipe cache
Again, once this has completed do Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache.
I understand that the sd card gets wiped and that is not a problem, i'm more worried what gets wiped from the phone memory (not worried about installed apps) also can i do the ext3/4 from the phone as i only have windows 7.

In a word, this combo is *awesome*. Very easy to install once I figured out the .NET issue with my windows pc (just needed to update the .NET stuff, @ windowsupdate.com, pretty easy), and very easy to use, though it sure would be nice if the "Kitchen Tutorial" section of geekforme.com was completed. I'm a clicker and tweaker by nature and I knew I couldn't screw up too badly (just flash it back to stock and start over if things turn sour) so away I went. There really is no need to fear with this (pre) Kitchen set up.The auto-root was FAST and very easy. Pulling unwanted applications and pushing files to the device, also simple. Even swapping the theme and lock screen was pretty easy. A good, solid tutorial on the site (which I understand is in progress) would have helped, but there are good people in this and other forums who are happy to help if one gets stuck.
I had rooted my phone previously and removed many stock applications, so I did not notice as large of a performance jump that most do coming from a stock device, but it seems a bit snappier, post Fresh.I have noticed that my battery seems to be draining quicker post Fresh. I charged fully before bed, placed the phone in Airplane Mode and set it on the table. When I woke up this morning, the device had dropped to 50% in 6-7 hours of no use. I don't recall seeing any threads talking about speedy drain post root/fresh, so I'm looking into it. There are no apps installed that I didn't have on the phone before I noticed faster battery drain, save for those installed with Fresh.I'd say it was due to me playing with it more, but I was sleeping... Unless I'm fiddling with it in my sleep... The phone shows an up time of 8hr 27min with an awake percentage of 81%. It seems I've missed something that's keeping the phone awake. Suggestions?

Andrizoids_Deodex_Kitchen_V4
What started as a simple script to help me deodex a single file has turned into a full fledged project.
This is the first ever all in one deodex kitchen for linux.
V3 now does EVERYTHING for you, all you need to do is change the paths and choose your rom!
Make sure to read the README file first!
Bugs
These files will not deodex in the Plain Jane Rom, when trying you get an error about superclasspaths or something.
-Bluetooth.odex
-HtcFootprints..odex
-HtcLocationPicker.odex
-htcmsgwidgets.odex
-Settings.odex
-com.htc.resources.jar
Extract to your desktop, then check out the README file for full instructions.
Changelog
V4
Fixed some of the code, added the optional make-rom.sh which adds the freshly de-odexed files to the original rom and signs it making it ready to flash.
V3
Everything is fully automated, and will deodex the whole rom rather than one file at a time. Smali and Baksmali version updated to 1.2.3
V2
Added setup.sh to make things easier.
V1
Original script.
