Sprint HTC Hero :: Rooted - Flashed Cm6 - Appsaver Wont Work

Oct 2, 2010

I recently rooted and flashed my hero to cm6 after using appsaver to copy apps to sd card. I reloaded appsaver after rooting and flashing and can move apps to sd, but can't click on the tab to move apps back from the sd. I still have the list of apps, but it would be nice not to have to redownload them. I'm tried apps2sd also, and i can't transfer back my apps that way (didn't use that program initially so not a surprise)

Sprint HTC Hero :: Rooted - But Can't Seem To Get ROM Flashed

Apr 10, 2010

I am running 2.1 rooted and I am trying to flash Fresh's ROM onto my phone. I have put it in the root dir of my SD card. I have renamed it update.zip. When I go into the boot mode and select run update.zip from the menu, it never installs. It always says error. Also, the only choice I have at the boot menu is update. I don't have the choice to choose the zip file I would like to run.

HTC Hero :: Rooted It Via Andoot Software And Flashed Recovery ROM

Oct 12, 2010

Hi there, I have recently got around to rooting my HTC Hero. I have rooted it via the Andoot software and flashed a recovery ROM via the Terminal Emulator. Upon rebooting the phone, I get into the Recovery Menu without any problems. However, if I then boot the phone back up, shutdown again, and then try to get into the Recovery Menu, I have faced with the red triangle with the explanation mark. Any ideas why? Basically, it seems I can only access the Recovery Menu on the first reboot.

Sprint HTC Hero :: How To Get Flashed With Zen ROM?

Sep 9, 2010

So I did Darchstars "one click" root which I did. I backed up with titanium, wiped back to factory reset settings. Now I downloaded Zen Rom, rebooted, restarted with volume button all that but everytime I check SD card to flash Zen Rom the only thing on SD card is the 1 click root Rom. It says SDcard: rootme.zip only NO ZEN....
Build: Godspeed recovery Darchstar edition. How on earth do I get Zen Rom? What am I doing wrong?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Just Flashed A ROM Wirelessly

Aug 28, 2010

I'm at work yesturday and I was trying to install a new ROM (ZenHeroFX 2.2), went to XDA's site under the Hero's forum and saw the zip, but my companies computer blocks access to sites like megaupload. I was pissed and didn't want to have to wait til I got home to put on this bad boy...

So I looked over at my Hero and thought I wonder if I can access the megaupload site and DOWNLOAD THIS 117mb FILE... all through my phone. So it was a slow day I thought I should go ahead and try. Went to the site via my Hero and accessed the megaupload site. Thanks to Flash on my Hero I was able to even see the numbers tick down from 48. So the button was now shown ready for me to download. And sure enough it proceeded downloading the big file.

No more than 25 minutes later over Sprint's 3G, the download was complete. Didn't even both searching my SD card for the file, I immediately went into recovery. The file was a bit hard to fine at first but I found it in one my download folders, hit the file and installed it. after about 5 minutes of it rebooting, my Hero has successfully installed the ROM... no computer, no USB's... wireless.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Lost Root When Flashed Fresh 2.1.2

Jun 27, 2010

I rooted last night and earlier today I flashed fresh 2.1.2. What I did was made a newer, more current nandroid, then I did a factory data wipe. I had to reboot the phone then, didn't know that, thought I could flash Rom at this point. Once it booted, I powered off, booted to recovery and flashed fresh 2.1.2. Once it finally came to, I started re-downloading my apps starting with autokiller. I got an error message while trying to change the preset saying I don't have root access, now I exited this and went to the app drawer and sure enough I do have the superuser permissions app there but when I try to open it I'm taken to a plain black screen. What went wrong, how could I be running fresh but lost root somehow?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Rooted Hero Vs Rooted Moment

Jan 15, 2010

There's been a lot of comparison between the stock Hero and Moment but I was wondering if anyone has played with both a rooted Hero and Moment. Becoming more and more set on switching over to the Hero.Rooted & got CL14 on my Moment last night thanks to zefie, numus, and the great guys at sdx, but maybe I just had my expectations too high as I didn't see a large improvement over the stock kernel & ROM, esp in speed (did fix the battery meter and improved battery life thank god!).I understand rooting a Hero makes it faster but by how much? How does it compare to a rooted Moment running a home replacement app (like PandaHome)? This way I feel it's comparing apples to apples in terms of experience, as opposed to compared to a rooted Moment running stock home.Ever since I got the Moment, I've been trying to get Sense-like stuff on it (like a lot of ppl haha). Coming from the less-sophisticated BB Curve, I was surprised when stock Android didn't support things like Facebook integration (I know it's coming in 2.1, but HTC has it now).

