Nexus :: Music Streaming On FroYo

Anyone figure out how to get this to work? I was looking forward to this as soon as I heard about it, but just can't seem to find it anywhere.
Prior to the 2.2 update if I was streaming music (Pandora or similar) or listening to MP3's (HTC's music player) while I was using the Google Navigation feature to get somewhere, my music would fade out when Google Needed to give me driving instructions, then fade back up afterwards. This was a brilliant feature to me. Yesterday, I found myself using music and navigation for the first time since my late Friday 2.2 update. Now, it appears I have to choose what I want to hear. If music is playing and the navigation needs to give me instructions, it just stops the music altogether - it doesn't start back. OR I can mute the navigation instructions and just listen to the music. But they are working together the way they used to. I haven't received a phone call while playing/streaming music to see if this issue goes with that too. I'll check it at home tonight and see and report back.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwhen I want to stream one particular song I noticed that the Google Play Music app downloads and caches the previous/next few songs for quicker access. How can I prevent this? It uses a lot of data and I usually only want to listen to the one song I chose to stream.
For example if I play a 6 mb song i noticed it uses about 40 mb to stream just that one song. Then I selected a different song to stream and immediately went into settings > download queue and noticed it was loading more songs than the one I requested. I only want to listen to the 1 song I chose, so how can I prevent the other songs from loading? As far as I can see there is no way in the app's settings but there has to be another way to stop this inconvenience.
P.S. I have a T999 galaxy s3 running on stock rooted ICS
Prior to the Froyo update, if I had anything above 10% WiFi reception, I could watch videos over WiFi. It would be more or less uninterrupted.
Since the Froyo update, I virtually cannot watch streaming video over WiFi. When I do, it plays, but it halts every few seconds and may halt for long periods. Fortunately, 3G seems less flaky since the update.
But WiFi on Froyo on my device has gone from good to essentially unusable, at least for streaming video.
My only complaints about WiFi prior to the update were lack of support 802.11n (which I've been trying to verify may have been fixed in the last 2.1 update) and the fact that my laptop could use WiFi farther away from the router in my house than my EVO could.
I have an unlocked N1 which has RA recovery/backup installed?..i think, its been a long time..sorry for new bie is Highness(is that a word)..Anyway..I have reset the device and now am on stock build number ERD79..firmware 2.1. If i do a wipe of the device when I restart i get the over the air update to 2.2. It downloads and verifies but when i restart i go to the boot loader? screen? and I get an install failed message.

View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is an update to the market fix thread from below. However, to fix streaming audio quality, it also requires build.prop changes. So please disregard that thread and take a look at this one.
market_streaming_fix_froyo.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download
Note, if you are having trouble with performance, this will JUST fix the market and return the streaming audio settings back to default.

I'm looking for a music streaming app. one that goes from my PC to my DESIRE over wifi or blue tooth. if the app can let me skip forward or back a track, thats a bonus. have looked at mspot, orblive and subsonic but none are really free and have a bunch more options that i don't really want.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe base radio on the Venza dominates. Toyota's new dedication to advanced consoles and tech is right on point. There's even a built in holder in the dash that secures my EVO upright, with a connection for my USB power cord. I even got the bluetooth music streaming to work. Awesome. I get into the car, and right away, it starts streaming my music right to the bluetooth stereo. That's where my brain melted.
I seem to only be able to play the album that I was currently listening to in the music app. I can switch tracks, but that's all I can seem to do from the car controls. The most frustrating part is, I have NO idea where to go for information. Toyota? They give simple instructions on how to get it started, but that's about it. I'm there already.
It's really an android thing, but it's kind of a fusion between the two. What functionality does Android expose for BT streaming, and which of those functions does the Toyota interface have a "hook" into? For that matter, it could be my inexperience with the EVO music player. Does it support playlists, linked playlists, random playlists, etc, etc. For that matter, can I download a different/better media player that will help me facilitate streaming better? Too many questions, and shockingly, Google isn't coming back with the detailed help I was expecting..........
I like to listen to live streaming radio (shoutcast) using different apps available. I want to know how I can make a bluetooth connection to my car bt system. I remember I did it once to my bt headset with my Hero but I don't remember how I did it. Also, a few times, my ringtone and keyboard clicks(with Hero) played through my car bt system but I have no idea how it happened. I didn't try to connect it. It just happened on it's own. If I remember correctly, to hook the streaming music to a bt headset you had to dial a pause (P) or dial ## and send it. The phone would make a connection and hang up right away. After that you were linked to the bt. But after the Hero update, that method didn't work anymore, the call would go through and you get a message saying "Can't be completed as dialed". So does anyone know a way of doing this with the Evo?

