Motorola Droid X : When Try To Delete Pictures - Option Grayed Out

Nov 23, 2010

I'm having no luck deleting some pics that I no longer need on my phone. I had previously created a new folder called Stuff using ES File Explorer where I had temporarily stashed these pics. This folder is visible when I go into the Gallery, as are folders named Camera and Messaging. Some of these stashed pics were copied from Camera and some from Messaging...so like a dummy, I have the same pics showing up in three different places.

Anyway, I finally decided today that I wanted to delete those pics. I opened the Stuff folder in the Gallery, menu selected all, then hit delete. The screen flashed momentarily, then all the images reappeared. I tried the same thing again, but no luck. I even deleted the Stuff folder while in ES File Explorer, but it still shows up when I go into the Gallery. When I opened the other folders, Camera and Messaging, when I try to delete the pictures, the Delete option is grayed out.

I have no idea why, but I then went into ES File Explorer /sdcard/dcim/.thumbnails (had to select the option to view hidden files/folders) and wondered if maybe it was just the thumbnail images which still remained. So I deleted those too. Still no luck.

What am I doing wrong. Where do I have to go, or what do I have to do, to delete this stuff permanently?

HTC Desire :: USB Stopped Working / Option Grayed Out

Jun 17, 2010

Today I plugged my Desire in to the USB socket, to top up the charge, and noticed the little USB icon/logo thing that usually shows up on the top left of the Desire's screen wasn't there. I checked in the phone's settings and it is still set to ask me what to do when I plug it in. I have tried a couple of leads (including the one HTC gave me) as well as both front and back USB ports. My PC is running windows 7 and it plays the chime when I plug my phone in.

It also appears in devices/printers but when I right click the phone and choose browse files it is greyed out! I have tried uninstalling the drivers etc, restarting the PC, I even tried to plug the phone into my netbook (running Ubuntu, which used to recognize the phone) but nothing works! It is not really the end of the world but I would like to sort it. The phone charges when I plug it in the USB socket on the PC. I suddenly thought 'I haven't rebooted the phone' so I did and all works as it should now.

HTC EVO 4G : Adding Calendars Option Appears Grayed Out / How To Fix

Jun 8, 2010

When I try to add a calendar to my phone (apps>Calendar>Menu>More>Calendars>Add Calendars), the option for "OK" is grayed out. Theres no other option or way to add calendars that I can think of. It pulled my personal gmail account's calendar (which I do not use) but it did not pull my work calendar (which is also on a Google calendar using Google's domain thing).

Does anyone know why the option appears grayed out for me?

HTC EVO 4G : SD Card Option To Mount - Format Grayed Out - It Shows Not Available Space

Aug 18, 2010

I have an issues and hopefully somebody can help. Ok I have an Evo and it wont read SD cards. Whne I put in an SD card the option to mount or format the card are grayed out and it shows not available space as if there is no card in there.

So I figure its a bad slot so I take it to a close by repair center and the guy lets me try a card he had in another android phone (hero I think) and it it was recognized by my phone. So I go it must be that my card bad.

I go home and put the card in my laptop and format it and it formats fine. When I put it in the Evo still not recognized. I put the card in my PS3, it's recognized so I format it there too. I put it in the Evo still not recognized.

I can't be the slot in my evo cause I put the guys card in myself, turned it on myself and saw for myself that it recognized the card. Anybody know whats up with this? I have official 2.2 but this was going on BEFORE I updated to froyo. Can anybody help?

Motorola Droid :: Gmail App TERRIBLE - Can't Save Pictures - Can't Batch Delete

Nov 29, 2009

Believe me when I say that I never thought in a million years it would be possible to have a smartphone with a worse mail app than the iphone. Then the Droid came. I mean come on! We can't save pictures, can't batch delete, hell we can't even click most links! Maybe I'm venting a little, but It's kind of embarassing when your a company's web apps work better than their natively installed apps that come pre-installed on a phone whose OS you developed!

Jul 23, 2010

Last night I donated and am just waiting for the paid version now, but I have a couple of questions:

1. What exactly is "freezing" an app? Will it remove the app from the app drawer? Will it just prevent it from running?

2. Can I use Titanium backup to delete apps that are safe for delete like amazon.mp3, etc?

3. If I "freeze" an app like backup assistant will it still be on the phone so that it doesn't brick if I do a reset?

4. Can I delete or freeze things like crap ringtones so they don't show up when I am setting a ringtone?

General :: Is There A Delete Message Option In Facebook

Dec 23, 2011

i switched from a BB (6 years on and off) to an android device (SGS2 LTE on Rogers)and i have some things i would like to ask to make easier ; >

1) Why doesn't Gmail give you a count of how many new message there are? how do i get this option?

2) is there a mark all read option in (gmail, yahoo mail, facebook,)

3) is there a delete message option in Facebook?

4) is there a sound profiles setting or a good app out there that can set different sound profiles for different situations (i.e. work, home, silent, vibrate etc) found an app just now called simple profiles.. seems to work okay..

5) SGS2 doesn't have LED, but it's not a question ; >

6) how do you get more then one gmail, yahoo icon for different acconts and label them instead of it saying "Gmail" or "Yahoo".

7) how do i see comments that were posted to pictures in facebook? when i get a notification that i have a comment i click on the alert and it just takes me to the picture.. i cannot see the comments anywhere..

a bit of a learning curve as u can see, and going from a physical QWERTY to a touch screen is difficult. Got some ROMs installed and definitely more apps, but pretty much similar to what i had on my BB...

I also connected my phone to my PC and checked all files there but these pictures seem to only show in the gallery. Seems if they are in the gallery then they have to be in a file somewhere? Sincing is turned off and the blog was deleted months ago.

HTC Droid Eris :: Signal Bars Grayed Out - Applications Force Closes

Jan 27, 2010

This has happened to me three times since getting my phone a little over a month ago. The four signal bars at the top go gray and an 'X' appears over the top of them. After this happens, all of my applications force close. The first time this happened, I took my phone to Verizon and they said they have never seen or heard of this happening so they just swapped out my phone for a brand new one. This worked for a day, until the same thing happened. Instead of waiting in line at Verizon for 3 hours again, I called customer service. The lady said it could be from an app. So I just decided to do a hard reset on my phone. It has worked for about 2 weeks and now its at it again.

HTC EVO 4G :: Way To Mass Delete Low Res Contact Pictures From Contacts

Jun 17, 2010

I'm delving into customizing my EVO and thoroughly enjoying it. I have so many options I just don't know what to do with myself! I do, however, need some help. I made the mistake of linking my Facebook to my contacts when I first got my EVO, so my address book was a complete melting pot of mess (Facebook friends, imported contacts from my Blackberry, and others) and it absolutely drove me up the wall. I figured out how to unsync my Facebook, and I did.I now have two problems. I imported all of my contacts from my Blackberry to my EVO and two things happened. Most of the numbers didn't come with them, and all of the pictures from my old berry did. Elsewise, this phone is still finding Facebook contacts and linking them with imported contacts. I'm going bananas.I need to find a way to mass delete the low res contact pictures from my contacts, find a way to I guess "link" or find the numbers for all of these contacts, and a way to make this beautiful phone stop putting Facebook icons and low res pics on the people in my address book.
