View 2 Replies View RelatedI wish there was a way you could zoom while video recording.. I hate that this isn't an option.. This is sooo simple.. Why couldn't HTC incorporate this in the camcorder?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs the Droid capable of recording video with an external stereo mic (Sony ECM-MS957)? I was thinking about getting the Kodak Zi8, but hey, if the Droid can do it then I'll save the $200.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have not taken a lot of video with my Droid (I have Flip for that), and what I do take, I just watch on the phone. But, I may eventually want to play this on my computer or on my TV using a streaming media device. My current device plays a LOT of formats, but I have not tried any of my Droid videos. What format does the Droid capture video in? Is it the 3gp I have heard about? If so, I think that is one format I can't play where I want it. I heard that my wife's Incredible actually records in mp4, but then converts to 3gp, but there is something you can install which prevents that conversion and keeps it in mp4. Is there something like that for the Droid?
i have a question,since this is very helpful for me using this mode,is there any possible way of having the flash on(led)while recording a video on a droid(verizon)?Or is there an app or a hack,or what does need to be done for this to happen?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes the Droid X have autofocus while recording video? If not, is this a software thing or is it hardware? Kinda sucks not being able to autofocus while recording.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did not see any other open threads on this; there is a very simple system edit you can perform to record video @ 8 mbps, up from the default 3 mbps. This is from a reliable source. Works very well. Root access is required and, of course, be sure to backup everything before you try anything.
The Droid compresses recorded videos (which results in blurriness and some blocking), so today I started poking around the system files and found this line in build.prop:
Code:
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=3000000
Which basically means video is compressed at a fixed rate of 3Mbps. I didn't think it would work, but I went ahead and changed the value to 8Mbps:
Code:
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000
Rebooted and shot a test video. Lo and behold, the video is now recorded at 8mbps, resulting in a MUCH crisper image!
To apply the fix, you need root access. Simply edit that line in your /system/build.prop file. You can pull the file from adb, edit it, and push it back, or mount the /system partition as read-write and edit the file with Astro.
Edit: For the more adventurous users, here's another tip: I've been tinkering with the rest of the video settings in build.prop and comparing the resulting videos. So far, the best setting I have found is actually using MPEG-4 SP instead of H.264, 8 Mbps bitrate, and 30 frames per second. The phone chokes at 30 fps in H.264 mode, but does a pretty good job with MPEG-4 SP, and at that bitrate, the image quality is still very good regardless of the codec. The pertinent settings are "ro.media.enc.hprof.codec.vid" for the codec ("h264" for H.264 and "m4v" for MPEG-4 SP) and "ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.fps" (you can choose anything from 1 to 30)
I have two questions regarding video recording on the Droid X.
1. What options are there for encoding? On my HTC Hero I can encode in MPEG4 or H.263. What about the Droid X?
2. My friend sent me a video from her Droid X, but I can't hear anything as far as audio in a normal setting. The only way I can pick up anything she's saying is if I max out the Media volume and hold the speaker directly up to my ear. Is there something she's doing wrong when she's recording the video? This has happened twice now.
Is there an option to auto disable my sounds while recording video? I forget sometime and it sucks during one of my life capturing episodes to hear my R2D2 ringtone to go off.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I take videos with my droid, they always have "noise" in them. Little fuzzy dots of green and such (If you don't know what I mean by noise). I have set the quality to high and all that good stuff, even did changed the videos mbps from 3 to 8 with that trick that was posted, to no avail. Anyway, here is the video. Its pretty hard to see the problem with youtubes quality, but if you can spot it just picture it as being a hell of a lot worse. Also, the darkness is not part of the problem, I realize the droid doesn't do well in dimly lit areas, although my room is brighter than the video lets on. Pay close attention to the walls, especially when I look at the ceiling and you may see it through YouTubes bad quality.

Any of you see a lot of banding on the camera app in medium to low lighting. The flash usually prevents banding from appearing in pictures but when recording there is huge amounts of banding. is this normal?

BGR has a video comparison up. The Droid X has much better contrast both indoor and outdoor. The iphone has horrible bloom in highlights outdoors Which crushes all detail. I would even go as far to say that the iPhone video is really bad. Not surpisingly, he declares iPhone the winner because it is 30fps and not 24fps. Personally I couldn't see the difference between the two speeds.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a launch day H/W version 2 Evo that doesn't have a zoom feature for the camcorder. I thought it was odd from day one, but never thought much more of it until I looked at two of my friends Evo's over the weekend. They both have H/W version 3, and guess what? Both of their phones have a zoom feature for the camcorder. Does anybody else have H/W version 2 without the zoom feature? I am running 2.2, and never had it with 2.1 either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone tried this yet? Not quite there on features yet, but regular updates and I can see this being a big player. Loving the skins and animations. Zoom wheel is pretty cool too or you can use a slider if you prefer. Was playing around with some of the new skin packs - one of them is kind of scary!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried a few different google searches on the subject and most of the results were about playing different video format, not recording. I'm wondering if there is a way to change the factory default video recording format to something like generic avi or mpeg formats?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am looking for video recording example, it suppose to be in api - sample but not available. I am wondering if 1.1 release still missing this feature?
If it does support then in which format and where is the example. Also I am trying to figure out MP3 encoding long ago but still no solution. I have recorded an audio ()which is in AMR by default, how can I convert it in MP3 (any external package I can use?)
Is the Evo supposed to be auto-focusing when its recording video? If I have just the viewfinder and no recording going on, it auto-focuses whatever I point it at, but when it comes to recording, its not auto-focusing at all. It just stays blurry.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDon't know if anyone knew this but if you download the LED Desire light from the app store, use the app first to leave the LED lights on and go to your video recorder. You can now record video in the dark and have somewhat clarity with the LED lights on. Granted it would probably be a big energy waster, but atleast you know have a choice.
