Nexus :: No More Notification Sound After Froyo
Aug 2, 2010
Ever since i manually updated to FRF50, ive never heard anymore phone notification sound whenever i boot up, shut down, or plug into USB. It always does that back in android 2.1. But i have never heard it since i got froyo. Is it supposed to be like this?

since I updated to 2.2 last night when I am on the phone I receive a text message and it plays my ringtone even while I'm on the phone. Before the update the notification would just pop out without any sound (which is fine and what I'd prefer). Has anyone noticed this, or is aware of a fix? All I can do at this point is make sure my phone is on vibrate before I'm on the phone. BTW the sound stops after I touch the notification like normal it's just annoying for it to play at all while on the phone.

I unlock my phone, I get a default notification sound. Sometimes, just randomly while messing with an app, I get the mystery notification sound. No emails, no texts, no notification bar items just <insert mystery notification sound here> somewhat randomly. It's not any app i recently downloaded either (=, I'm a bit more savy then that just want to see if someone else noticed this with the 2.2 OTA Leak.It doesn't do it while the screen is off

When I get a notification, like an email or text, I want the phone to vibrate for like 15 seconds in like pulses of 3. It will vibrate a fair amount if the volume is on, but when I put the phone to vibrate only, the ONLY thing that vibrates is the ringer. I find this to be a general annoyance with Android I think. Anyone know a way I can customize the vibration settings for notifications (text, email, etc) when the phone is on silent (vibrate only)?

Anybody else having this problem in 2.2? I'm not sure if it ever worked or whether it stopped working since I did the update last night. I tried changing the pulse notification light setting and doing a reboot bit no luck. I googled the problem and a few other people have reported the same problem but no solutions.
I've only tested email notifications and app updates.

Runs stock, 2.2.1. I have different ringtones for 'phone ringing, gmail notification & calendar alarm...
In last week or so these have changed a couple of times for no apparent reason (nope, it wasn't me!): Easily reset... . I'd downloaded Skype & wondered if that was doing something so uninstalled it. Just happened again..

Right now my phone makes the same sound whether I get a email or a text message. Can I make one have a different sound than the other? If so please tell me in detail how. I only see one notification sound area.

I am looking for the default sound files from the Incredible. Specifically, I am looking to the "doot" sound when you press the volume slider. Does anyone have this sound file? It is not located with the alarms, notification, or ringtones. Also, as an added bonus, I am looking for the notification sound from SportsTap as well.

How I love my Droid so much more now that I am using Froyo and Flash. I tried Froyo a few times in the past but always went back to 2.1 due to the fact I am addicted to World War. Now that the 2.2 OTA came out and went ahead and installed a Rooted 2.2 ROM and then installed Flash. Now I am able to stream video from mega video with almost no problems. They only problem I have is that the sound is just a little off. It's not to bad though. Anyhow back to watching The Big Bang Theory.

Such as text messages, and others? This was, and is a huge annoyance on 2.1 unless using a third party app, which I don't. Has Google fixed this in Froyo?

This only seems to have affected my EVO - after updating to 2.2, the sound quality through Pandora is very low, even with the "High quality" setting enabled. Before I updated, sound quality was at CD-like levels, even without the HQ option enabled!

Just found this out over at the XDA forums, that to change the boot animation and sound, you go to /system/customize/resource/ and it's named VZW_boot animation.zip and for the sound it's named VZW_Droid.zip..

I have both a Droid and a Nexus One. I have both of them set up for VoIP calls, and both are set up the same way. Here's how I set them up:
How To Set Up VoIP on the Nexus One Google Phone using Sipdroid for Free Calls | Dave's Tech Shop
How To Set Up VoIP on the Motorola Droid on Verizon Wireless using Sipdroid for Free Calls | Dave's Tech Shop
The call quality on the Nexus One is much worse than the Droid. I did repeated tests with both. And I used WiFi, so it can't be a difference between VZW and T-Mobile.
Anyone else tried VoIP on the Nexus One yet? I wonder if I have a defective phone or if this is a bigger issue.
The VoIP call quality problems are worse when using a headset on the Nexus One! VoIP quality on the Nexus One is marginal to poor without a headset, but with a headset it is unacceptable. I have tested four different headsets now. I have also tested those headsets on the Droid, and they are good. So the problem is the Nexus One, not any particular headset. My first thought was that I had a bad headset jack. However, after more trouble shooting I tend to think its not as simple as that. Music sounds fine through the headset. It is only VoIP sound that sucks when using a headset. The problem is so bad that phone calls using a headset are not workable.
Summary of Nexus One and VoIP:
* VoIP sound quality is marginal on WiFi with no headset.
* Music sound is good with headset on Nexus One.
* Headsets I'm testing with are good with VoIP and music on Droid.
* VoIP on Nexus One with a headset has poor sound quality.

this use to happen on my Galaxy Nexus and now happens on my Nexus 5. This random fluid sounding set of beeps comes from the phone for no apparent reason. I FINALLY managed to record it after all of these years.
Sometimes it will just do it once sometimes multiple times in succession. Then it might not do it for a week. Doesn't matter if the phone is locked or not. Completely random.....

I use Slacker and Pandora every day in my car on the ride to and from work, via bluetooth.Every Froyo rom I've tried (CM 6 alpha, the straight FRF57, FRF84, etc) sounds terrible. Its like the highs and lows are WAY overboosted and distorted.Because this has been common to every rom I've tried to date, and it is always fixed by reverting to my rooted 2.1, I usually do that. But I'm tired of missing out on flash and chrome-to-phone. Is there a sound fix?

I'm pretty sure my Hero used to give me a beep when I got a new SMS, but it stopped at some point (a couple of weeks ago) and I haven't heard one since. I've tried re-setting the notification sound but it doesn't help.I'm getting other alerts (new mail, etc.) it's just SMS that doesn't play a sound. I've checked the volume level and it's set to the same as the phone ring level, which is fine. I'm wondering if I installed an app that killed it.

When my phone is on the dock and I receive an incoming call there is no sound, either through the stereo speakers or from the phone. The only notification there's an incoming call is the trackball lighting up. Obviously this could lead to missed calls. Is there a setting i'm missing so that I can actually get an audio notification of incoming calls when on the dock?

It's that little "tick" sound you hear when you press an icon on the home page, or hit something on a menu, or click a link, etc. Mine is suddenly about 1/3 the volume it used to be. I checked the settings and I can turn it off in Sounds & Display...Audible Selection but I don't see any adjustment for the volume of it.
The only thing new in the past few days is that I got both the desk dock and car dock (the "quiet tick" problem is when it's not docked though).
Rebooted with no luck.

I have a Nexus S on Jelly Bean running and a few days ago I came across the Sound Search app in the widgets list and absolutely fell in love with it. When I restarted my phone after a day for some other reason, I realised that my Sound Search app wasn't there on the home screen anymore and was neither in the widget list.
I tried to download an apk but it just says that this file already exists, so I'm not sure what to do!!