HTC EVO 4G :: Rooted With Unrevoked 3.2 - Not Flashed ROM

Sep 23, 2010

I rooted with Unrevoked 3.2 but I have not flashed a ROM yet. My biggest concerns are that I will loose everything. If I flash the new OTA ROM, do I loose all my settings, like my gmail accounts, checkbook balances, game scores etc? I did (at least I think I did) and Nandoid backup using ROM Manager, confirmed the filename that I chose was on the SD card. Does that mean that if I boot into recovery mode, I should see the file? And can I boot into recovery to verify that it's there and then back out? Sorry for the noobie questions, searching through the forums (which I did) can be very challenging.

2. How do I change the Lock Screen wallpaper? When I flashed the ROM, the lockscreen inherited my default desktop wallpaper from when I was non-rooted. Like in Sense, I'd like to have a different wallpaper for my desktop vs my lockscreen. Can this be done?

3. I loaded the Droid X keyboard apk file. I takes fine and works after I install it, but once I reboot, I'm back to the base keyboard. Any thoughts on that one?

HTC EVO 4G :: Evo Flashed To Metro And Rooted - Can It Tether

Oct 18, 2010

Got an evo and had it flashed to metro pcs so everything works to my knowledge, talk, text, mms, internet, gps, etc. Was the phone rooted then?

Heres the specs on the phone info:

android version 2.2
baseband version 2.15.00.07.28
kernel version 2.6.32.15-g3a8614e / htc-kernel@and18-2#7
build number jiminy v2
software number 3.26.651.6
browser version webkit3.1
pri version 1.40_003
prl version 02004
eri version n/a

So it was a verizon phone before the metro flash and the 3g hotspot feature doesnt seem to work. so I did some research and ended up getting the wireless tether app. but I cand get my ipod touch to connect to it, well that is it shows its connected but the ipod says it cant connect to the internet. ultimately I want an ipad to replace the ipod but for now my wife wants the ipod and while away or on a trip it would be cool to be able to use the evo as a hotspot. any ideas why it wont work, does the kernel support tethering?? is it not able to connect to an adhoc wifi? is it beacuse its flashed onto metro? all in all this is such a cool phone and am so happy with it just wonder if theres something I am just not getting.

Motorola Droid :: Flashed To Cricket - Does This Mean Its Rooted

Mar 18, 2010

So my droid is flashed to cricket, and the oh so anticipated full flash has arrived, ( ) after bringing my droid home several months back, i did a bunch of research, and came to understand that there's two ways to run your phone.

I paid a pretty penny for my droid and wasn't exactly anxious to do anything to the fancy digits inside the phone,..... so my question is, since my phone is flashed, does this mean my phone is already rooted? im a little nervous about doing the whole full flash, since this is a new file they use,(I will be taking it to an "expert") but i've seen so many ads that say "we wont brake your phone like the other guys",....kinda scary statement if you ask me.

So what does this whole flashing thing do to a phone? I dont have any of those rooted things you people talk about, dont know anything about any of that, but im scared its possible these people will somehow ruin my phone.....

HTC Desire :: Rooted And Flashed Froyo W-Sense

Jul 25, 2010

Yesterday, I finally decided to root my phone and flash an android 2.2 'with Sense' ROM. I followed this guide: How To: Install Froyo On An HTC Desire | I Can Has Pi?

I used the 2.2 Sense ROM recommended by the guide. Everything was going really well, but once the proses was over I saw some things that instantly made me wish I had never bothered rooting:

-I have a VERY low internal memory; no room for half my backed-up apps, no room for SMS, no room to take a low resolution photo(let alone 720p video!), and not even room to browse my photos or music(I know-weird...)!

-Some apps (like the HTC MOD keyboard with voice input) simply don't work.

-Slow boot and load HTC Sense.

-Programs force-close very often, as dose HTC Sense.

There are some good things in this ROM (like a slight increase in performance) but really, the bad outweighs the good- especially with the low storage, considering that the main reason I rooted was to get more space for apps!

I don't know what to do now. Is there a solution within the ROM I'm using at the moment? Or did I just use a crappy ROM. Which can you recommend (Froyo w/Sense)? Unrooting seems quite easy, or is that dumb now that I've gone through the trouble of rooting? I can't be without receiving SMS for much longer!

HTC Desire :: Rooted And Flashed Modaco's 2.2 ROM With Sense

Jul 21, 2010

I got sick of waiting for HTC to get 2.2 out for the Desire and I have no intention of waiting for the weeks of rumours and "delays" on those rumours.

I've rooted my Desire and installed Modaco's Android 2.2+Sense UI ROM and frankly I'm glad I did. It's stable, has all the features of 2.2 and is a LOT more responsive than the 2.1 stock ROM.

This was super easy thanks to Unrevoked. The principles should in fact work on any new HTC device. I can highly recommend it and you can check out the details of how I did it here:
