I recently spotted my 9 year old son searching for inappropriate stuff inside the Google Chrome app. Is it possible to restrict the browser so that when he googles certain words, it wouldn't bring out any results? I've seen programs that do that but I can't recall any of them. Oh, and he's using the original Nexus 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have motorola defy running CM10, and I can sync chrome bookmarks using chrome for android. But the app is a bit laggy on defy, so I am using stock android browser and here is a method to sync bookmark between chrome browsers and android browser:

In your android Smartphone go to Settings -> Apps -> All -> browser and Clear data. Now go to Settings -> Accounts & sync. You will be able to see Sync browser is working fine now. Open the browser and go to Bookmarks. Now you can see all the Bookmarks that you have in desktop browser in your Android Smartphone browser as well.
Is there another menu that can be accessed in the newly released chrome browser where things like default zoom or user agent can be set? I have tried lots of about:* things and chrome://flags and such to no avail.

I click a video from say, 9news.com. The video plays in landscape mode with the PLAY button and slider for video time progress.
BUT, when the play button and slider disappears, so does the video. There is sound, but no video.
I cleared my defaults buts the only option after clicking the video to play is:

I use the Volume Rocker scroll function in the labs settings of Dolphin Browser. Is there a way to get this in Chrome?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe best feature of ICS? Google is going to make the Chrome Browser the standard browser on Ice Cream Sandwich. It's going to have a different interface obviously but it's going to be indistinguishable from the desktop browser as a user agent.
That means Hulu, ABC.com, Fox.com are all going to be usable on the Google TV, Android tablets and ICS phones!
My concern as a parent now is the internet safety and security. Any good applications for parental control on Android.

I'm writing wondering why if this is a Google phone why doesn't Google and htc implement Google chrome web browser in the phone i mean come on there's opera mini browser in there. I'm not saying anything bad about opera thats other people vote on good or bad but why not have Google chrome in a Google phone?? when Apple makes a device the use what they make ( I'm a huge apple user I work for them ) notice i didn't use the word "fan"?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis little web page runs fine on my desktop but when selecting the area with a G-1 Android device (select box that says statewide..) the data refreshed with the requested data in the table but the text in the select box does not change,,, the other select boxes (month and year) work fine.. Fwiw the data is still rough and so is the gadget...
I've rebooted and restarted the g-1 to no avail..

The broader question, i guess, here is how to debug a web page on any android browser? we don't have a firebug equivalent..
Further I confirmed the same bug in the Moto Cliq browser (also old still a 1.5) very strange every once in a while the G-1 operates correctly, but I can't figure out how to get it to do it, just that every once in a while the select shows in the window when selected and the data refreshes..
I have verified that this seems to be a verified bug in the early browsers... so now I'm trying to figure a work around, I added setFocus on the select box but it is ignored on the Android G-1

I have three select boxes on the app so I need to display the selected info...as the selection is served.. not just initialization. FWIW the behavior seems to be on select boxes that have the selection dynamically loaded,, when I finish all three boxes will need dynamic loading now only the area box is dynamic, year/month are coded and so work.
It is a big gap currently IMO, especially when you see how well it works on Safari/iOS.
View 4 Replies View Relatednormally I have sync turned off to prolong battery life but it also removes the capability to see the desktop bookmarks while in Android's Chrome browser. I thought the bookmarks were stored locally and then synced back when sync turned on.
To see desktop bookmarks I have to flip the sync on do my thing and then flip it back off when I'm done browsing.
Is it still not possible to sync bookmarks from google chrome (pc) browser and another browser on the htc ?
I know it is possible to sync opera desktop version with mobile version but it does not open a few pages correctly on some of the sites i use and i am not too keen on the pc version of opera, its trying to do too much.
Surely i would have thought googles own browser should be able to sync with google mobile browser.
I just got a new AT&T Radiant (aka ZTE Z740). I had it for a few days while I waited for a SIM card to come in the mail, installed one app, and just got a feel for how it worked on wifi. (I've never had an Android or any smart phone before). Last night after activating the phone and setting up the data connection with Consumer Cellular, I noticed that the Chrome browser icon was missing from the app tray. I don't know exactly when that happened, but it was possibly related to the data setup process.
I've searched Google and the forums here and haven't come up with a solution. I've seen suggestions for unhiding icons, but I don't seem to have the option to hide/unhide icons, or at least I'm not finding it (if I hit the menu button from the app drawer, I just get 'manage apps' and 'system settings').
I also a suggestion to look at the disabled apps list, but the 'manage apps' function doesn't indicate that Chrome is disabled. It is still there - I don't think it can be uninstalled.
I'm not sure what else to do. Is factory reset the next step? Not looking forward to setting up the data connection again (I guess I would need to go through all the settings and write them down, unless there is a way to back them up).
i have a galaxy note 3 since a few days and I have some questions regarding this device or Android in general.
First, I am wondering about how to change the download folder of the chrome browser. I can't find the option to change it.
Second, I'm a bit confused about two sd cards shown in my "es datei explorer". There is a "sd card" and a "extsd card" which I suppose to be the real card. What's the first one?

I just got an Android phone for my son. Is there any way to set up parental restrictions on the phone so he doesn't have full access to everything on the browser? I have hidden the browser icon, but that's not going to work very long. He's not very computer/tech savvy, but his friends will show him. His iPod Touch has restriction settings, so wondering if Android has anything like it. I've searched this forum and the net and haven't found anything.

The bookmarks on my Nexus in Chrome haven't sync'd up to the server yet and contain all the bookmarks I've lost. I'm looking for a way to extract them from my phone and try to port them back to my desktop.
I'm running stock ICS, but I am unlocked and rooted.
I also have a Titanium Backup that should hopefully also contain a valid back up of the data.
I'd like to know how to access my Google Bookmarks via Chrome for my Android. In Chrome (Android), I made sure sync was enabled for my Google account and bookmarks is checked. However, when I open the bookmarks on Chrome (Android), nothing appears. If it's worth anything, these bookmarks were added in Firefox, but again these are Google Bookmarks, not saved locally in Firefox.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have three root folders in Chrome for Android: Other, Desktop, and Mobile Bookmarks. "Other" and "Desktop" sync to Chrome's desktop counterpart. But, how does one get the Mobile Bookmarks folder to sync, which incidentally is the default folder opened in the browser? Presumably, this is the folder that you would most likely want to have synced, no?
And, for those bookmarks I have indeed saved on the device to the "Mobile Bookmarks" folder, I can't for the life of me figure out how to sort them. Yet, the other two seemingly less important root folders can be sorted with a simple automatic sync using the desktop Chrome version.
