I was wondering if there is a way to control how often the Motorola Social Networking application updates with Facebook. I have searched the phones settings for a month and have not found anything.

Does anyone have their facebook linked with their X?
I am trying to figure out all the ins and outs for the device but anyway if you do
have you noticed the contact id for certain people is not the right person?
For instance my ex-bf Chris contact id is another chris that i am friends with on facebook...
Another Matt's picture is the id of my other friend matt
I only see this with people in my contacts that have the same first name as a facebook friend people like Bridget are fine.
I cannot for the life of me find any settings for this. I swear I've read about people setting theres to only do it every couple of hours or so to help with battery life but I can't find anything for this. The only thing I've managed to find is an option to set it to only sync over WiFi. Forgive me if this has already been asked but I couldn't find any answers to this dilemma.Oh and also, what exactly is considered "Background Data"? There's an option for enabling/disabling it and I wondered what the term encompasses.

I know that most of these applications have Java libraries or functionalities exposed as REST based WebServices. Is there a way to delete Social Networking Services messages in the History tab. When u delete the call history it gives a message that Social Networking Services messages cannot be deleted.

1. What exactly is going on when facebook messing up contact lists?
2. I have heard it mentioned a few times that the widgets for facebook and twitter are bad on the battery? Can someone elaborate on this since I am new to these android phones and also anything else I might want to look out for. If so I would be appreciative. Thanks to a situation in my life this phone has to last me at LEAST two years.
I saw a commercial today for the Xperia X10 on Rogers, which said it included "Unlimited Social Networking". Just wondering if anyone, like me bought the phone in April, and knows if this is included in their Voice + Data plan? I'm currently on the $50 Voice and Data, and http://www.rogers.com/web/content/social-networking shows that its pre-bundled in the 3 plans.
Or if this is something we have to contact them to add, or worse, something we missed out on because we bought the phone too early for their liking.

So here is my question, under Menu>Settings>Social Network> Facebook appears there. I have that set to update every 12 hours.
HOWEVER, my actual Facebook App is set to update every 2 hours.
So... does the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook control my facebook app or just the bookmark that comes pre-installed on the phone?
I am trying to save battery life, and I noticed that the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook were set to update every hour, but I had the settings under the downloaded app to update every two hours. My goal is to have only one facebook medium updating so I don't drain battery life!
I received my wife's Eris last night and was setting it up for her. For some reason it wouldn't let me log into her facebook under the social network settings. She wanted to do this so she can see birthdays and have contacts connected with their fbook profiles. It would not let me log her in. It says that the service is currently unavailable. I can log her into the android facebook widget and the mobile site but not this. I started messing around with my Eris to see if I could figure out what is wrong. I logged myself out and now I am getting the same message. I have been using this setting since day one with no problems. My wife has the update and I do not yet. Has anyone else ran into this issue.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Droid X a couple of weeks ago (2.2 and Rooted). It wanted to do some auto app updates and I told it to do them all not sure if it was before or after that that I noticed a red light by the ear "piece/speaker" and the phone was on and a battery level warning came on which I thought was premature. I plugged in the power cord the light went to green and I looked over a few minutes later and it was dead. I could be a little off on what happened when but that's what happened.
It wont power on now and I've tried holding a few different buttons while powering on and still nothing. I did check the settings the other day and it was successfully backing itself up not sure how to use that backup though. I just looked over after typing this post and the Motorola "M" was on the screen but I couldn't get it to do anything so I pulled the battery and tried again to boot it and nothing.
I have just bought my first Android phone today and having used an iphone and Blackberry in the past I wonder if I can get similar apps. Are there any there that will suffice.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone since Tuesday and it's not made it from morning to night one time. I am using it, yes, but I thought that was the point. My usual routine is wake up, check the twitter/facebook feeds, log in and check email, browse a few web pages, and get moving. today, i did all of that and took a walk and listened to a cd for an hour on the doubletwist player. i took a single photo. and made one very short phone call. it is nearly dead. it's been off the hook since 830 and it's only 3. I could do all this minus the music playing part on my blackberry, which was ancient 8830 and i would still have juice by midnight tonight. and it should be noted, blackberry constantly pushed my email--i have k9 set to manual, as i do with the facebook and twitter/social media widget. so that instantaneous access that's supposed to be so useful and exciting--i don't have it.
i've done all the usuals, turned off the bluetooth, the wifi radio, the 4g radio (the whole point of the damn phone), lowered screen brightness to the very lowest number, making it totally useless in bright daylight and i mean completely useless-can't see to answer a damn call), i have the screen lock to 15 seconds. i have the autosyncing off, i have the whole phone crippled, and it's about to die. does anyone have any suggestions? i was using launcher pro, but want to go back to the standard touchwiz--only bummer is i can't swap out the messaging icon for handcent which i installed over the regular msging app--because ppl said it uses less battery drain-- but not sure how to disable the old one. i am using live wallpapers, but again, how much of a drain can they really be overall? i turned off the animations, is this a lemon? will rooting make it better? will the new upcoming os make it better? or is 6 hours of usage all i can expect? srsly, i would like to know, because if that's the case, i will go back to the blackberry. i don't care how fancy the phone is, if you can't use all the fun things without it dying, then what's the point?
I've had an ongoing struggle with my X's battery life, from day 1 with 2 different standard batteries to try until now with the extended battery.
I've tried it all and thensome and nothing has majorly improved my battery life. I won't go into number of hours I get or usage details or anything, but I have a question I cannot seem to find any solution to.
I noticed after I updated to leaked 2.2 Froyo that very often the 3g up and download arrows are both lit up and basically never turn off. After a few days of trying to figure out what it was (and using Juice Defender in the meantime to shut data off except for 15 min intervals), I think I've figured out what is causing the 3g data to often constantly be transmitting.
I went into the Battery History screen, left it set to "Since last unplugged" and went to "Network usage". In here, the bar for "UID 10012" is very high, almost all blue. Every time I exit the menu and go back into to re-check those data numbers, they are always increased after only seconds while the 3g data symbol is active.
Inside of the details for that are several built-in system app names. I tried stopping a few of these through the Applications menu of the phone where you can stop services/apps.
I finally have force stopped one (has worked several times now) that has stopped the 3g data instantly every time.
This one is "Social Messaging Service".
Every time I click the "Force stop" button within that app's info page in the Application settings of the phone, the 3g data arrows stop lighting up instantly.
Is this app related only to the Social Networking built-in app (which I don't use/need)? Is it tied to other things? Is there a downside to me stopping this?
I can't seem to keep it stopped and it seems to cause this 3g data issue every day at some time (multiple times usually - seems to happen again a few hours after I've stopped it). I think it is attributing to my sometimes bad battery life.
How can I stop this ongoing Social Messaging "bug" battery drain?
Is there a app or way to take a snap shot of the screen to share on social sites, such as the temp. where I live?

I know it is possible for a java application to gain access to Microsoft Office PowerPoint's slideshow. Some applications for Android are already made (Gmote 2.0 and such) and they can be used to navigate PowerPoint slideshows.Is there any extension or any library that can be used to gain access to Microsoft Office PowerPoint?
