Just rooted for the first time, I am running Chevy's ss v4.4. So far I like it a lot, but now when I run NFL Mobile it says "NFL Mobile is only availible for Verizon users."

Just got my Droid X on Wednesday. So I initially tried rooting the manual way (How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - Forum), ran into some trouble. Later found that it may have been due to some Moto driver issues. Was finally able to get the correct Moto drivers in by turning off debugging, plugging in as USB Mass Storage, and then it updated MotoConnect to a version that's apparently not available online.
Anyway, I rooted using the one-click root (DroidXRoot), was able to download wireless tethering which never actually worked. The program runs but it says "Unable to start tether". Don't know if this is related. So I'm trying to get clockwork mod, and I'm trying to deodex. I attempted to Deodex using xUltimate v2.2 and this link ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.), all ended up working, but when I got to the part where I have to enter the cmd lines, I failed. I run adb shell and it brings up a $ and then i type su and it says Permission Denied. Can't figure it out.
I've also tried installing clockwork through ROMManager, I hit Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, hit Droid X, and it says successfully downloaded ClockworkMod recovery. If i lick reboot into recovery it asks if i'm sure, I say yes, and nothing happens. I've also downloaded the file and placed it on tnhe root of my SD Card but I can't figure out any way to actually install it.
I thought I'd go back and start from scratch 2.1 now that all my drivers are in-line, but of course G** D*** Motorola brought down all the sbfs with their C&D. I've manually installed the Android SDK, I honestly don't even know WHAT I've done now, the files on my desktop that I've used consist of usbdeview, xultimate, DroidXRoot_v2, USB_Drivers, recovery-clockwork, update.zip, MotorolaConsumerDriver MotoConnect Installer, I've edited the PATH under my computer settings, I'm completely lost now. I just want to be able to run some themes! My initial goal was to deodex, and then it turned into this massive pile of ****.
I was thinking if I can get deodexed and clockwork mod recvoery working I probably will have solved any other problems in the process, and figure wireless tethering would prbably be included in that. Anyone have any idea AT ALL where I should go from here?
I've been on the fence about rooting my droid, and looking through these tutorials it looks simple enough.
1. What are Kernels and do I need them exactly
2. Do I need a specific ROM to overclock or will just a plain rooted phone work
3. Do I need a nandroid backup?
I would like to know how many people are useing froyo non-rooted and rooted.I'm tyring to diside on what should i do?I also looking for advice on if i install Froyo Rooted, what can i do with it? and install on it?

But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.
3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.
To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.
My status on Google Talk never changes despite the fact that I have the settings checked in settings to "go to away when I turn off the screen" as well as "show mobile indicator to friends". This wasn't functional in 1.5, 2.1v1 and now 2.1v3 on my Eris. Has anyone had success? I've seen this function work on a TMobile rooted G1 but that's it.
I can watch the indicator change on the web when I change it manually (signed in as another user), and its very responsive. However, no auto-away when i lock the phone, and no indication that I'm on a mobile phone.
I was wondering if anyone was able to get their T-Mobile/Motorola Cliq to work on T-Mobile's basic data plan? They now have a specific Android data plan. I can't believe that they raised the data and unlimited text message plan to cost $45/mo. in total for Android phones! I'm using the $19.99 unlimited data/messaging plan now and would like to continue to use it. If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know how you did it.

I tried shutting down the house router, and I just could not connect. I have Ubuntu installed on an sd card so I booted said netbook into that. Wireless tether works fine there. I need wireless tether in windows, though. For work. I am using 2.0.5 -pre11 version.
Is there another version that I should be using? Slightly aggravated as I've been at this for an hour and a half now. I know i've seen threads to this effect, but can't seem to get the right info at this point. Also, could someone please confirm thier wireless network adapter settings on the laptop side? I assume it's auto -acquire for both ip and dns, but wasn't sure.
I have a CDMA account with boost mobile (I have the blackberry), can the EVO work on Boost since it is a CDMA phone?

But when I am rooted or on a custom rom, they don't work. I know this is because I am rooted/modded (because the app makers indicated they check for root access).

I have 2 overclocking utilities. (Setcpu, and overclock widget) I understand that I have to update or flash the Kernel. The adb commands were successfull. WHen I rebooted my droid it was bricked (well not really cause I did a Nandroid backup right before I did this) It was just frozen with the white Motorola logo. Perhaps I downloaded a bad 800 mhz evilboot8.img.
My Windows 7 laptop seems to find the barnical network, but when I connect it doesn't seem to work.

I am on the current .37 update.I downloaded dragonbox from the play store, and it loads but nothing on the screen responds to touch. Is there a way I can force this app to work on the Nabi? Or is this an issue with the software? (I'd be willing to get to the bones, rid the Monarch UI, etc. to have better functionality of the Nabi).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using raptor with a2sd set up, the newest kernel and turbo 4. I decided to install nfl mobile so I can watch the thursday night game tonight and it doesn't work.... thought it was an a2sd issue so I reformatted my sd card and flashed a fresh raptor. It worked. So I updated the kernel and it still worked. Then I isntalled the turbo4 and it no longer works... bummer. I'm figuring that the JIT is worth more to me than the nfl mobile app so I am going to leave it alone. I did find during this process that my phone seems quite a bit faster without a2sd. I have the original sd card which I'm sure makes a difference, but I think I would have to stockpile apps before a2sd would be faster than internal memory even with a faster card.

I have a tick next to 'Mobile network' in Settings, and the Network Operator is set to 02, which is auto.
I'm sure it worked the other day when I fiddled, but I might have switched something off by mistake.
When I try to launch the Internet app, I get an error that asks me to sort my mobile web settings, which takes me back to the Settings I have mentioned above.
Facebook app will not work over mobile data on my GS3. It works fine over WiFi, but on mobile data its slow. I flashed the 4.1.2 leak i wonder if that has anything to do with it.

I reloaded appsaver after rooting and flashing and can move apps to sd, but can't click on the tab to move apps back from the sd. I still have the list of apps, but it would be nice not to have to redownload them. I'm tried apps2sd also, and i can't transfer back my apps that way (didn't use that program initially so not a surprise)
