Nexus :: Parental Controls Like Locking Down App Store / Apps For This?
Jun 20, 2010I've looked through the settings on my n1 but can't see any mention of parental controls like locking down the app store?
Are there any good apps for this?

I have CM10.1 20130210 on my phone. (Had 20130208 when I noticed the problem, But I dont think thats the cause). I normally check for CM updates & Play Store every night. Yesterday I wanted to check the Play Store but when I opened it it took me straight to the Categories page (It normally takes me to some "General Featured" page).
When I go into any of the categories it takes me to another categories menu (Example: Games>Racing/Puzzle/Action/Etc.) then if I enter any of those it just takes me to a grey screen, As if there were no apps.
I tried going into My Apps & Its blank. If I go into the All tab though they all show, Clicking on one of those apps does take me to its page & If I try to download a previously uninstalled app it does download and work properly.
Something very weird: The same thing happens in the Webstore, No app shows when going into Editor's Choice & When manually going into the categories its just blank. Going into app pages via my own apps do work.
I've tried clearing the data of the Play Store (Settings>Apps>All>Google Play Store>Clear Data)
I've tried reflashing my phone (Thats why I went from 20130208 to 20130210)
I've tried Force Stopping, Clearing data & Rebooting
I've tried unsyncing & Resyncing my Google Account
I've tried uninstalling & Reinstalling Gapps (goo.im/gapps)
I've tried unsyncing account, Force stopping & Wiping Google Play Services, Store & Services Framework. Then uninstalling them & Reinstalling. Resyncing Google account & Going back in. Still nothing. (At this point Im pissed)
I've tried changing the DPI from 320 (Default) to 220, 200, 300, Etc. Nothing...
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, rooted and running AOKP build 38. There are several key apps that show as "not compatible with my device" in the Google Play Store. What causes this? I've been running these apps forever and all different roms. Apps like HD Widgets and Adobe Flash Player are a couple that are doing this. Is there a way to fix this or is it a per-ROM problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I flashed a vanilla 4.2.2 ROM to my Nexus 4 and restored the Titanium backup to it. Today I realized that when I get apps from the Play Store website, they never get downloaded to the device. Downloading via Play Store app works fine. I followed these suggestions but nothing worked: [URL] .....
View 6 Replies View RelatedSince my Nexus 7 updated to 4.4 I have noticed that whatever I am watching on Netflix (for example) instead of creating a small square on the lockscreen with play/pause (like in 4.3) now fills the entire screen, looks distorted and the play/pause does not always display properly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a Nexus 4 recently and I have retired my HTC Desire Z (G2).
Since I have a 32GB MicroSD card in my Desire Z I want to use it as a MP3 player in my car.
I have it plugged in via aux and power. I have installed tasker and created Profiles to start and stop music when I turn on/off my car.
So everything is great until I want to skip the song. Any way to control the music playing on my Desire Z from my Nexus 4?
Is there a way to lock the apps and widgets on the home screen and dock from moving if pressed like on jelly bean 4.3?

Does anyone know if there are any apps that will allow an Unrooted phone to backup apps and not have to redownload them from the store?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got an Android phone for my son. Is there any way to set up parental restrictions on the phone so he doesn't have full access to everything on the browser? I have hidden the browser icon, but that's not going to work very long. He's not very computer/tech savvy, but his friends will show him. His iPod Touch has restriction settings, so wondering if Android has anything like it. I've searched this forum and the net and haven't found anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I try to download an app from the Play Store on a browser, my Nexus 4 says "[app name] could not be downloaded due to an error (906)". However, I can download the app directly from the Play Store on my phone. So, how would I go about resolving this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently spotted my 9 year old son searching for inappropriate stuff inside the Google Chrome app. Is it possible to restrict the browser so that when he googles certain words, it wouldn't bring out any results? I've seen programs that do that but I can't recall any of them. Oh, and he's using the original Nexus 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my update for my Nexus today. Unfortunately I made the grave mistake of leaving my Helix 2 app as my main launcher, so I was stuck in an endless loop of force closing. After restoring my phone to factory defaults I was able to set up my gmail account as I did when I first set up the phone.now that I'm going into the market, I'm noticing a LOT of apps that I had before (most of them paid) are not even listed in the app store. I'm also noticing that the Helix apps are not listed either. It would appear that non 2.2 compatible apps are not being listed? I have no idea, but whatever it is, I hope I get my touchdown full version app back soon, otherwise I'll be in a rough spot with work. (not a huge fan of the regular mail).Example, I did a search for the developer "Camel Games" I recently purchased one of these games, however, when I do a search now, I ONLY see all the free version, and no paid versions. If anyone has any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone is not seeing the same thing as me, that would be helpful too. If I need to reset my phone again or something, let me know! I miss my apps

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've heard about the 256 mb internal storage, and it sounds like it may limit... how many apps do you all have, and what are the sizes? has anybody gone over the limit yet? What are they doing to fix this problem, or is it not meant to be fixed? These are very important questions, so I can decide whether to invest in the Droid or something else (probably still android os but not sure if it's an android problem)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've seen several people make mention of missing apps in the app store in various other threads (someone mentioned PayPal for instance). These are all people who got the phone early. In another post I found the following regarding using the apk to install Google Earth. So this could an alternative if you are not able to find a certain app in the market. Doing this is dependant on the apk being available for the particular app you wish to install (dependant on the maker of the application making the apk available for download):

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use my google account on 2 devices: galaxy s3 and nexus 10 tab.i recently flashed on my s3 a paranoid rom. there, i was asked to sign in to my google account (like always when u set up a phone) but then it downloaded automatically all apps i had on my phone before (under play store ALL) and id also knew, which apps i just use on my tablet and did not install those! know, i finally found which rom i prefer to use from now on (cyanomod).
How to force playstore to restore the device like id happend on the other rom? and NO, have no other backups of my app, and the app data is not importent, i just dont want to download all apps manually.
Sometimes my dad grounds me from using some of my chat apps that i use to talk to all of my friends. He always checks the Google Play Store on my phone and looks under My Apps and then All so he can see if i've downloaded one of them. If i download it from the play store it will show up here, even if i've already deleted it. I used to be able to get around this by downloading the .apk file for the app from another website, and not from the play store. That way it wouldn't show up in the My Apps section. But the other day i did this and the app still showed up in the My Apps part of the play store, even though i didn't download it from there.
Is another way to download an app so it doesn't show up after i delete it?

Anyone else have an issue with the camera "store location" not getting the correct GPS (if at all)? I just noticed that I was taking pics and saw that the GPS location was from the last place I had used the GPS some 50 miles away (time stamp too). it wasn't the only one.
just wanting to know if I'm going crazy, I don't see this being on the support forums so I'm also asking there too.
oh, and yes I was out doors, opening up maps will update gps and then camera will be accurate.