View 18 Replies View Relatedany Android music players that stream from FTP? The only ones I know are Dice Player and ES File Explorer. The former has no playlist capabilities whatsoever, while the latter's playback capabilities are fairly restricted and clunky.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am maintaining a streaming music player, and I'm running into a similar problem as http://www.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Android/forum/114391/_/593575
My player stop after roughly 1-2 minutes, and there are no log messages except for "I/AudioHardwareQSD( 52): AudioHardware pcm playback is going to standby" just after the playback stops.
This happens when I run it on the Nexus One over 3G. It does not happen over Wifi, and it does not happen on my HTC Hero with android 1.5 over 3G.
Do you guys have any hints on how to debug this? Is it e.g. possible to monitor the memory available to the media player object?
Pre-Froyo streaming video used to be pretty good on Incredible. My work often involves repetitive tasks, and the streaming video on my Incredible was, if not incredibly fast, good enough that I could catch up on TV shows which I could not make time for at home. Now, after a factory reset and Froyo, the sites which I used to stream these shows from no longer work properly on my Incredible. I actually tried several of them, including zshare, novamov, smotri, wisevid, divxden - most of these worked good enough prior to Froyo, now they all act strangely, just enough to waste my time, and then crash.
I almost thought I was ready to stop burning time making Incredible and Android work for me, and start making it work in my life. A deciding factor which sold me on this phone was the streaming video capability which others lacked at the time - and why should any smart phones not have this capability, which has been available on PCs for 10 years, in a time when smart phones can download web pages nearly as fast as Road Runner service actually does? Now that Verizon and HTC have my money, they start restricting what I can do with it, just like everybody else. Screw you, Android, HTC, Verizon, and every fanboy who defends the trojan horse they call Froyo! You fanboys, especially, who enable these frauds with your relativistic arguments. Yes, I probably am using Android and not an Apple phone because I like bluetooth, wi-fi, and my own choice of battery power, but none of that excuses the promise of features which don't actually perform - this is what the unbrainwashed would call fraud!
To me, the stock music app isn't that great. I am looking for a music app for playing music on your phone, not streaming.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI am a current iPhone 3G user, but after having lost all my contacts, text message history, and Safari bookmarks when I updated to the new OS, I am ready to be done with Apple. But, before I switch, I'm trying to get a handle on what apps Android has. My favorite apps are radio stations across the country that stream over the iphone. Does Droid have these? Is there a list somewhere that shows what ones are available?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find out all I can about streaming audio from my home to my Droid; i have around 100GB+ of mp3s I would like to be able to access. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has used these apps and services or suggestions for any that I have overlooked.
Orb
Subsonic
Mecanto
imeem
I have barely started playing with Mecanto. It's just hard for me to believe that they will allow you to upload any amount without any type of payment - unless they are planning to charge a considerable amount for the app later on. I do have Pandora installed, and I love it. But sometimes I just want to be able to queue up my own playlist of songs.
Is there an application which alllows you to search for songs and stream them for play? Sorta like Slacker or Pandora, but they don't letter you choose your songs.
View 2 Replies View Relatedare there any apps that allow music streaming from a computer to an android device via 3g network? i tried gmote 2.0, which seemed like a great app, although streaming music to the phone never worked, got an error message everytime and that was over wifi. anything that will stream music over 3g?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just found this app accidentally, and basically, you go on their website upload your own music to your account ( or you can buy/add their tracks) then when you log on from your android app you can play all your music, and download it! also great if you are out of space on your memory card - put your songs on moozone instead of the card ...

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to play Streaming radio stations other than apps built for specific services (like Pandora/last.fm/slacker/imeem).To clarify, I mean online radio stations, that use .pls files to play streams. Some also have plugin players, but since Flash isn't on the Droid yet I'm not too worried about them. But it seems like it ought to be possible to play streaming .pls files.I tried to download one and it said it couldn't be downloaded because the size could not be determined.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI finally have hardware working the way I like it at home (stereo inputs), at the office and gym (bluetooth headphones), and in the car (aux input or bluetooth to head unit). Now I'm ready to pay for an ad free music streaming app. The problem is deciding which one to get. I've messed around with the free versions of Pandora, Slacker and TuneWiki as well as FlyCast for streaming FM stations. I'm not crazy about the latter two as I prefer to create a customized "station" that plays exactly the music I'm in the mood for. I've also used Grooveshark on the computer, but I have no idea how good the Android app is without a Lite version to test.
Pandora, Slacker and Grooveshark charge roughly $3/month for ad-free music. I'm curious to know what others think about the various services, or one I have not mentioned. I don't mind paying for a good app, but I can't justify paying for all of them when one should suffice. So what's your preference? A reason besides "It's the best" would be an added bonus.
