Unless I'm mistaken, it seems the X only ringtones or vibrates one time when an SMS, MMS or GMail is received. There does not seem to be a method to allow periodic ringtones, vibrations or LED blinks -- to indicate a message was received. So the only way to see if you have a message seems to be to wake the phone up. If true -- this would be a real bummer.

Should the stock gmail shortcut icon show how many unread gmail messages I have when using Sense UI? I thought it did. I've been using PandaHome for so long with the "Unread Gmail Notification" app that I can't remember whether or not I need the "Unread" app with Sense.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an email app with really persistent notifications, that is: instead of the single tone/vibrate notification when a new email arrives, I need it to keep notifying me periodically (say, once per minute) until I open the app and read the email, or at least clear it from the notification shade.
recommend an email app that does that, or an addon/plugin/extra app that accomplishes the same thing?
Any mod or app that allows the notification/status bar be visible all the time throughout any app? I dont mind loosing that few bits of screen.

This is my first smart phone. Very pleased with it so far. But Is there a setting Im missing somewhere. When someone calls or texts and ur not around the phone to hear it doesent the phone have a setting where it rings every 1 or 2 minutes. To alert you that you have some sort of message waiting. Other than the little tiny green light that blinks when u have a message. My env touch you could set it to alert you 1,2 5 15 30 minutes after initial message.

1. i have the "Droid" voice ringtone but when i get a text message it says "Droid" twice idk why its doing that i thought i only have it set to go off once
2. also when i get a new message it gives me a notification in the bar on top and the only way to make it go away and make my led turn off is by manually dragging down the bar and clearing it! is there any way i can have it just not show up or fix it or something?
On my wife's Droid X, the status bar indicates that she has a voice message. After logging into her message box and clearing all voice messages, the status indicator never goes away. Any idea how to clear this out? It's been there for a few days now. I've tried powering down and removing the battery. We are on Verizon if that matters.

Is there a way to set it up on the DX so that if i don't read a new text after the initial ring, it will beep or play the rington like every minute. this is the only feature i miss, bc sumtimes i walk away from my phone and miss the text coming in and i wont know its there unless i check my phone. I would like to have it beep or something every minute as a reminder that you have a text waiting.

When I click the text the time is correct once the text app launches, but the notification time is always off by 4 hours. I saw someone mention an offset??? Where is that and is that only for Handcent? Will that affect the time in the actual text app? Because that time is right.

There is no notification or number on the messaging icon to indicate number of unread messages.
I dont know if its something I did or not but...when I try to forward emails from my Droid Gmail account I get a message that says "Send this message without text in the body". If I continue then it forwards but nothing comes with it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Droid was acting up a bit today. It was really laggy today so I did a battery pull, after which it was fine. Then tonight on the way home I got an email, read it, and the notification went away, but in my Gmail it still showed "Inbox (1)" but the email showed as read. I synced it twice, but it stayed the same way. When I got home tonight, I logged on to my email and it showed the email as unread. I just downloaded Twidroid Pro and Google Goggles, so I'm wondering which of these is the culprit.
View 11 Replies View RelatedJust today I have started having a strange issue with Gmail on my Droid. If I delete a message from my phone, it appears to delete OK, and disappears from the phone. If I go to the computer and log in, however, the message will still be there, no matter how long I wait. This is causing my Gmail counter widget I have installed on the phone to show an incorrect number, as it is counting the messages on the server, not the phone. No matter how many times I try to resync Gmail, once I delete a message from my phone, it will not show back up on the phone, but will remain on the server until I log into a computer & delete them from there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I get a new email on gmail, I pull down the notification drop down, select the email then view the email, and out of habit or ease of use, I hit the home button ...because it just makes sense that if I don't need to respond that I want to go back to the home screen directly. Why in the hell does the stupid notification not go away until I check the email 2 times.the only way the notification goes away is if when I select the email to check, I have to hit the back button which takes me back to the email list then either hit back again or home.

When I used to get texts on my old phone (LG Dare), the screen would light up for a couple of seconds everytime I received a new text message. With the Droid 2, it seems like I can only make the phone vibrate or make a notification sound. However, when I'm at work, I keep my phone on silent and can't have my phone constantly vibrating on my desk. Is there a way to set the notifications up so that my screen can alert me of a new message? I don't have the time to constantly check my phone for text messages during the day and I think I'm wearing out my battery quicker with the constant turning on and off of my screen to check for new texts.

Buzz again and Droid! Again. So I think I got two texts when I have one. I don't have handecent or anything. View 20 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid since they came out last year. Somehow I was able to configure notification lights for Gmail and Handcent, but I don't remember how. I had to wipe my phone and start over and now I can't figure out how I did that. I have Touchdown Pro for Exchange and that allows me to customize the LED for that app, but I can't find the settings for Gmail or Handcent. I know they used to be there, but I can't remember what I did to make them appear. I must have installed a third-party app, but I have no idea what it was. Any idea how I did it? I'd really like to get those notification LEDs back!

When I click the notification it brings me to the email, but the notification remains at the top of the bar until I click it again, which brings me to my inbox. This is not really a big issue, it just kind of gets annoying clicking every email twice. Any solutions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI made the switch from the (surprise) iPhone on the day of release to the Moto Droid. I really do like the phone, but there are 2 consistent quirks that I can't find an answer to after searching Google and many many forums.
1. Lock screen timeout. This one really annoys me for some reason (probably just because I feel like it's a waste of battery life). So I have the screen timeout set for 1 minute, so if I have the phone unlocked, and I don't use it for 1 minute then it locks itself (fine, good). BUT, if I have the phone locked, and I just hit the Home/Lock button on the top of the phone to see the lock screen, WHY does the lock screen stay on for the same amount of time (1 minute) before going off again??? If I don't unlock the phone, I just want that screen to turn off quickly, maybe in 5-10 seconds.
2. Gmail notification. I have 2 gmail accounts (1 for school, 1 personal), and it's the only mail I use or have set up on the phone. All I want to have is a notification of gmail in the taskbar so when I hit the Home/Lock button and see the lock screen, I can tell if I have gmail or not. I DON'T want the LED to blink if I don't check or delete the mail (turning LED gmail notification off). (Having the number of mails would be nice too, either in the taskbar or on the home screen, or optimally, both).
So, I would like to assign separate ringtones for my gmail and sms alerts. Apparently, the Android system groups these together; I can assign a different tone for regular email, but not gmail, as the Android system groups them under "notifications." Is there an app out there for this?

And when i close the phone, like lock it .. the Led keeps blinking green ? It stayed like this for almost two days .. and then just then I signed up for this forum it sent me and email to my phone .. surprisingly .. my Led blinks , the phone vibrates and GMAIL shows on the status bar ..What can I do to prevent the GMAIL &continuously Led blinking .. to happen again ?
