When playing a video shouldnt the screen not time out?..if your watching something ur not always going to be touching it to keep the screen awake even if u set it to time out in 30 min thats still an issue or am i missing something?

Not sure if this has been addressed before, but I cant seem to view mms videos. Im using Handscent SMS and when i receive videos via text, they don't seem to load. I just get a, itunes looking image and i only hear the video audio.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI put the movie Hot Tub Time Machine (.avi) onto my Droid X. Plugged the DX into my computer, selected USB on the phone, and went into DCIM -> Camera -> and dropped Hot Tub Time Machine into there. Now when I play it on my phone it freezes after like 4 secs and the sound goes off.
However, when I go into "edit video" on my phone, I can watch the entire thing with the edit panel and everything. Weird huh? But it wont let me watch it correctly by hitting "play"?
I have written a video player app. Its working fine, but the problem is the screen is going to in sleep mode after playing some time. When I click on "Menu" button on the device, then only it wakes up.
How can I solve this?
I have a problem in playing video file in android using VideoView. When I keep the .3gp video file locally in res/raw folder, the video file plays successfully. But when I keep this same file on live web server and stream it, it runs on Android G1, Nexus one and Tatoo which I have for testing. But It fails to stream and play on Motorola milestone. I got the error on device as: 'This video is not valid for streaming'. What problem it should be, I am really seek of finding it. Is it the issue of programming or file format?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI emailed myself a video from my phone. Downloaded it to my laptop. its a 3gp extension file. What do I play it with? I suppose that if I manually take it off the SD card, it will be the same extension. How do I deal with these files? VLC, QuickTime did not play it. Windows Movie Maker did not open it either. On a Mac it worked fine and flawlessly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the Alcatel OT-918d (stock rom, root access enabled) and while playing videos in the browser, I do not get an action prompt to choose from the available video players and browser plays the video using "default video player".
The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)

I would like play media (video) from a network stream, but the stream comes in a non-standard protocol, so I have to somehow feed Android MediaPlayer with the data only. Is there anyway to do that? I tried just making a folder on the sd card and pasting a video(mp4) in it, but the droid doesn't recognize it.Then i used Motorola media link, it worked, but the picture quality didn't seem as sharp on the droid than it did on the iphone(didn't compress it when i transferred) and can't seem to figure out how to expand video to fill screen.

I already know that it will play MPEG-4 videos without a problem (you can use the RealPlayer Video Downloader to download HQ/HD videos from places like Youtube and it automatically saves them to MPEG-4 format).
However, I want to transfer some files like music videos onto my HTC Hero and having tried several times, using the RealPlayer Converter, to convert the .mpg files to .wmv, I can't watch them on the Hero.
However, I recently looked at one of the threads (I think on a different forum) and he said that he could watch videos in WMV format using 750kbps on resolution 480x320. But RealPlayer only allows for 768kbps and resolution as 480p HD as the nearest possible (which was the setting I ordinarily chose).
The other strange thing is that when I go onto the Albums part of the phone to see if I can view any videos, it shows a thumbnail image of the music video (a preview image of the video) and when I play it, I can hear the music, but the video itself fails to appear.
I cant play the videos i have recorded on my laptop as it doesnt recognise the 3gp format. How have you been getting around this as there are some i want to keep for memories but it is useless if i cant play them back on another device.

Just got my new desire. Love it. Trying to watch some video on it. The videos came from get_iplayer (if that matters) and are 640x360 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. I've tried several players, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, PlaysVideo, Media Player, built in player and I get audio but no video. Is it the video codec or are the dimensions too great and need to be scaled down a bit.

When certain people send me picture messages and I touch them to open and view it plays as a video, the picture will play for a second and then go to black screen and then back to the messaging screen. It wasn't sent as a video message by the person so why is it "playing " instead of just letting me open it in the gallery and view it like most? I've searched google and other forums for an answer but still nothing.. its not a huge deal but I would like to fix it if possible.
