View 3 RepliesI wonder if this means they are getting ready to release the update. I'll postagain if an update becomes available.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy phone is not rooted. When I select check for system updates, it does everything normally, I select install now, the installing icon appears, loads half way and reboots. When it starts up again, I get a pop-up saying that the update failed! I repeated this process a few times and I give up. Is there any other way to update my milestone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a milestone with Telus and went to Gsmarena.com and they had a link to the 2.1 which is 100 mb's or some odd but i did download it but the question is how do i install the update? i am using astro file manager and under downloads it is there but how do install the actual update that way i am at 2.1?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe way I feel right now is best described by Peter Griffin's quote from Family Guy - "Now I may be an idiot, but there is one thing I am not, sir, and that, sir, is an idiot."
I don't consider myself an idiot, but I feel like one when searching for instructions on how to update to android 2.1. Tried googling the search term "how to update motorola milestone to android 2.1" (among many others) and got a page entitled Motorola Android Software Upgrade News with a table of countries and timelines. What happened to the good old copying of the same tutorial and posting it on your site and re-posting the same video tutorial on YouTube, which made it very easy to find? I found some SHOULS files and a video on YouTube of some guy doing a tutorial which I didn't fully understand. And of course there is also the risk of breaking your phone and since I just got it 2-3 weeks ago I'm still very careful with it. So please explain to me this mystical process or just give me some helpful links, I would REALLY appreciate it.
I just got this notification on my milestone. Is anyone else this getting because I heard it was only coming to the froyo version. My milestone is rooted and running android 2.1
View 4 Replies View RelatedForce update Motorola Droid manually to Android 2.1 OS. I just happened to come across this while browsing for wallpapers. I'm not sure if it will work for GSM Milestones and I'm really not sure if it will get rid of 3g access. From what I read this isn't anything to do with rooting. It' just the OTA update repackaged to a zip file. Sorry I would try this but I'm not very good when it comes to this kind of stuff. I know I could get the update on to the phone, but if my 3g and other stuff stopped working I dunno how I would get back to Telus 2.01 as there's no way(as far as I know).
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter a wipe and upgrade to 2.1 I started having problems with my alarm clock. When I set the alarm to notify me at certain time it won't start at specified time. Once I press the power button it starts sounding the alarm that was set. Any idea what could be going on? Currently I don't have any third party apps installed on my phone.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI updated my Milestone last week and all was working ok. I decided to root the phone today and ended up in some constant re-boot loop where the android logo would appear then reset. I managed to get the phone working again after several hours of worry, but there still seems to be some issues. I would like to remove the 2.0.1 update and re-install it again from frest so that i can fully remove this root access and hopefully my problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Milestone on Telus with 2.1-update1.I'm using WPA at home and WPA2 Enterprise at work. Until recently, my WiFi was working perfectly. Then I noticed that I haven't connected to WiFi in some time so I tried and failed.Options > Scan doesn't do anything. It doesn't connect. It sits there doing nothing. And the WiFi networks don't have problems. I've tested them against an HTC Dream and a Magic. Both work fine. I tried the WiFi Manager app but it doesn't have any scan results. It just shows both - the work and home WiFis - in the list. Scanning doesn't change anything.I have restarted my phone multiple times with no results.I have rooted my phone using Easy Root hoping that would help. It didn't.Anyone experiencing similar problems? Any possible workarounds?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi bought a motorola milestone online thinking we werent getting it on canada anymore . which i think is UK version? so i accepted the fact that i had no 3G on it and was aware that the phone frequency and cariier frequency were different. so when i decided to root my phone according to: MILESTONE 2.1 update and root guide - Android @ MoDaCo
i didnt know which SBF file to pick the telus canada one where im from or UK where the build number was the same as mine and where i think my phone was from.. i couldnt unzip the gz file and it kept gicing me errors on the telus canada sbf file so decided on flashing the telus canada one. (and was hoping maybe my 3G would even work. everything ran smoothly and my phone was rooted but now i realize i have no signal on my phone at all. no text or voice calls.. just wifi. i did my research and people suggested that i put APN which i did but that didnt solve the problem also i read that for custom roms theres those 5 files File_Audio , File_Audio2 , File_GSM , File_Seem_Flex_Tables , generic_pds_init that i was suppose to copy and then replace after the root but i was stupid enough not to back up.. so now im stuck and i dont know what to do.. is there an sbf file i can use cant even restore to factory settings because i dont think itll change my firmware..
I downloaded MSU from motorola support pages, but when i try to install it I get an error message, error shot attached to the post. I tried googling it, but no help there. I tried changing it using 'msiexec /qb', but that didn't help either. My version is Motorola_Software_Update_01.11.84_PROD.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):
*Netcounter
Phone Portal
Calendar
*Handcent SMS
**Alarm Clock
Music
Settings
Email (ikke google mail)
Maps
Media Gallery
Bluetooth file transfer
Smart Alarm clock
Messaging
Facebook (jeg bruger ikke facebook widget)
MyBackup
Corporate calendar (ikke google kalenderen, men en kalender der kan synkronisere med outlook)
**CalWidget
*Gmail
AK Notepad
Photoshop.com mobile
Practically all programs. I have only used programs marked *
** = programs I can understand if they're running, i.e. widgets
Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)
I am unable to use Gtalk, gmail, Maps, Market, Email (all pre installed) using GPRS/EDGE (Vodafone Live) on my Milestone. But All of these works with Wi-Fi connection. I installed Meeboo Messanger, this is also not working with GPRS/EDGE.
