Just found this out over at the XDA forums, that to change the boot animation and sound, you go to /system/customize/resource/ and it's named VZW_boot animation.zip and for the sound it's named VZW_Droid.zip..

I thought that i just had to place the boot animation.zip file in /data/local and that was it, but its not working. is there another way?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was able to change the boot animation before Froyu using the procedure at http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/109120-how-install-new-boot-animation-without-root.html.After Froyo, I've tried to push the zip file as VZW_bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip to both /data/local and /system/customize/resource (I can't write to that location, I think it's for rooted phones only). None of these four options worked.What am I missing? That native boot animation is nasty.

I've used Root Explorer to change the boot animation on the stock 2.2 Rom. When I try to change the boot animation in CM6 it won't go through. I know the boot animation is located in system/media/boot animation.zip and I choose Mount R/W and it still won't change it. Do I have to use another method to change it?

Anyone know how to remove the boot animation "droid" sound. I have deleted the android_audio.mp3 from /system/media as this was the only place I could find it. Rebooted and I still get the "droid". this is with the leaked OTA update.

View 22 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I lost the "Droid" sound when I boot. On any rom, stock, Liquid, some other Rom, custom ani's and everything. I think I even lost it when I upgraded to 2.2 non-root. Is there a quick fix for this (don't think I'm confident enought to start mod'ing bootanimation.zip files yet)? Or someone have an ani that I can push that has a confirmed sound with it to just see if I did something wrong earlier?

It seems to work whether I put bootanimation.zip in /data/local or /system/media no problem... but the one thing I can't figure out is how to get a sound to play. I've tried every combination I can think of... boot.mp3 in the zip file, android_audio.mp3 in the zip file... tried the zip without the mp3, just placing the mp3 in the same directory as the zip (and also tried both names that way, in both directories stated above). Is there something I'm supposed to add to the desc.txt file? What am I missing? The only info I can find for the Eris is just "put a boot.mp3 in the zip file" which is just not working...
View 24 Replies View RelatedSo prior to manually installing the 2.2 update, I had a custom boot animation with sound. The update ran fine, no issues, and I knew I would have to re-install the custom boot animation files. However, I followed the same steps as I did prior to 2.2 (see below), and again, no errors. After reboot, I'm still seeing the Sprint 4G boot screen. Can anyone else confirm? Looks to me like it's been locked down.

I left the "Droid" mp3 in the localdata folder, and did not alter the config file. I'm using Pseudoram's boot file from [Collection] Custom Boot Animations and Splash Screens - xda-developers.It plays the sound sometimes, and sometimes not. Anyone know why?

I have tried pasting mp3 files with name as "bootsound" ,"boot_sound", "android_sound" and put them both in system/media folder as well as data/bin/ but no sound at boot... View 7 Replies View RelatedYou need adb and root. choose and download the bootanimation from here Boot Animations NEW! - Android @ MoDaCo. then place the bootanimation.zip into c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/ change or remove where.ever.you.have.it to the match your system. then hit windows key and r together. type cmd and hit enter. then type cd c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/adb devices (wait for it to find your phone, also make sure that usb debugging is on) now type adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local. when its finished reboot and enjoy.
View 15 Replies View Relatedi just got a new phone (my first android), ive been trying to change my boot animation and cant seem to get it to work,i replaced the file which was named bootanimation_virigin.zip (also didnt think of renaming the original, so the original is gone), i even replaced the stock one which was named bootanimation.zip (also didnt rename it or back it up... -__-;; ) i made sure the files are correct and match up with the desc.txt file. i copied the original boot animation zip to my computer and just replaced everything, same number of files, about the same file size, same file type, same size and just put the folders "part0", "part1" and the desc.txt files back on my sd card and moved it to system/media/bootanimation_virigin, i compressed the files into a zip using root browser from the rom toolbox, i made sure that the compression was set to none, and then moved the zip file to system/media, i set the permisions to rw-r--r-- which is the exact same as the other boot animations. nothing shows up anymore till the phone is done booting but ill admit that it is definitely better than the stock virgin mobile animation...
here is everything i have for this boot animation (including: original virgin mobile boot animation, a video of the boot animation, all the pictures, and a folder titled "bootanimation_virign" which is the folder i moved into system/media)

i thought it was something on my phone but it was the way after effects renders jpeg sequences, i think it has something to do with the attributes of the jpeg file but anyways i just used a program called boot animation creator and it worked perfectly

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying to change my boot animation to go along with a theme i have for bugless beast 0.4...i was told to put the bootanimation.zip in the data/local folder which i did..then i used terminal to load it up and it says no such directory or something.
So to be clear i was supposed to create the local folder myself right? data is in the root, then i make the local folder inside the data? it seems i'm doing everything right but when i power on the phone i dont even have an animation..it just goes from the M symbol to the phone on.
