Motorola Droid X : Way To Do One-touch Dialing With LPP?
Aug 30, 2010
I was using the quick the "contact quick task" widgets for one-touch dialing of key contacts prior to installing Launcher Pro. But now in LPP, they don't work. I've tried recreating them but they just seem to be broken in LPP.
Any fixes or ideas on other ways to do one-touch dialing with LPP? Also, is it just me or does "speed dial" (on the favorites page in dialer) not work at all. I can get to the speed dial page but cannot successfully add contacts.

How do I create one touch dialing with Launcher Pro? The "Contact Quick Tasks" don't work with this launcher. I do have have "Shorter Cut", but have no idea how to script "intent". I just want to be able to touch a contact icon and have it dial. Any ideas?

This is what I want the end result to be. I have the screen to left of my home screen clear. What I NEED for this screen is to have 8 one touch phone contacts that I can clearly tell the difference between. The 8 would consist of 4 people, my 4 supervisors with both of their phone numbers (office & cell). I tried 2 folders, one for office and one for cell. I don't like it that way. Using these, in some cases will need to be quick, and the folder doesn't stay open when you move away from the screen. If I put them directly on the screen neither the icon nor the title show the difference between the office and the cell. Then I created groups for cell and office in Google contact.s I added the HTC People widget (the tall one) for both. The widgets, of course, stay open, but when I touch the button it only takes me to the contact card. An app, thoughts, suggestions?

I need a way to turn off the fact that if I tough a contact once incorrectly it calls them. It's really annoying for me and i end up calling friends when I don't want to, then the phone turns black when it's calling someone for protection and I can't hang up right away. I can't believe this isn't a setting to turn off somewhere. Anything would work I guess, even if it's just an app that asks you to confirm if you want to make a call.
Anyone else heard of a fix to this? I would be forever in your debt..

Does anyone know of a setting or app that will prevent one-touch dialing? Many times when scrolling through a contact list i have accidentally tapped a contact and the phone immediately starts dialing.
Ideally I'd like to have the phone not dial until i hit "send" confirming that i do indeed want to place a call. Any way to do this?

It always (and I mean 100%) tries to call the wrong person or perform the wrong action. Has anyone had any luck with this "feature" at all? I'm about to give up on it as it seems pretty useless.

Quick rundown on what I've done to my DX: First got it, OTA 2.2 update, rooted, then deodexed with 928droid's black glass deodexerrr, then installed incognito theme. Alright, after I installed the Icognito theme yesterday, a few hours later, a few strange things started happening. My 3g cut out, googled around, and tried dialing *228 then option 1. A few minutes later the 3g came back on but eventually quit working again. I tried a battery pull a few times, nothing. Then I tried the *228 again, nothing. Second, I have this damn "Memory usage" thing on my homescreen that I have no idea where it came from. Lastly, now whenever I reboot my phone, it boots automatically into clockwork recovery. When I'm in clockwork and hit "reboot now", it boots up fine. Here's a screenshot for more info on what I'm talking about:

as many if not all are aware who use the Motorola Droid that the bluetooth and voice dialing is a joke. Phones from 6 years ago and every one since function better than the Motorola Droid does in this aspect. With over 800,000 units said to be sold(Moto Droid)... the number of stars for this issue are very low.... In fact the overall participation on google code is low i think.I'm asking everyone to go on Google Code, log in with your gmail account, or do whatever you have to do to be able to 'Star' the issue. Posting replies on their site is not necessary without relevant new info to the issue, and only dilutes the issue. Staring alone is enough and very helpfull

Is there a ROM that will support bluetooth voice dial support? It's a frakking joke that this super advanced phone can't do a simple function that phones mastered 8 years ago.

This may be just me or my combo of applications but, When I enter a number on the touchpad and press dial the screen goes dark and will not come back or accept input unless I put the phone to my face or otherwise cover the the light sensor. Even pressing the power button does not bring the screen back . I have forced the 2.1 update and have not noticed this behavior before. Not a big deal but is annoying if you dial a wrong number.

For some reason my droid likes to power on in my pocket (I think its the screen sliding open/closed causing this). As I use the unlock pattern, it seems the emergency dial function is too prominent on the screen and almost every time I'll hear my phone using the emergency dialer when the phone presses against my leg while walking.Does anyone know if there's a planned fix or already released fix that can make the emergency dialer also a 'slide to activate' like answering a phone call or possibly reduce the emergency dial button in size considerably? As I've pretty much given up on Motorola providing much in the way of Droid updates at this point, esp since they appear to be ditching android slowly I'd be willing to root for this functionality.

So my beloved Droid is finally starting to show her age. Part of the touch screen has failed on the very right side of the screen as can be seen here:
The phone is still fully functional other than this and appears to be one of the better units out there (runs perfectly stably with 1.2ghz ulv kernels, gets great battery life and has a bubbly keyboard).
Having this portion of the touch screen go out does cause a few major problems though:
-Search hardware button no longer works
-Can't use notification blind in landscape view
-Can't hit backspace on portrait on-screen keyboard
-Many software buttons (like the ones in maps) can't be used in portrait
I have already visited my local VZW store and was assured they have replacement Droid 1s in stock.

One thing I like about the iPhone is the pinch to zoom feature, the droid does not have this yet...I don't think. Is there a 3rd party web browser that supports this in the app store? Or is there any hint of one coming soon? It's not that big of a deal really, I'm just curious.