I called Motorola Customer care, they are saying that I have to take a DataPlan from Vodafone and should ask Vodafone to activate all GPRS/EDGE settings on my mobile. So I took a DataPlan (200 Rs. 100 MB), Vodafone People are saying that all available setting are already activated on my cell. But I am still unable to use any of them above. Every time no network connection found error is coming.
When i take a photo in the dark just using the flash with a close up photo of an object. Half sometimes 3/4 of the screen is black, i have a feeling its and app because i sent it back to motorola and the re-flashed the phone, it was working fine until i restored all my apps using "my backup pro" and now i have the same problem as before.I need to find out which app is causing the problem.I also find that the camera doesnt work at full flash capacity because when i press the camera button to focus the testing flash is alot brighter than the flash it uses to take the actual photo.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI just got a milestone yesterday, and I was fascinated by it. The only thing that kills me, is that it doesn't take permission to connect to the internet. I used to have a Nokia, which always had to take my permission first to connect to 3G internet network.
But with the milestone, it doesn't, and I get charged for every single 1kb used I just lost what is equivalent to $10 USD in the last 5 mins for just trying to open Google and download the SlideME app. is there some kind of hidden tasks that uses the internet or something ?
One more thing, today morning, I opened facebook after recharging my credit balance with 20 USD. And guess what ? They're all gone too for just opening the home page! if I have an active internet connection, how can I close it ?
Does anyone know where to get a good pouch style case for the milestone? I've looked through eBay, but they are all generic ones which are either too small or big.
View 3 Replies View RelatedEverything seems damn fast and it's so simple to set up. Only problem is that I have set up my work e-mail (which sits on a server and is a POP-3 account I think!...can you tell I'm not technical?!?!) using the in-built client on the phone, trouble is that it keeps crashing and has to do a force close on me pretty much every time. I've looked for this same topic in the forum but cant find anything which answers the issue. Is the next software release likely to fix this bug?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I both got Milestones about a month ago. So far so good; we're trying to keep up with the kids on technology. Anyways, we discovered we're unable to receive texts with pics, but are able to send them to iphones users (who can receive them). I asked about it at the Telus store, thinking it was a setting or something, and she said "smart phones can't receive pics by text, you have to email them". Doesn't really sound right... The choice to send a pic by text is an option in the menus, and it seems from reading the forums here that at least in the US, it's possible with the droid. So is this a Telus issue? No big deal, we're just wondering what's up. Even our daughter with a non-smart phone can send/receive pics by text.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a Motorola Milestone and would like to mount it to my Linux (Suse 11.2) without the use of the media cradle. With the cradle, you pop the phone on, connect your USB cable to the cradle and to the computer, and -- very important! -- switch your cradle from "charge" to "sync". Then your Milestone is immediately recognised as a USB mass storage device and all is fine. But without the cradle? The phone charges from USB but won't talk to my Linux. There is absolutely nothing in the syslogs, so it looks like the phone is not behaving as a USB-enabled device. It seems from the above that I should switch my phone from the charging mode to sync, but does anyone know how to do it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have now been using the overclocking function for over a month and would like to report on the settings found to be most effective.
I use a combination of apps to achieve excellent battery consumption (1 1/2 days generally).
1. Screebl, set to 15 seconds.
2. Milestone Overclock, set to custom 1000 MHz @ 69 vsel
3. SetCPU general 1000/500 with charge 250/1000 and sleep 250/500
Ive found that the 125 MHz setting does not push enough juice to the radios and i sometimes get glitches with the touch panel/ dialler when SetCPUs ondemand governor is waking up to a call or 3g connection.
Also, the lowered vsel value of 69 seems to save a half day's battery as opposed to standard 1000 MHz/ 72 vsel offered by Milestone Overclock.
Screebl is a must for anyone who doesnt have it, as its simply the most effective battery manager out there. Would like a five seconds option though
How to do it?
in contact, menu button will show display option
display option>>only contacts with phones / Choose contacts to display (email acc)
Anyone know where the best place to get Milestone cases? I'm looking for the rubber skin kind. I have two of the hard plastic type and they crack real easy. I also have the belt clipping one that turns the phone around and hides the touch screen on you belt.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn my quest to have a 3G connection on my new Milestone I first tried to connect to the AdHoc network running on my iPad but I found out that Android phones couldn't connect to AdHoc networks (see Enabling WiFi Adhoc on Milestone ?)...I'm now finding out that they can't connect to Bluetooth modems either...is that correct ? I saw messages saying that PDAnet enabled BT DUN but that's probably only to let other devices connect. I put my iPad AT&T microSIM card in the Milestone using an adapter but Amazon sell the Euro version so it means no 3G in the USA, either with T-Mobile or AT&T.
