I am at work and I got the urge to download final fantasy 7 to my psp. Working at a bank there Are no open connections for wifi. Wait I got a droid. One prob. My psp is unable to fins the droids broadcast. I tried to scan and also tried to manually set up the connection. Any ideas?

Friends are setting up a wireless router @ work. we all pitch in some cash to pay for the monthly fee. They want to keep it secure. If the router is broadcasting publicly, my eris sees it and will connect. As soon as it gets encrypted, or password protected, I drop signal and my phone doesn't "see" it. I've entered my mac address into the router in hopes that it will broadcast to me. Can't see it.
It won't even show as a "locked" or "secure" WiFi connection. I've set up the wireless preferences according to network ssid and correct password. No success. Is there something screwy with the eris WiFi system? Anyone else run into this problem? Why is it that I can use WiFi if it's an open, broadcasting signal, but can't use or see it when it's a password protected and privately broadcasting signal? Doesn't make sense to me. Is there an app for this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my hero a few days ago and got Wireless Tether up and working. It works great except none of the settings do anything. I can change them, wireless tether restarts, but they never take effect. I tried changing the SSID, adding encryption, and changing the encryption password. None of the settings took effect. My laptop and ipod touch still discovered the network as "AndroidTether" with no encryption.Is there any way to fix this problem?Rooted 2.1 HTC Hero with stock rom.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out if a system event broadcast is broadcasted using ordered broadcast or normal.The event is EVENT_REMINDER and in the source for the calendarprovider i noticed it sets up a alarmmanager to sent the broadcast. I can't find how the alarmmanager sends it. My guess would be as a normal broadcast , But while i was trying some things i noticed i could delay the system's notification (tried up to 10 sec) by building a sleep in my broadcastreceiver. This would indicate that they are handled ordered , and the systems receiver is only called when mine has finished. But can i be sure of this behavour?? (in all 1.5> sdk versions) the docs state that in some cases normal broadcasts are also handled ordered..due to spare of resources.

After you root, do you use the wireless hotspot app already on your phone, or do you need to download another app to use. I'm not quite brave enough to try this yet, but as a previous BB Storm user I tried nearly every upgraded OS that was leaked and never had an issue. The universal androot app looks pretty fool proof.

Since I am too cheap to pay the $100/month for voice+data, I was wondering if there's a way I can tether the Droid to my current phone via Bluetooth. Obviously I can't use the Droid to make calls this way, but ideally, all the other data apps and services would work... or at least all of the data services not requiring an active Verizon account. How many of the Droid's data services just need "network connection" versus "a Verizon account"? I would simply swap phones and start using the Droid, but until the Droid can safely shoot underwater video without dying this is a non-starter.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI already picked up some good tips but am having a lot of problems with my droid. I will start with the tethering issue. I have mine done with smoked glass and it has the wireless tether installed. It will open and my computer will sync up with it either secured or unsecured and then you will see a several seconds flash of bytes in and out and then the kbps will drop down to 0 and I will be unable to connect to the internet. I have read that newer versions may solve the problem and that if I dont have my ordinal sd card in, it might be the problem since the info may be needed? I did try copying those folders onto this card but still no good. The android one to be exact. If the only option is to remove this tether and install a new apk one, how do I that? I cant seem to find it?

Can i use the wifi tether after connecting to school internet and then connect my laptop to the droidx? will the speeds be comparable to me just connecting straight to wifi? and is there any ways that the p2p filter still might catch me or will this method work? i guess i'll try it anyways and play dumb if i get kicked off my saying "oh, someone must have connected through my phone's wifi tether app"
