View 5 RepliesI'm sure there is no easy answer to this question.. but is there a way to remove the "HTC"-type settings in the CM-based ROMS(Koush/JRummy remix/ UD 10, etc.)? By these settings I mean the Trackball/Breathing light and similar. These ROMS would seem overall more Droid-oriented without these settings that are basically useless to us Deleting the HTC Copyright .apk seems easy enough..

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was using the facebook app and clicked a youtube video link and decided to make youtube the default app to launch for this specific action. However, I later decided that I want it to launch the link in a browser (so I can read comments) instead of playing instantly after clicking the link.
I tried "Clear defaults" under settings>applications>manage applications but there is no settings for youtube. I tried to clear defaults for facebook and my browser, and tried reinstalling the facebook app but no luck.
Browser seems to chew up memory pretty well, which is usually okay, but it would be good to be able to clear it. Well if you long press on the back button you get an option to exit and clear cache. Neat. Any other apps do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 Hercules (T-Mobile) and its used. In the Last week I pull some photos and mistakenly delete them, but with my "Recurva" program i could see all the photos (mine and others owners)
On the one hand I'm happy for having recovered, but if one day I want to permanently delete photos, I have the fear that the other person recovers.
How I can delete all photos, videos and files in the cache memory?
I've made an application based on the Google Maps API. The problem is that my application is made to be used in the wild, in places where there is no network. So I would like to manage the cache in order to ensure that specific tiles are saved and available during the trip (I'd like to redirect them in database but any method may do). For now, I didn't found any other method (not tested) than try to recode the MapView class. I'm focusing on Google API in order to have satellite photography (for places where there are no roads). What could I do ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedQuick App Clean Cache. Any one else notice this is now missing from the Market? I'm assuming its due to the fact its copy protected but now its unpurchasable. Any one know another location it can be found? I wanted to buy this but should have done it before updating to 2.1 v3.

un-check flash in the settings, clear cache and restart the phone.
I haven't had any crashes or forced closes since I did this.
Anyone know of any apps that will allow a parent to set a content filter on the Eris so a kid can't access adult themed websites (porn etc)? The subject came up at work and it sounded like something worth looking in to, but the best I could find was a content filter service from Verizon (for free) but it seems that it also prevents Google Navigator, Facebook and YouTube from working properly (they all load just fine, but crazy error codes come up which prevent you from getting any further). Also of note: this only works when using the 3G service, as WiFi has no problems accessing Nav, FB and YT.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to transfer everything (apps, settings etc)from one Droid to another, like the switch device option on the Blackberry Desktop Manager?I just spent 4 hrs customizing my phone just to find a dead pixel on the screen and need to have it swapped out. Don't want to go through it all over again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI probably nuked my Droid doing something, either messing with it rooted or cold/snow/moisture got to it. I'd be in the middle of a call and the other person wouldn't hear me. This would happen randomly. I went to Verizon and they simply shipped me a new phone.
Now that I have it, i thought all my apps would be on the SD card. Nope. I can only get back Apps that are the Market has marked as needing update. all my other apps are gone. How can I move them along with my custom setting like GDE etc?
SO I sinstalled the CM 6.0.0 rom to check it out. I downloaded some apps and fiddled with some settings to see if I liked it, but decided to do a wipe before using it "for real". Unfortunately, I can't get it back to a clean install because it insists on restoring all of my previous settings and applications. Even ones I've uninstalled and gotten refunds for, no matter what settings I put in the Privacy section about backing up and restoring.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've played around with my phone over the past month to the point where I've probably fubarred it. I know how I want my phone to be setup (finally) but I think I've introduced way too much bloat and un-needed garbage by installing-unintalling apps and roms.
Is there a way to reset the phone back to factory, but at the same time keeping my contacts and apps in tact? (Did that make sense?) So I basically want a clean slate without having to write down all my my apps and re-setting up my screens. I have Fresh 1.1 and Gumbo
Is there any way to start my Droid Phone in "clean" mode? I just discovered that one recording app was killing my outbound phone, and I have some other wierdnesses with zoom happening. Before I go round and round with Verizon, I would like to start my phone without all the add-ons running. But I do not want to uninstall and reinstall everything, just to see/prove that the new apps are not causing my zoom problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to settings>applications>manage applications i get the loading screen, then a message saying process com.android.settings has stopped unexpectedly and please try again. I am running stock sense (not rooted). Tried turning off the phone and removing the battery, but no luck as I keep getting the same message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a good program to backup your all your apps, files, shortcuts, bookmarks and personal settings. I know Astro has a "backup" function but I don't know what it actually backs up. I know you can back up your contacts Google.
I guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to "clone" your Droid, not just the SD card.
I synced up with my computer after uninstalling unused apps and clearing the browser cache and a few others, just general clean up to keep the phone running smooth. After roaming around my sd card, I came across this. A total of 84 cache files totaling 3.24mb. What is this from and is it ok to delete them? I'm assuming it is since it is just cache, which you can delete any of theme xcept for google nav (force close issues).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use my SD card often and like to keep movies in Movies folder, music in Music folder..etc..basically keep my data nicely organized for consumption later with approriate programs. But when I look in the SD card in windows, there are dozens of app created folders. Is there a way to make android create a Program Files like directory like windows so all app data can go into it?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I started playing with my new Droid (4409) I saw that it had the same auto-focus issues that everyone else complained about.Setting the unit to action made it focus at infinity, so somewhat better but I couldn't get shopsavy to recognize any barcodes.I cleaned the lens even though it didn't seem dirty and now Shopsavy locks onto bar codes and the unit seems to Auto-focus with just about 100% lock (green corners).Could some of the problems people are having just be be caused by lens placement and skin oils?
View 34 Replies View RelatedI want to clean my SD card with applications on it, but it's not obvious where those apps reside. I understand they may be encrypted, which is fine. I have no intention of copying or trading them. I just would like to know what NOT to delete so that I don't mistakenly erase them from my card.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'll be getting a Droid about the middle of next week. Most my Google contacts don't have phone numbers attached, just e-mail addresses. I also have a Google Voice account and number and plan on using it for most of my phone traffic (which really isn't all that much). About a dozen of my contacts are in there now with their e-mails and phone numbers.
Most my e-mail contacts (a couple hundred) aren't divided into groups right now.
Do I need to clean up my contacts before getting the Droid and syncing things up? Any tips for doing so if needed? I don't want to mess up my Droid right off the bat if there are some things I go do in advance to make getting up and running smoother.
