Is there an app out there that will allow you to modify the vertical keyboard to text using the normal T9 mode for texting?
Note: I did search before posting and came up empty handed so dont bash me if this has been asked before.

It seems like every now and then when I'm texting my 3g service goes out and is now 1x.. i live in a small town so do you think this is normal? it has been doing this since i got it. I heard handcent is really good. is that more bugles then the default texting app on the droid?

Then I switched to an Eris where I had the option of using the qwerty keyboard on landscape OR I could hold it upright and use the numeric keyboard with T9 like I did on my slider. I always held it upright and was very happy. I was having reception issues with my eris so I traded it for a Moto Droid. Is there an option for the numeric type of keyboard becuase it takes me friggin forever to type a text.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it just me or is the qwerty Keyboard, going from vertical to horizontal is very very slow. I'm like sitting there waiting forever for it to change, and by that time i forgot what i was going to write.
is there a fix or for that matter a quick button you can press to switch it?
I got my Captivate about a week ago and some far I am liking it a lot. However, I thought I was having some battery issues, as my phone is draining faster than my brother's iPhone.
Using one of the battery status widgets, I've noticed that my batter drops about 1 percent for every text that send and receive (send one text+receive one text = 1% drain) meaning that I'd only be able to send about 100 texts in a day on a full charge. Most days I don't reach that but there are some days which are pretty text heavy. Is this a normal rate at which the battery should be draining for doing something like that? I am using Juicedefender and Advanced Task Killer to monitor what is going on, and the only widget I have running is Fancy Widget.
I got my Droid 2 (or as it is called in Germany Milestone 2) just this week. I got two minor things that are bugging me. (see the other one here Is it possible to reconfigure the keyboard?) Otherwise I'm loving my new phone. I got the auto-adjust option for the Display turned on but for some reason the screen won't switch to the landscape mode as long as I don't pull out the physical keyboard. That is only the case for the homescreens and the main app menu. Otherwise it works fine. For example, if I open the settings I get to look at them in landscape mode with the keyboard in our out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo when I try texting in Portrait mode, it acts as if my trackball is stuck to the left, now I used to have this problem only when it was charging, but now it's more often.
Also on my home pages, it will slide all the way to the far left one. And sometimes my messaging app will lag, then force close.
I'm really in favor of the SMS texting format. I've recently installed an app that I really like, but wanted to know if and how to disable the really text messaging mode. As it stands now i receive two incoming text all the time now.

So why pay for a text plan when you already probably have data plan on your phone?Not sure how much unlimited texts is now but I have an old plan which is $10 dollars a month for unlimited Verizon to Verizon; with 500 texts out of network. So, if I cancel texts on my cell phone plan I can just use the "mail" application that comes with the phone. Use my gmail account and send out texts to numbers and tell my friends when sending me a text just type "username@gmail.com". This way I receive texts from other people through my e-mail and I can also reply back with an e-mail which would really be like a text. You can text from your computer and cell phone.Very useful encase you want to save money. I am thinking about canceling texts on my plan. Maybe you all already knew this. I knew I could send pictures to my phone years ago before I even had a smart phone but I just realized this again and thought about canceling my text plan. What do you guys think?

My friend hates it so he uses swype (which i can't use worth crap) I text really slow on it, so i got an n1. Verizon plans are just too expensive for me anyway.

I may have got it wet after getting caught in a rainstorm Friday night. It wasn't soaking wet and the device never shut off but the x is on the water marker.
Side notes: BB 1.1 and q1.0 kernel.
I use the hardware keyboard exclusively, but am wanting to use the software keyboard more, figuring that my next phone may only have that. My real problem is figuring out how to move the cursor around in the text. If I want to go back and edit using the hardware keyboard, I just use the d-pad to move back to the spot I need. How do I do that with the software keyboard? Am I forced to tap the screen (which never chooses where I want it, and I have to key pecking at it to get it in the right place)?

I hate the horizontal keyboards which aren't as easy to type and also take more time going from portrait to landscape just to answer the tons of emails I get. The Pre/Pixi is very good as is the Curve/Bold which is rumored to have touchscreen some time soon. Anything on the horizon in Android?

My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
Sorry for the newb question. Of course you can tap in the right spot, but that is not very accurate. The d-pad on the hard keyboard works of course, but what about on the soft keyboard?

Is is possible for me to have a keypad style keyboard when I hold the phone vertical and then switch to the qwerty keyboard when I turn it to the horizontal? If so, how do I do it? I just find that the qwerty is a bit too small for my fingers when it's squashed up in portrait mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm finding one particular feature of texting on my S3 mini difficult...It occurs mostly when using non-predictive, which would be fine since I primarily use predictive. But also is an issue when using the ",.?" key (numeric 1) in predictive too.
If I need to use two letters in a row which are on the same numeric key, there's a really long pause before the phone accepts the letter and allows you to re-use the same key for the next letter. Is there any way to speed this up or skip the pause in some way? On old-school phones you could just press > (or whatever key is used to move forward a space - not space bar tho) to skip the process. But nothing works on the S3 mini.
Any way round this or is it just a thing I have to put up with? For e.g. it's particularly annoying when I want to use two question marks in a row "??"....
Anybody have any favorite keyboard apps?
